Concessions are expensive and service was SLOW.Jacksons newest movie theater has inspired Hollywood Cinema to up their game.Empire 8 is nice, new and clean, but the concessions are outrageously priced. We got drinks, hotdogs, popcorn, pretzel, and some candy for our family of four for nearly $100. Wont be making that mistake again. We could have eaten at a restaurant much cheaper.

Awesome place for movies! Friendly staff, clean facilities. Huge variety of concessions that can be expensive, but thats part for the course at a movie theater. Seating is super comfortable. Be careful reclining as you may end up taking an expensive nap. :)

Nice theater. I have been there three.times.The employees are nice and seem in good spirits. The theater is clean and the seats are nice. The concession prices are a bit high but it’s a theater so that’s not too shocking.There is something off in the sound in the EX theater. The front speakers seem to be out of time which causes one to sound slightly after the other almost like an echo. Fix this and it would be an awesome experience.

Great new theatre in Jackson. Loved being able to pick out our seats and pay at the machine for fast and self-personalized service. Very clean, but I do wish there was a better movie variety.

Awful popcorn... have been twice and some of worst popcorn I have eaten. Is like chewing gum. I could never chew it up. On top of that they charge almost $7 for a medium coke. Talking about greedy. Seating and theater were very nice

The theatre is nice. Some of the special effects are. startling like theb drop falling from the ceiling in sections B/C seats 8-10.

It was our first time there. We watched I Still Believe. We were the only ones in that particular theater.

Ive reviewed this place multiple times, I dont know where my other detailed reviews have gone.Anyway this place is the best theater Jackson has to offer. Some people complain its expensive but its really not. Its new and has bells and whistles that the other theaters dont have to change for. Like food delivery to your seat during the movie. Oh and those seats, they recline electronically.They give decent 3D glasses rather than the awkward cardboard ones that always seem to bend and fall off during the movie. And they have closed captioning devices that fit in your cup holder and create a new cup holder so you dont lose space!The bathrooms are clean and Ive never found them out of paper.Yeah, totally worth the extra buck or two per ticket for all the amenities.

Nice movie theater, roomy and clean. Extremely cold in the inside, very uncomfortable.The concession prices were high, refills were high as well. Food wasn’t really good, nothing special.

Best of everything! Everything is pristine and perfect. Ticket prices were in line with everywhere else. The concessions workers seemed to still be getting everything figured out, but all the food was good. Online ticket purchasing worked fine. nothing bad to say

Overall impressed with the new theater. Seats were very comfortable with a good distance apart from each other. They have a large variety of concessions. Currently this is the only theater in Jackson that you can purchase and reserve tickets through fandango. The only issue I had was with the restrooms being in weird spots. Very clean though.

A good place to watch a movie and make sure you sign up for the rewards card they have to.

This was a very nice theater. It was clean, comfortable, and the concessions were nice, too. Depending on what you order, they will scan in your seat tickets and bring it to you. You get to pick your seat when you get your ticket so if it s a popular show, reserve your seat early. We went to the matinee so it wasnt too crowded.

Best theater in Jackson! Staff was on-point opening night and extremely friendly. Chairs are very comfortable, projection is super crisp, and sound is great. UPDATE 2020 - Empire 8 has been kept clean and still has great customer service. Cant wait for more movies to come out to theaters so I can go back to Empire 8!

No one to take the tickets,( why did I buy them), had to sit in 4 different seats to find one that wasnt broken. Popcorn taste like it was made 3 days ago. Hoping for something better than this from a new theater.

Best movie theater! The seats were SO SUPER COMFORTABLE! wow! My 4 and 2 year olds loved watching the addams family. Very family friendly of course and affordable.

The outside of the building is very inviting. I ordered tickets for the movie online. The lady printing the tickets was very friendly. That is where it ended. If you are going to have a movie at 11:10, then have the popcorn ready. Instead we got attitude from the employees behind the counter. Their excuses, They unlocked the doors too soon, that is why we dont have the popcorn ready. You will have to come back later if you want some. My husband and I walked in the front door ten minutes before the start of the movie. Your employees were very rude. The seats were very comfortable and made the movie more enjoyable.

A little pricey on food but tickets were standard price. Electric recliners were by far the most comfortable seats of any theater Ive ever been to. Definitely will go back.

Called the number on the website for the Jackson Tennessee location... wanted to see Godzilla King Of Monsters... recording said it was showing at 9:10 pm. We arrive at 8:32 ...find out the movie wasnt showing. Oh well... we buy tickets to Dark Phoenix... $43 in tickets for 1 adult and 2 kids... because the only Dark Phoenix ... tickets and food over $60.... not happy with our first trip here. Think we will stick with the other places... popcorn was horrible... sent it back... the next bag was no better... people working there were extremely nice...very nice and very helpful..

Comfortable seats (push button recliners). Can order a meal and they will bring it to you to enjoy while watching a movie. Not your normal typical movie theater. Your comfort is guaranteed. Will definitely go again.

My husband and I saw Endgames tonight at Empire. We enjoyed the movie. The boneless chicken wings and popcorn were awesome. Its pricey for food,but we enjoyed it. Well be back.

They REFUSE to give me popcorn salt without an argument every time I go. They act love theyve never heard of it. I dont wanna argue with you lady youre making me late to my movie.

Had a good experience overall. The seating areas arent very big but the chairs are nice and comfortable, plus they recline. One of my favorite things was that they sell beer. Also clean and well kept.

My first time there. Didn’t eat before we came Was planning to eat there. Well that didn’t work well at all. But the people that took the order not friendly at all. Even paying 60.00 for what little food we got. U would think they could at least said thank u. Or a discount for not having the burgers but no they charged more for the hot dogs and fries. For exampleHamburger and fries 9.00Hot Dog and fries 14.95What the heck. Did anyone go yesterday and have the same experience that my granddaughter and I had. Going to try again today. Will see how it goes. This will be my last time. If out of everything again. Admission would be ok if they had the food they advertise. Wish me luck

We’re sitting here in the theatre for the pre-opening night. Wow! We LOVE this place! It’s kind of on the smaller side with a medium-sized lobby and I think 8 show rooms, which gives us even higher hope that they’ll do a great job of keeping it clean and well-maintained. The layout and size seems well thought-out.The staff and management have all been very friendly and courteous, and the samples of food that we received (popcorn, pretzel, and wings) were all quite tasty! Especially the pretzel. :)The seats are beyond comfortable. I sat in one, reclined it, and found myself wondering if we should buy a new mattress because I haven’t experienced this level of comfort in a while. Thanks, Empire, for giving Jackson the fancy theatre it has longed for for so long! We’ll be back!

Best theater I’ve ever been to. I honestly don’t think I can go to any of my local theaters after going to Empire 8 because it was such a nice experience. It was clean and great electric seats and service. Slightly more expensive compared to some of my local theaters but I would pay the extra any day just for how nice Empire 8 is. Pretty cool inside so I would recommend a jacket for anyone that is sensitive to colder temps but I wouldn’t consider that a bad thing since every theater I’ve ever been to seems to be on the cooler side. 10/10 would recommend if you’re looking to give money to a good theater! Empire 8 now has another loyal customer.

The seating is simply amazing! The trays, extra cup holder and recliner function of the seats are terrific. However the food we ordered kept this rating down. The only thing available for hamburgers is ketchup, mustard, and mayo. Adults should expect more:. Lettuce, tomatoes, and onion are basic. The burger had a good taste but the fries were bad. A few were warm but most were completely cold, as in they were never cooked!

First time visit and was impressed with the theater. The electric reclining captain chairs had a tray and cup holder.. well all but mine. Thats my typical luck lol. The sound system was great making the movie that much better.

Tickets were a fair price, but 6.00 for a soft drink is a bit much. We soent more on popcorn and drinks than on the tickets to see the movie. The popcorn was also stale and way over salted. The seats are comfortable though and that was worth the price of admission. You really need to check your snack and food prices though, I get you need to make money, but that is just a bad business model in my opinion

Ive been really looking forward to this theater for a long time ever since it was announced. I finally had a chance to experience it tonight and folks - it does not disappoint. Everything is pristine and made with quality. The customer service is excellent! I notified some staff of some picture issue during the previews, and they promptly addressed it with urgency and professionalism. The concessions is far more expansive than the competing local theaters. The sound and picture quality is top-notch. Im really looking forward to experiencing Avengers next week to see its full capabilities with sound and picture for a major action film, too. The lobby has a convenient box office with kiosks and staff (and its indoors, which is perfect because the weather was quite nasty tonight). They even have a quality ARCADE! What more could you ask for from a theater? This is the best thing to arrive in Jackson in a long time. Thank you, Empire Theaters, for delivering on all your promises and far exceeding my expectations. Keep up the great work! The competition should be worried.

The staff is really helpful and the service was good. The place was not messy and it was really clean. I hope to go again sometime!

My experience at this theater was abysmal.I purchased a ticket for the Joker, when the movie started it was in the wrong aspect ratio.I then proceeded to spend 45 minutes attempting to get the staff to fix the aspect ratio of the movie. When they finally fixed the aspect ratio they didn’t even rewind the movie even though I had spent $15 on concessions and $10 on the ticket. No offer of refund. They gave me two tickets for another showing which I will not be using as I spent $25 and didn’t even get to enjoy my movie. I knew more about the projection equipment than the staff did.

New theater so its super clean. Reclining, large, very comfortable seats! Took our grandson to see Toy Story 4. We had a great experience(tho the gal who sold us our tickets wasnt very happy at all, we even told her we had never been there before...she wouldnt smile, handed us our tickets with no direction as to where to go or which theater..oh well, only had to deal with her for a few minutes). You choose your seats when you buy your ticket. We bought a Popcorn bucket $10. You can bring it back all year and refill it for $4.50. Temperature inside the theater was very comfortable and cool. Concession stand sells candy, hot dogs, nachos, pizza, burgers, cotton candy, slushies, and of course popcorn and soda. A pleasant surprise is that they sell alcoholic beverages as well. This is our new theater of choice!

Been three times every time was perfect nice staff each and every time. the only problem was during endgame the 3d messed up, but they gave everyone in the showing a ticket for a free show. Other than that it was amazing great seats very comfortable, large enough for a full grown adult to have plenty of room. Large enough gap from the row in front of you to fully recline and still have room to walk between them. Plus for the 10:30 showing in 3d the price was only $11.50. I will always make the trip to Jackson to go to the movies from now on.

This is a great addition to Jackson theater choice. The other place is attempting to offer the choices and options that Empire opened with in order to stay competitive. The ONLY reason for 4 stars and not 5 is the horrible popcorn. Movie theater popcorn sets the standard for popcorn. Theirs is stale and chewy. The popcorn machines are never popping fresh product and fresh product has never been available the times we have been. We dont even bother getting it since its subpar.

Went to a matinee show today.Great experience. I like being able to pick out The seats ahead of time. If you order food they bring it to you, so you dont have to juggle food containers while climbing steps. They even have ushers like the old days that open doors and help you to find your reserved seats. The reclining seats are so comfortable, I was afraid Id end up taking an expensive nap. My only complaint was that the popcorn was WAY oversalted.

It was awesome! Ill never have to go back to Hollywoods sticky floors and urine stained seats again! :)

This is the best movie theater experience in Jackson, TN! The reclining seats with the swiveling tray are awesome! My son enjoyed the arcade before and after the movie. They also had very clean bathrooms. The beer selection was surprisingly good for a movie theater. I also enjoyed the fact that you can reserve your seats when you purchase tickets! I will definitely be coming back!

Amazing and really love that they reached out to the community during summer to allow families who might not otherwise be able to afford it get to experience the movie theater. Good job yall

Cant ever seen to take the family here...currently the lion king, dora and angry birds would have been a choice but They had ZERO childrens movies showing and only a choice of 4 others to pick from. With the older Hollywood 16 having a remodel the Empire 8 has lost us.

There were several workers standing at the counter talking to each other and not tending to customers when my party arived. While we watched the movie other customers laughed and talked through the entire movie. I dont blame the theater for that. I did however try to ask an attendant to help with the customers being rude. I went to the lobby and I couldnt find a single worker. I hope this was an isolated experience because the facility itself was great, but the customer service was less than satisfactory. I wont be returning.

You cant actually contact them using the phone number. All it does is give you the movie list with time and then hangs up. I even tried just pushing 0 or 1 to get to a person and that did not work.

Just got done watching Shazam in 3D. Love this place! Im new to the area and was disappointed when I went to a theater in Jackson. But with this new theater, its going to be the place for movies. Reasonable prices, 11.50 for a matinee, but the price of food is steep. The bucket of popcorn, $10, is worth it if you have 2 or more people eating it. Otherwise you wont be able to eat it all. The employees are extremely courteous and helpful. Im excited that I dont have to go all the way to Dyersburg for a halfway decent theater. I can get a great movie theater with the focus on customer service right here in Jackson. I hope they keep the standards up as time goes on, if they do, they will be successful and Jackson will have a great place to go.

Absolutely love this theater. Food seemed overpriced but the seating is great.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our experience there during opening weekend. We counted over 20 employees who were courteously assisting guests -- everything from opening the doors for us as we came in from the rain, to filling our food orders correctly. The food was fresh and delicious (not stale popcorn scooped from a black plastic bag, leftover from the previous day, as two nearby theaters serve it!)Yes, this was during the opening weekend, but I have no reason to believe that service or courtesy will decline as time goes on, if based on the attention management seems to give. Compared to the rude service, unclean facilities and general lack of upkeep of other local theaters, this place is a gem! It will most certainly have our business from here forward!

Spent $75 for 4 people and the service was terrible. They gave us tickets to the wrong movies and then gave our seats away to some people. To say I was aggravated is a major understatement!!!!

I like the idea of reserving your seats by buying tickets at the box office for the weekend. Then I can come just before it starts and not worry about getting seats. Having the lounge chairs is almost being at home. The concession prices are comparable to the other theaters, but still less expensive than in a big city.

My experience here was the best I have ever had at a theater! Love it!

Went there first time 5/5/19 to watch Avengers Endgame. Looks nice, shiny & new, but if youre just walking in, without buying a ticket online, youll hafta deal with whatever seats are left. (We sat in the last 2 seats, 17-18, on the extreme right side of Row E. Not horrible, but not the best seats.) Thats concern #1. Concern #2, much bigger, is that the lights were left on for the previews AND THE FIRST SEVEN MINUTES OF THE MOVIE! NOT COOL. When the movie started, I walked up to the projection window to try & let someone know, but no one was in there. So I was going to go outside, but saw a young employee & asked him if we could get the lights turned off. Then another lady left, presumably to do the same. Finally, an employee CAME INTO THE THEATER AND WENT TO THE LEFT OF THE SCREEN & TURNED OUT THE HOUSE LIGHTS. Design flaw? Controls not working? Somebody forgot? Who knows. Concern #3: We went to get popcorn after the movie, & 2 large popcorns was $17.56(!), and this popcorn was dry & awful. Concern #4: The seats had what looked like school desk attachments for the food. But, they either swing out parallel to the chair, into the aisle, or are right in front of you. Very poor and awkward design. Concern #5: The aisles are lettered, with what appears to be a 1 inch LED -lit letter for each row in the floor beside the row. I dont have perfect vision, but I was barely able to see it from my seat right next to it, and I had to ask a lady what row she was in. So, overall, not horrible, but my advice is, dont go right now. Ill stick with Hollywood 16s superior popcorn & better seating opportunities AND lights out for previews & movies for now. Give them time & they might be fine. Right now, theyre kinda inconsistent.

This is an amazing theater. Burgers and BBQ as well as popcorn, nachos, and candy at the concessions. Meal delivery to your theater seat so you dont miss the movie. Large isles so you can get in and out without giving a stranger a lap dance. Closed captioning boxes for those who are hearing impaired that are simple to operate, easy to read, and actually keep up with the movie! And you can buy tickets and reserve the seats you want online! Its not the cheapest theater but its not expensive either. The excellence is worth an extra dollar or two.

My fiancée and I had a wonderful experience at the Grand Opening today! From the smiling gentlemen greeting us and opening the door at the main entrance to the ticket counter cashier and the concession stand cashier. All had great smiles and made us feel welcome. The complimentary free small popcorn was a nice touch but we still ordered the BBQ Bacon Burger meal and the Cajun fries, corn nuggets and boneless wings as well, which were brought to our seats by another friendly staff member. The Cajun fries and regular fries were extremely over seasoned but everything else tasted great. The theater was extremely clean and the electric reclining chairs were very comfortable. We watched “Little” which was a hilarious film. We cannot wait to return and try out the ETX feature. So glad to have a theatre like yours here in Jackson.

Everything was great except the volume. The movie was so loud I felt like I was at a rock concert in front of a speaker the entire movie and let me tell you Hellboy doesn’t speak softly lol. In any case could stand for the volume to come down a bit, staff and everything else was great.

Have you ever had a good time somewhere but maybe the bartender or cook soured your experience? This theater was like that for me. The vibe was cool, but everything I ordered was subpar...EVERYTHING. The fries (even with Cajun seasoning and cheese) tasted like the cardboard box they probably came out of. Somehow the popcorn was old too. The kiosk for ticket retrieval was a good thing bc the line was kinda long. The arcade was too pricey for me but it was there which I liked. Now that Ive sat in reclining seats in a theater, I dont think I wanna go back to a regular seat in the movies. The film was great and the surround sound supplied a cover for the talkers near me. Service was alright. They were so young, their attention spans were miniscule...they spoke more to each other than to us & almost none of them were smiling. Also when the kid brought my food to my seat, I coulda sworn I saw him eat something off of the tray.

I went to see IT chapter two. Seats were comfortable but the theater I was in was a bit hot.

3D ETX (Ehanced Theatre Experience /similar to IMAX) movies in Jackson!!!! Best theatre in town. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Great arcade! Love it!
