This trail is a beautiful place to get in touch with nature in the heart of downtown Kalamazoo. We saw deer, mallards, canadian geese, muskrats, red-winged blackbirds, and woodpeckers. The trail itself is a nice loop that goes around a marsh pond with several branches that sprout off of it. However, I would suggest going before 3PM when everyone is at work, because we went after 3 and it was heavily trafficked (super busy)! Wouldnt recommend coming here after 3.
Awesome little preserve tucked away in the city. Main loop is a little over a half mile long and circles a small bog. Trail is 60% well-packed dirt, 40% gravel. There are several alternate trails that branch off the main loop and venture into the surrounding woods. I see deer on a daily basis, and have seen predatory birds as well as a mating pair of foxes! this winter.
Beautiful. Nature. Love it. The graphics are great.
Has plenty of wildlife despite being in the middle of town.
Very lovely place. Im of two mind and am torn - one part of me wants everyone to keep this place a secret, and the other part of me wants to share it with everyone. If you do come to the trail, please be considerate of others and a good steward to the nature. .
Just wish the trails were longer, but I get it.
Remote... and, gentle terrain helps out as well.
Perfect fall hike
Nice clean trails interesting
This place is a treasure of nature right smack-dab in the middle of the city. As far as I know it still maintains by both Western and kvcc. At least in the past that used it for ecological studies. Great walking trails Great for young families I like to take my kids here quite often and you can make the walk just as long or short as you would like to which is nice also. Lots to see in this preserve.
Quiet, serene, and splendorous, Kleinstuck Preserve is one of the major perks of living in the area. Its ~0.7 mile loop around the swamp is perfect for running, dog walks, and just enjoying the scenery. There are multiple benches for enjoying the view of the marshland, which is a beautifully preserved example of one of the most diverse biomes in the region. It is lovingly attended to by students and scientists from Western Michigan so it is always clean and well kept. Its proximity to downtown and the surrounding neighborhoods make this rare preserved plot of gorgeous marshland a true gem to be cherished.
Peaceful and beautiful. This is a priceless treasure of a preserve! It is one among the several fine local examples of what is possible within an undeveloped area surrounded by urban development.
This is a nature preserve in the heart of the city. Its owned by Western Michigan University. There are several access points. There are no parking lots, just on street parking. There are no facilities available. I would not recommend taking a wheelchair or stroller. That said, its an interesting and educational stop for anyone, including families with children. There are brochures available at the map stations profiling the plants, birds and animals that call this area home. There are a few benches where one can sit and relax after walking or running the oval. My grandchildren always enjoy a walk in Kleinstuck and keep track of how much water is in the marsh compared to the last time they visited.
Needs work. Largely invasive species. Plenty of ticks. Great wildlife viewing opportunities, including birds of prey, amphibians, deer, and other bird species. Little to no native flora except trees. Good paths, most not steep.
Hidden away in the Westnedge Hill Neighborhood, this is a gem. A wonderful way to feel like youve escaped the city into nature.
A great place to take a walk, and enjoy nature.
Provided a great setting for my fiance and I to hold hands and go on a walk
Nice spot for a walk in the the spring and fall. In the summer the bugs are too much and the winter can be tricky footing.Keep an eye out for all of the side trails off of the main loop, there are some great views from up above!Keep in mind that this trail is for foot traffic only, no bikes are allowed.
A gem and place of reflection and solitude in the city. What a wonderful gift to the state for the public to enjoy.
Wonderful place to reconnect with nature. Excellent spot for birdwatching and enjoying a family stroll. Feels like deep in the woods, especially during summer season.
Beautiful trail!
Born and raised 500 foot from that magical place
Great place to observe nature naturally
Awesome
Beautiful nature preserve hidden in the middle of town! Great for hiking, bird watching, snowshoeing, and cross-country Skiing!
Clear main trail but lots of curving and fun side trails for runners and hikers. My favorite running spot!
Good trails, fairly well-maintained pathways. A nice bit of peace and solitude within minutes of the chaos of downtown.
Nice place to go if you want to go on a walk in the woods
Hard to find. There was one instance when i did not feel safe but it was nothing.
Super place for birding! Lovely to see such diverse wildlife.
Beautiful preserve hidden just outside of downtown Kalamazoo. Its a great place to experience nature.
Well maintained, if small, wooded trail system. Great for quick walks.
Natural area surrounded by neighborhoods. Great place for a 1 mile hike.
Very quiet and beautiful. Lots of wildlife.
Was a little cold the day we was on the trail.
Great place for wildlife viewing!
Great trail for running and walking :-)

What did I think from the park is just the beginning of the year.
