Kalama Skate Park

One of the largest beach parks on the island. There are tons of things to do from beach volleyball, swimming, SUP, and sunbathing. There are basketball courts, baseball fields, skate park, soccer and football fields. While some of the facilities need an update and maybe a coat of paint, but definitely a nice park space.

MEH! It was rocky, and covered in algae for about 50 yards out. There is only a spot about 100 wide thats sandy, and the rest are giant boulders.We did see 2 turtles, but really the only kid friendly thing would be the bathrooms nearby. The rocks going into the water did not feel good at all.

Nice park for the whole family.

Nice views that I enjoyed with my fiancée, but the parking lot seemed rather unsafe at night.

The playground equipment is in decent shape and great for all ages. Lots of sidewalks to take a stroll along the beach and check out the crabs on the rocks, the surf lessons in the water, and the beauty of the ocean. There are several homeless that keep to themselves away from the play area and are friendly. The bathrooms are kept clean, but never have paper towels or other ways to dry hands after washing.

Its good place for skating. But, park facilities are closed and people are breaking in to skate.

Nice walkway away from auto traffic. The playground was awesome for toddler. Lots of small slides and swings. Great beach access for sunset

This used to be a great little skate park and it was used by a wide variety of people from children to young adults. Now it has been closed for awhile, and I dont know why for so long. I hope it reopens because it provided a great resource for the community.

Great park, well groomed and great views for sunset

Not much of a beach here, but its a large park with grassy areas, skate park (closed for repairs while we were here Feb 2020), lacrosse box that some people play roller hockey in, and other amenities. Surf lessons are done from here, and there are rentals available across the street for easy access to surf/stand up paddle boards.

Fun park for skateboards to go. A lot of ramps and a bowl as well to ride. My son had a great time today.

A very nice park to just take a walk at. Sometimes youll see people fishing or biking as well. Definitely a place I can recommend for a nice walk in Kihei.

Great place for people watching! We also love the neighboring beach areas and super convenient local shops, bars, and nearby eateries... one of our favorite areas on the island!

Not for swimming. Using by surf schools for beginner lessons. This park have barbecue grills and restrooms.

Well-kept dog-friendly park with a tiny strip of beach for those who are looking to get wet. We ate a late lunch at Paia across the street, walked across the street to this beach, and basically were the only ones swimming in the water! Turtle sightings were definitely going on, and we witnessed such a colorful sunset. There werent many people in the water, so this park is more for those who want to dip their toes in and slowly walk around. There are public restrooms, but no foot showers, and tons of parking.

This is a great park to spend time with your family climbing trees, picnicking, watching the waves, and walking. I met and prayed with an amazing woman Nadine from Australia at the skate park on Christmas morning.

Looks like fun to skate around the rink. But I havent done it for a long time. Still looks like its worth getting out there to do. Looks like a real nice rink. On another occasion I enjoyed watching teams play skate hockey.

Beautiful views of the ocean. Awesome breezes. Intermittent shade along walking path. Great view of coast line and additional islands.

Nice local park. They have a number of vendors that have surfing lessons and equipment rentals. They also have a nice walk along the shoreline. They have restrooms as well

I got to visit the park during the renovation and see what the future park might look like.

A great place to turtle watch, snorkel, surf, windsurf or watch them do their tricks! Plenty of parking, places to rince the sand off plus restrooms.

Great seaside village with many small shops and restaurants and the very nice Kalama Beach Park. Impressive in-line skating rink in the park. Enjoyed our time here walking and sight-seeing on one of our two days in Maui on 4/29/18. Loved Kihei!

Kid loves it. But lots of creeps at night under the lunch pavilion. Ive never had a problem but ya never know...

Really nice park. Clean and safe with an older guy helping a couple kids out. I enjoyed this place.

Awesome place. Best for beginning surfers. Not a family beach. Try Kamaole beaches for that.

Fun for all, this place has a playground, swimming, BBQ areas, volleyball, horseshoe pits, nice shady areas and beautiful scenery. We have our birthday parties here all the time.

Wonderful, beautiful, extremely blissful, lovely, quaint, quiet, exciting, fun, natural, sublime, nirvana, (other bands), relaxing, comfortable, ugh. running out of adjectives.my uncle is semi-native to the island and anytime we’ve visited, we come here. pack a bag, a towel, and enjoy the park and sunset. you can even slide off some black rocks if you’re really adventurous and fall into the ocean. we did that a few times. stood in the drain way where i think excess water goes, and got beach-slapped by a wave once. 10/10 pineapples, would absolutely recommend.

Nice place to watch the sunset. We spotted a number of green turtles swimming right by the waters edge in the evening, and there are probably​ more throughout the day!

Great place to get yer goodies while the kids skate. Roller skating mostly Wednesday Friday and Saturday evenings. Board and bike park just got a revamp on open every day

Watched my daughter, son-in-law & bruh learn to surf here. Watched my grandsons run from the waves crashing in and play in the sand. Does it get any better??

This skatepark is super fun. In August 2019, the whole street section was professionally renovated with concrete by GrindLine. The all wood 5 mini-ramp and 10 vert ramp are world class.

Peaceful, fun and beautiful. Loved watching the skateboarders.

Very relaxing and like everything about Hawaii the views are postcard taken. One of my favorite parks that I would visit often. Parks Department does a great job with the upkeeping and maintenance of Kalama Skate Park!

Great place to chill, watch a turtle or two swim, watch ppl fishing, watch the sun set, watch ppl walking their dog, roller blading and skating or practicing their tight rope skills. Then you can walk across the street and stroll the shops or grab a bite to eat.

Beautiful public park close to the Ocean and safe bathing. Perfect for a picnic or just a breezy green space to relax, read a book, or just take in the fresh air blowing in on the trade winds, its free, in every sense of the word, please respect the environment and dispose of your garbage responsibly, dont bring plastic bags or drink bottles, they can easily blow away into the sea and poison a still pristine ecosystem, have fun, I did, playing frisbee

As a of me I like to skate so I searched up skateparks near me. I saw Kalama skate park I looked at the reviews people from 6 months ago said it was still under construction. I don’t know if it still is but I hopped the fence and it still has wood missing cigarettes and beer trash everywhere.

Well maintained park with sports field, tennis courts, basketball courts, and a skate park. I didnt see the skate park while there, but it was just after sunset. Park closes at 10pm.

Amazing sunsets, beautiful lawn, benches and wall. Great views!! Make this a sunset stop and get some selfies. But dont ruin for everyone else with a loud FaceTime call...

Great place to visit.

Also know as Kihei Skatepark. As of 2019 park is under construction. Converting from wood to concrete. Very easy beginner transition. A few rails and touch of street style. But all the wood features you see in pics... (including mini and vert ramp) are gone.

Great public park ....but not maintained well. One if the better sites to watch the sunset in Kihei.

This park needs to update the website. It says that there is a newly renovated skate park so we drove 10 miles to take our son there and it was all torn up and had a chain link fence around it. What a disappointment

Mixed reviews. Skate rink and skate park both fun and regular playground for the kids, but drugs and homeless a swrious problem there after dark. Maui jeeds to clean up the place its in the middle of town.

Great park with a gentle break. There are many surf instructors here in the morning that operate from their trucks.

Small park next to the beach. Beach is clean and there are several eating places near by.

My son and i love this park. When we go we spend the whole day.First we go to the beach its so pretty no rocks theres always turtles swimming around then we take a shower over there and go to the playground that is big and have so entertained things for the kids and for last we go and get some dinner in front. There are so many options of good restaurants to eat.Definitely a must to go w kids

Fun beginner surf spot with a lot of fun shops.

Wow, first beach I ever go to in Hawaii, with my wife and two teenage kids. Walking toward public restrooms and covered picnic tables, homeless locals hanging out, one of them warns me “as a local, I’m warning you, you f*ing tourists don’t know anything... you keep going there toward my boys, they’ll take care of you .... you’ll lose everything you have.”We drove a mile or so a little further south to a nicer place. Hope that works out better.There’s lots of cool local shops just next to this beach. It’s a bummer that the beach itself has such a vibe.

How could you go wrong at any park on the ocean on Maui?! Kalama Park offers many amenities including skating, restrooms, generous parking, large trees and grass with several picnic pavilions and so much more. While I was there this morning just walking on some of the sidewalks I was able to watch three turtles eating off the rocks!There does tend to be a few homeless people hanging around and there’s a sense that some upkeep and cleanliness would be helpful, hence the 4 star rating.
