Awesome tour. It lasted a lot longer than I expected. You get to go through the entire ship on many levels. Highly recommend. Captain Bob and Bill were great.
Really enjoyed seeing a wonderful piece of history. This ship performed many roles that seem inconsistent for the size and branch making the history even more wonderful. There are areas off limits, like the bridge and engine room that would have been really nice to visit. There are plenty of plaques discussing the history. The staff are friendly and informative people.
If you like history or ships this is the door to be. The staff is wonderful, friendly, funny and charming. Thank the older men for serving our country. Tons of info spanning many wars and conflicts. Take lots of pictures. Up close and personal with the ships many quarters. You get a real feel for what it was like to live on board. I felt the waves rock the boat a bit. Watch your step, many places to trip, slip or fall as you move about the ship. A real time machine and would highly recommend it to anyone interested in history, ww2 or navy history. The men working on the engines, must have cussed a lot if they dropped a tool...engine room is cool to see. I really liked the barbers room and the commissary. Thank you to those who served on board the uss ingram.
My partner and I enjoyed the amazing history this vessel had, so many incredible stories. You were able to see majority of the ship like the boiler room and such. It was very clean and was all fixed up. The man that told us how the tour worked, was very polite, he answered all of our questions and told us amazing stories. Everyone on board was very hospitable, and we loved our tour. What an amazing gem to find !!
This was amazing, I could have spent hours here looking at everything. We didnt know about this and discovered it late in the day, so we will definitely be back! So much history, I got goosebumps walking through it! I recommend this to anyone, even with kids, we had four with us ages 4,5,7,and 12 and they thought it was so cool! Great experience!
Every high school student should have to go through an exhibit similar to this to better understand what has been given to them.
Excellent. Very informative history of Coast Guard in WWII. Self-guided tour allows you to take as much time as you like and to see many of the spaces of the ship. Well worth the $10 admission fee.
One unknown guy in a SUV parks and beaches said me that there are a military zone and the police could handcuffing me if I use my drone to take photos in that place...Im a Part 107 FAA pilot and part 135... The warn was unnecessary and disrespectful... Obviously nobody needs to broken the law.
This is a self guided tour and it really does take you back in time. The way things are staged is realistic. I was nervous it would be hot inside but the fans and ventilation actually made it feel cool. It takes a bit of time to go through all 3 floors of the ship. There is a 14min video in Ingham telling her story that is located in the main mess hall. This ship has quite a remarkable story to tell. There’s a lot to see and is definitely worth the $10 per person admission. Everyone there was so appreciative that we came to visit. I am glad we stopped by.
Excellent. I encourage everyone to take the time to visit this important piece of history.
Fabulous place to watch the sunset on a Friday night away from the overwhelming crowds at Mallory Square. An older, more relaxed crowd, but still fun to be with. Pelicans and warblers flying off the bow. Absolutely unimpeded sunset views. Five dollar admission to help support the ships upkeep, well worth it. Cash bar.
I’m glad this ship was preserved. The ticket is $10 per person. Worth every penny. You will be able to see the interior as it was left in 1988 when the ship was turned into a museum.
This place is great if you are looking to see and learn something while here. It was a snapshot in time gone by and a very worth while part of our trip. The volunteer staff was amazing and eager to answer all questions we could come up with. Definitely interesting and was very inexpensive way to spend a couple hours learning about the history of the coast guard. I would recommend going.
This museum ship is a memorial to USCG personnel who gave their lives in service to the United States, particularly in WWII. This cutter served for over 50 years in active duty, and is preserved in the condition it was in on the day of decommissioning, down to laundry hanging in the laundry room. Touring the ship was a very meaningful experience for me, especially since the Coast Guard sometimes gets lost when the accolades are being handed out after a crisis.
Tour was good self guided, no pressure take your time
Very educational and interesting piece of our military history.
Great location, amazing ship and staff were extremely knowledgable and welcoming.
Incredible experience. This ship is very well maintained and explained, the self guided tour walks you through the different parts of the ship and periods when she served. Its mind blowing to see how perfectly planned the ship was. Friendly crew!! Its worth the visit!
Had an amazing viewing the museum. Super friendly staff. Its like a ship from 80s and 70s just frozen in time. Might have to volunteer next time i go to Key West
Wonderful tour of the historic ship! Met Captain Bill as we finished, and he spoke about his experience with the ship! Fantastic, thank you Captain Bill
This museum ship offers a self-guided tour, which excellently permits visitors to tour through most of the spaces aboard. Several sections of the ship feature artifacts from the different eras in which the ship was in service. Explorable areas include the laundry; repair shops; officers quarters, lounge, mess and kitchen; crew berthing and mess hall; engineering; offices; barber shop; shipboard store; captains quarters; communications; and the top deck. The bridge interior is not accessible, but its windows do provide a view inside. The mess hall doubles as a museum area with numerous items on display. A must see for any navy/vessel enthusiast.
Very great preservation of history and the staff is extremely welcoming and open to any questions you may have.
My husband was in the navy so this tour brought back memories for him. Lots of interesting things to see. It was worth the price.
Go and live some US history, youll be surprised of how much youll appreciate our veterans.
Great place to take the kids. Its a historic landmark, and the staff was well informed and helpful.
A true time capsule with most everything on the ship left unaltered from its days in active duty. Cool in itself with an excellent on-ship museum as well! I will be coming back!
Really great experience, on par with the Battleship Missouri in Hawaii. The ship is in great shape and well taken care of. Lots of history and friendly staff. Say hi to Capt. Bill!
A ship with a great legacy, seeing action in the Pacific (including ferrying McArthur) into the late 1980s. Take a step back in time with this easy, self guided tour.
Great experience. you have to go.
Great Place! Loved it! Everyone was beyond friendly and you could really do some exploring all around the Ship. Afterwards pop up back on the deck and enjoy a snow cone. And the view is always spectacular! Help Donate to them today! This ship has history that should be told for years.
Go there on the sunset time! You Will have an amazing view with great music! And a drink If you like.
Extremely interesting and informative! Really great self guided tour with informational stops along the way! A must see for your Key West trip!
Great experience. Seems a little unknown but all proceeds go to a great cause
This was one of our favorite things we did on our trip to Key West. It’s a real life vessel that served in WW2 and Vietnam and it’s perfectly preserved. It still has the officers names on the offices and the seamen’s names on the lockers. Thread in the sewing machine, laundry hanging outside the laundry room. It’s a real time capsule of one of the most historic times in our country’s history. An added plus is you can have a beer or a snack on the deck afterwards and watch the cruise ships go by. You’d be missing out if you don’t do this tour!
Very well organized and informative tour of an amazing ship!
Interesting history of the ship and its role in the Coast Guard. Well worth the time and $10 to tour. Some narrow passages and stairs so just be aware.
This museum is an absolute treat. I’ve been twice and would certainly return again. It’s an amazing feeling to be on a ship with such a long-standing, rich history. Well worth the $10 donation. It should be noted that not all areas of the ship are completely accessible, but it’s a museum and that’s expected.
Even better than we expected! You don’t have to be a history buff to appreciate this marvel. Prob one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. Def recommended for family or friend trips!
Amazing naval history to be learned on this vessel. It isnt just about the uss ingham either. It covers what the day to day was like.
Amazing Coast Guard ship. Rich in history and beautiful views. Staff very kind and knowledgeable.
Very interesting & historical. Glad the boat is having a good retirement in the keys!
Great self guided tour.Very informative.
Tour is self guided, meaning you can spend as long as you want looking and reading, and the boat is incredibly well maintained. Its like walking through a time capsule! The staff/crew are friendly and happy to interact. Captan Bill is a wealth of knowledge and it was truly my pleasure to speak with him. Admission is only $10 (or you can sit on the deck and have a drink for just the cost of your drink. Tour not manditory.) And it is worth it! Its not often you get the chance to tour something that had a hand in history so thoroughly and have someone there that lived through many of the events.
We happened by on a Fri evening when they have a happy hour to raise funds for restoration. It starts one hour before sunset. The drinks are only ok but sitting on the deck and watching a beautiful sunset more than makes up for it. Truly a hidden gem!
I was glad I got to tour this cutter. Very interesting, and packed with history.
Wow nice park easy parking and a part of history
My husband liked the history of this ship, it was very informative.
Cool self guided tour!
Great for kids to learn about our history
Awesome ship lots of history. I really enjoyed the tour throughout the ship. Super time a great hour of exploring. I do recommend this ship for the experience I had its more than 5 stars.
Stumbled on this free park while walking south of Mallory square. Our 7 and 9 year old enjoyed the big kids playground. There was a nice little tots next to it. And a nice splash pad as well for which we were not prepared with suits. Comfy rubber floor. And the backdrop of cruise ships and the coast guard cutter added to the ambiance. Way to go key west. Ps no bums the morning we came on 11/1/19
This ship is 82 years old and highly decorated!
Great step back in time and living testament of the bravery exhibited by soldiers if the past.
Must see for Navy buff.
A great floating museum of a venerable ship that fought in three Wars and protected the US and its citizens in coastal waters and the high seas. Great visit!
Amazing step back in time. Great history! It is air conditioned but remember this is an old ship. Hard to cool. They have fans also. Highly recommend. Bonus on Thursdays is farmers market!!!
$10 per person. Well worth it for history bluffs. Self guided, but people there to answer questions. Closed Mondays. Good place for sunsets serving beverages on Friday and Saturday.
Very nice self guided tour. This vessel is a time capsule and very interesting to see. A must see for the younger generation!
Coast Guard Inghams history! A job well done!!
Very well maintained museum, highly recommend!
Pretty cool museum piece Key West has been fun
Always worth the time and money to see these types of living museums. Go and learn something.
Great place to watch the sun set
So much history and life! Would 100% recommend to anyone who is interested in history.
Kids could not stop talking about it.
A must see, very historical place to visit. I was in the Navy and I really enjoyed going thru the ship. The tour is not guided, but an information sheet is provided when you start. The are some areas that are inter-active, with speakers explaining what youre looking at.
Absolutely superb museum detailing a little known aspect of ww2 history. Definitely worth a stop!
We did the Sunset on the Quarter Deck and it was great. Good cold beer, chips, and great sunset view.
One of the better museum ships Ive been on. The ship has not been picked over like most museum ships have so you get to see far more of the inner workings than you usually do.
My dad served 16 years in the Coast Guard so was very cool to see this. Must see if you are in Key West
Excellent tour for lovers of military history
Very cool self guided tour for 10 bucks. Like a museum and time capsule all in one. Quite the history the Ingham has.
Very interesting self guided tour we did for not too high of a price, there are some older retired soldiers who are happy to tell the kids and introduce you about the boat, very fascinating how everything left on the boat in 1988 is still there as if it was yesterday it really takes you back in time and give a good feel for what it was about. boat museum is closed on Mondays.
Did not go on the boat but it seems like really cool thing to go to.
This ship was great to tour! Very inexpensive to do. The gentleman who gave us an overview told us everything was left on the boat when it was decommissioned in the 80s so It was like a time capsule! We spent an hour walking through it, my kids 8 and 11 enjoyed it too! I love watching my kiddos get interested in history of this country!
Very educational! Volunteers were very friendly and informative! Will visit again!
Place was closed on a sunday. But it looked cool from the outside
Great people sharing great history
Great place to watch the sunset
The Ingham enjoys a distinctive history serving in several theaters in WW2 as well as other theaters in the US. It is preserved for our education in the waters of the Gulf where it has been since taken out of service. It is the real deal, filled with its memories of service, action and our history as a country. It is also a credit to the men who served all of us.Amazing how much equipment can be racked and stacked in such a small space!. The men who served on it have an exemplary record of accomplishments during its service lifeIf you are in Key West it is well worth your time to be reminded of how this branch of our armed services made a difference in our history. Visit the Ingham!
Great staff and an amazing experience!
Nice ship a lot of memories
Nice tour, knowledgeable crew (for jar-heads).
Took the family here and we all enjoyed the self guided tour. This ship has tons of history and the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Great activity for a rainy day.
Outstanding tour! The ship is all volunteer run, and each are a wealth of knowledge. A great feature of this ship is that all its contents were left intact when the ship was decommissioned. Very unique! There is still equipment in the galley, and communications room. There are still tools on the workbench in the machine shop. The berthing areas are still intact, and the Captain’s quarters are still furnished. If you appreciate our United States Military history, don’t miss this opportunity.
A wonderful time capsule.
The most unique and informative museum I have ever been to. Put this on your list of must see. The sunset party on Friday and Saturday, for 5 bucks cannot be beat. The Crew made us feel like family. Truly a part of Coastguard History.
Worth the look
Its worth a visit to see what it was like, living and fighting on the ship.
Very awesome self guided tour. Lots of history, totally worth the $10
USA treasure. Our history that should never be forgotten.
Great opportunity to sea how sailors live aboard ship.It is not everyday you have this look into a part of history and the USCG.
Interesting history. A must see for military buffs.
ONE OF THE BEST SHIP TOURS EVER!!! Great staff great history behind this boat. Also one of the best things that was different was the audio that was at each numbered stop on the tour. And in the command center you actually get to hear audio from live fire scenarios that the ship went through. This was an awesome tour! KEEP IT ALIVE.
An excellent piece of history.
Unfortunately it was closed when we got there, but it was still magnificent to look at.
