This place is amazing! If you are looking to walk by a semi urban, or super quiet location, this park has it. The trails lead under a bridge that is really cool and kinda dark, I thought the acoustics under there were on point, some one should try practicing some vocals there some time (:The trail also leads to a few different boardwalks where the land is very swampy and very green! Bring bug repellent! There is a few different spots to sit and take in the scenery, good spots for a quick picnic.Real quick, make sure you wear clothes/shoes you don’t mind dirtying a bit. The seats are dirty because ‘environment’. Bring plenty of water. There is a nice canoe entry, very aesthetic scenery!Plenty of shaded trails. There is a bathroom at the entrance. Please take your trash with you. 10/10 recommend!
If you love the great outdoors, kayaking, and semi-tropical rivers, Single Creek is one of the hidden gems of the Orlando area. Meander through Bald Cypress forests with many native birds. Absolutely beautiful. Water level varies. Check with the Paddling Center to make sure its sufficient to comfortably go the full length. Rentals arent cheap.
Beautiful kayaking. Highly recommend it. Launch is free. No fees. We unloaded and then parked across the street at the welcome center. There are restrooms. Also on the walking trail behind the welcome center is a covered picnic table which we used for a relaxing picnic after. There is also a lot of hiking and biking which I have not tried.
Beautiful, peaceful scenery. Went canoeing and had a great time. Definitely worth it!
Great kayak experience. The young men helping were amazing and very professional. The area was clean and well maintained.
We enjoyed our kayaking experience, but it was a fairly pricey rental compared to other local canoe and kayak experiences weve done. The area around the river was serene and beautiful and we saw lots of local wildlife. Finding the rental area can be a bit of a struggle depending on where you park due to a distinct lack of signage, but once we found it, the staff were kind and knowledgeable and the whole process was easy and fun.
Love my walk in this park. Lived in Orlando for 14 years but this was my visit... Beautiful scenery.
Cute little trail. You can rent kayaks for 30 dollars if you want. I did see some dogs running around unleashed with no owners in sight so keep that possibility in mind when you go.
Beautiful and peaceful waking trail. Pet friendly too.
Very nice place to walk, relax and spend time with family..
Best experience ever!First time kayaking and I loved it! I had a huge fear of being in the water because I cant swim. And it was no better knowing that there were gators, water snakes in the water; however I was reassured that they never attack ppl. After 10 min training we went out into the water.I got the hang or shifting perfectly! It was because! My brother saw a gator, thank God I didnt! The birds the sounds the views are breathtaking . Youll get your workout for sure!
Very scenic, like a little Oasis beside the busy 192. You can rent kayaks, there are restrooms and also walking paths to either stroll around the woods or head North towards the Pioneer Village. Very easy to access, paths are wheelchair/stroller friendly (though may be a tad bumpy if in the wooded bit). Reliable place to come for a couple of hours of exploring.
I was looking for a place I could kayak in a beautiful natural environment that did not require booking a tour and showing up at a specific time. It took some looking around online and this is it. If you are looking to just show up and do a few hours of kayaking in a beautiful surrounding this is it. Highly recommend it.
This is a great spot to step away from tourism and into nature. I rented a kayak and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The river was beautiful. Id like to go back sometime to walk the trail.
Love this place. Never crowded. I guess it’s a well kept secret. They recently refurbished some of the paths. Very clean. There are restroom facilities. Also, there is a place where you can rent a kayak or a canoe for a few hours and paddle up and down shingle creek. They provide life vests. There is plenty of parking for vehicles. They also have bus parking available.Great place to take the dogs for a walk. My pups absolutely love this place. Also a great location to take photos!
Absolutely stunning scenery! Just off the 192 and mile marker 15. In the heart of the city. There is a public kayak and canoe launch. Free of charge when you have your own gear. There is a business on property who rents kayaks and canoes but as of the time of this post it was closed due to COVID-19.Expect to see lots of birds, fish, turtles, gators. A lot of the river is shaded by huge trees. Steffee landing is perfect launch spot because you can either go upstream to Babbs Landing or downstream and travel all the way to Lake Toho during the wet season. There is also clear and concise stop sign that signals a turn around spot before entering the rapids . safe and fun for everyone!
Relaxing, beautiful and quiet. Completely worth it!
The trails for bikes are not that great, for the kids they are fine . We really enjoy the canoes .
I didnt know how to kayak when I first got here but the workers gave me the run down. Turns out Im a natural! Make sure to watch out for the alligators though, I watch out for them since I think theyre kinda cute.
Beautiful, peaceful, and scenic. Canoes and kayaks available for rent. Vending machines and clean bathrooms!!
Lovely spot to rent canoes and search for alligators.trails over the water as well
What an amazing place! Im so glad I found this for kayaking. Although I brought my own kayak I noticed if anyone wants to rent one, they are inexpensive and are super friendly at the kayak center.
Very peaceful...fun.. great customer service...
Beautiful place to walk run or just sitting around and enjoy the creek! You can also rent kayak or bring your own and have more fun!!
Its a beautiful place for walking and biking
This open space and accompanying trail is within twelve miles of a much more heralded public space - Disney World and Universal Studios. Yet in its pristine beauty and accessibility it is an alternative to the busy ness of Disney.Try the canoe and kayaking for one hour. The rates under $35 per hour- and the savvy ness of the Outdoor staff are wonderful!
Nice bike ride. Most of the trail is paved. A couple spots have packed dirt but its an easy ride.
Beautiful place to take a walk among pine trees and cypress trees. Bridge gives a great view of the creek flowing by. Sneakers are fine here as its easy walking. Parts are even ok for a wheelchair.
Beautiful place to visit with the whole family ️. Great for bicycle rides, hiking, walking, running, kayaking, and being one with nature. Great place to take pictures of nature.
Our interest in swamps started here with our first board walk at Shingle Creek swamp in Kissimmee, FL, several years ago so we thought it fitting to return in Jan 2019. It was even better than we remembered! You need to take the time to walk slowly and look for the hidden treasures. We stopped and tallked with a security worker who commented that the last hurricane flooded the walkways with three feet of water and it took a month for the level to return to normal. This has caused an increase in the type and size of the algae on the trees. There are a myriad of colors and the cypress knees grow in interesting shapes. Enjoy!
Alex was our tour guide and he was fantastic! One of the most knowledgeable about the eco system. This made for a great time! THANK YOU, Alex! A must do tour for families and corporate team building exercise!
It is amazing, it has many roads, all of them merged between them but it is terrific. You can do trail, jogging, bicycle, kayak, fishing, picnic, or just sit down on the grass and rest. I like it. 5 start.
Loved the experience. Had the river for me, as I was the only one on the water. Very magical spot for paddleboarding. Thanks to the owners and employees for the great moment
Nice area, clean. Bathrooms available were clean. Did not rent a canoe nor bring my own but launch is free. Many hikers for the short trail as well as bikes. Concrete sidewalk trail.
Beautiful surroundings, nice and polite people taking care of you. Worried about the weather and our safety. Great experience. And if you have never been on a Kayak its waters are tranquil so it will be easy to go around. Loved it and highly recommend it !!
Was a nice place to take a walk in nature very close to our home.
Its been here for years, and they are getting better.
Great little path, very peaceful being out in nature
Great place, I suggest parking in 1st parking lot or at Welcome Center. The kayak center, 2nd entrance parking lot is always full
Awesome state park !
This is my favorite park in Kissimmee. I go there almost 4 days a week to take pictures.
Beautiful stream. Ive been canoeing here for the past 25 years, and I always look forward to my next visit. I might bring earplugs next time and mask out the road noise at several areas. The road is close is some areas (but you never see it. There is also a noisy airport with antique planes that fly about at times...nice planes but they destroy the ambiance. But still, it is a nice experience.
This park is a wonderful place for a getaway mini outing by yourself or with a family. Its not big on parking and you dont see alot of people all over the place. Its in Kissimmee so a getaway from the hustle is so nice. You gotta wear the right shoes for walking the hiking or bike trail. Lots of shade and trees too. Canoeing is a trip. Very cool place to meditate too.
Beautiful place to visit if you like nature and walking. Good change of pace from the touristy city and theme parks
Fun time and they offer two directions to go and is definitely a fun time
A great spot right in town to escape for some nature. Free launch of you have your own paddle board too. Stays relatively open until further up the stream where it starts winding a bit more. Been several times and have only seen one gator so safe there.
Nice quite and so very peaceful!
There you will find Pioneer Village numerous trails and beauti
Great place to kayak, canoe, paddle board- its close to city with nature right at your doorstep... always enjoyed my visits.
We were on vacation and wanted to try something new so we came here. Very nice park with trails along the river. Even has a few historical buildings.
Delightful little park tucked in the midst of sprawling development. Based around a historic structure, there is a pleasant path and bridge over Shingle Creek. Rental kayaks and canoes are also available for exploring the abundant wildlife.
Great place for paddling, walking, or bike ride. Now if only they would open up their restroom !!!
Great place to kayak.
Had a photo shoot here. No cost. Facility was very welcoming. There is a restroom on the property and plenty of scenery!
Great place to visit for a shady walk or kayaking.
Very nice and relaxing walking trails. You can even make a stop at the Pioneer Village.
Beautiful scenery and everyone that works at the rental is super friendly. Highly recommended
Nice place to walk and bike ride. Theres tables to eat and kayaking available too. Nice grassy areas to have the kids run and play.
This is one of my favorite kayak runs in Florida! There is a short round trip run that is stunningly beautiful for non-experienced kayakers and a longer one-way run for very experienced kayakers. The round trip is perfect for anyone, including newbies. You can rent boats for this. The one way run requires your own boat and to arrange your own shuttle. I just Uber one way. This can be a moderate run or a VERY challenging run depending on the water and obstacles that day. Not for the faint of heart, but crazy fun!
Really beautiful place. I couldn’t find the playground for my 4 yr old to play so that was a little disappointing because that was the reason we went but we will definitely come back another day where we have more time to explore.
I really enjoyed the time with my family there.
Beautiful creek, haunting swamp with large trees and reflections in the water.
Great place to take a walk and see nature love it!
Beautiful place, lots of boardwalks, easy for my toddlers to walk.
Me and my friends came here and we had so much fun until it rained, we had trouble finding good parking too
This place is a great antidote for the crowded theme parks and endless sprawl. There are Kayak rentals and an expanding accessible trail network for bikes and hikers.
It is surprisingly nice. Just off of 192, it is invisible from the road, unless you know where to look. 1 mile board walk over the swamp. Access to the creek for canoeing and the trail for biking.
Canoe, kayak, paddle board rentals, tours, and hiking available
Poor Lighting, Lack Of Technology, Outdated Unsafe Outlets No outlets to charge electronics throughout the day . Homeless acoholics and drug addicts on the trails throughout the day . homeless camps in the offbeaten trail paths. Just poorly maintained by the city 15 miles from disney wow
Shingle creek is the best. My family and I love to go hiking here. This is a really great place to take younger children because it has quite a few stroller-friendly board walks. It does get pretty busy on the weekends but theres enough trail where you hardly notice all the people. There are two separate parking lots so if one is full, go check out the other! Each has clean restrooms available.I havent personally gone kayaking here but I often see people going out. Looks like it would be a wonderful area to do that.
Great hidden spot. We are homeschoolers so we are always looking for hidden history in this great state. This is definitely a nice spot to get a quick history lesson in. But it can be hsrd to find. Blink and youll be making a u turn to double back. But for sure worth it.
Perfect for a kayaking ride and walking trail. Even on an overcast day the trip on the creek so relaxing.
Love walking the trail and renting the canoes and kayaks
Nice and peaceful. Lovely Cyprus trees. Kayaking if that takes your fancy
Very clean and beautiful. We love it there
Nice place to walk and look at the river.
Nice little park and board walk. also has kayak rentals, or bring your own
So quiet.. down to nature.
It was a great walk I got tired when I got home but I have fun
It is such a beautiful place. I would recommend it to anyone even without experience in a kayak.
This is a hidden gem! I love walking the trail covered by trees or bike riding the paved bike trails. I havent done the Kayaking yet, but hope to soon. Love nature!
Nice place to take a long walk and explore.
We bumped into a local that gave us a full tour that spent an hour telling us EVERYTHING about the park. We had a GREAT time!
Me and my family visited couple of days ago before 6pm and the kids liked it. Beautiful little gem. The only downside wich has is that we couldnt use the toilets.
In the middle of the urban jungle. Great oasis.
Gator with little ones..mams and papa are around to see
Gentle hike through real Florida swamps. Get a great experience without getting feet Wet! Optional kayaking.
Beautiful cypress trees, lots of birds, peaceful settings
Very good park for a walk with/without the dogs.
Lovely walk.
Great kayaking spot. Friendly service and lots of wildlife spotting opportunities.
Stopped here for a minute and it was cute. They have canoe and kayak rentals.
