State of the art renovation! I read about the theater construction in the Irvine Standard newspaper a few months ago. I was very excited to read that Irvine would have the best technologically advanced theater in the US. Irvine is a hub for tech, and gaming. Im glad its opened and its totally amazing. The lobby is so grand with a 360 wall screen for movie previews, self check in kiosks, the mirrored ceilings and sparkling floors, it is an experience as soon as you walk through the doors. Where you feel like something magical is about to happen. I noticed that there will also be separate bar areas for wine/beer which will help the flow of traffic and serving guests. I saw a movie tenant in the RPX experience. The sound was amazing, you could feel the emotions of the movie through the vibrations of the sound. Im looking forward to coming back to experience more of the VIP theaters, the 4D and IMAX. Our representative, Caitlin, helped us with getting tickets in good seats at a time that would work because everything was getting sold out, and theaters are currently operating at 25% capacity in California. She took us on a mini tour and showed us seats that could work for us with social distancing and best viewing. Great service!
We were shopping, and decided at lunch to go see Girl on a Train. Not being from the area I jumped on yelp to find a theater close by. Well we found this little gem. It was so clean, and we bought our tickets online. Bathrooms were so clean, and so was the theater. If I am ever in this area again, I would come back to this theater!!!
I loved the theater. It was beautiful and I enjoyed the movie. BUT when we went to our seats they had not been cleaned. There were chips and trash on them. I thought after reopening because of covid, they would be at least wiping the seats down between showings. Was very disappointed. I dont think I will return for awhile. Until I can be assured they are cleaning better.
I had a wonderful time. Everything was very clean, seats are very comfortable. They only had a limited menu, and I wish they had posted that information on the website, but what I had was still very good. I would have eaten somewhere else before the movie if I had known. I was in the VIP section, and the rum punch was delicious. Glad you stayed open.
Watched a movie in the IMAX theater.PROS:Beautiful new remodel. Awesome new IMAX theater. Clean and well appointed bathrooms and COVID-19 standards in place. Very friendly and helpful staff getting in.CONS:Construction still going on. Very inexperienced food court staff. Only popcorn being served even though other items were on displayed. They only serve Pepsi products.
I really like the remodel. Yogurt and coffee stands in the lobby... really well done. The theaters are outstanding... high back chairs that recline. It was busy on a Saturday - so wonderful to see.
The theater looks amazing after the remodel. The IMAX chairs smell like new car. It was a wonderful experience seeing a movie here after being on lockdown for 7 months. Felt very safe with the social distancing of the assigned seats. Will definitely be back.
Good cinema, nice selection of what has just been released
Newly remodelled theater is awesome. Great new seats in IMAX too. Looking forward to the Grand Re-Reopening when you-know-what is behind us all.
Extremely weak management. I saw multiple managers texting on their personal cell phones while the concession stand was absolutely swamped. True leaders should step in when their employees are struggling. It took me 40 minutes to get a Pepsi and I missed the beginning of my movie. Again, it took FORTY minutes for me to get a soda and there were only five or six people in front of me when I got in line (about six to seven minutes a person). When I expressed my dissatisfaction to one of the texting managers, I was met with were doing the best we can. Youre not. On a positive note, the renovations are fantastic and the theater looks great. Please do better.
You saw 1/5 of Tenets sound and cinematography if you didnt see it at this theaters IMAX auditorium.
Beautiful. Feels safe watching a movie. Still can get popcorn and sodas. Comfortable seats, small amount of guests.
Wonderful theater with a true IMAX. Even though the projector was partially broken. Still worthy of five stars.
Regal, I know youre working on it- but you really need an upgrade. We bought the fancy tickets with additional screens on the walls and were VERY surprised to see standard 80s theater seats. The people around us were talking about it too. This theater is currently under construction, but its open for business. Its convenient as its in a giant outdoor mall with plenty of parking and food choices all around. That said, Id MUCH rather go elsewhere with more modern amenities. The construction is taking place in the lobby which makes navigating a little tricky. Upgrade the customer experience- not just the building, then well be back.
Their renovation was done well. Extra clean and safe during these trying times.
Pretty great modern movie theater. Only problem is the screen x is wonky. It does get the job done in terms of immersiveness, but the quality compared to the actual main screen is very low. Overall, though pretty nice movie theater. Would go to again if Im near the area or if a movie I want to watch is only at this theater.
Gotta come here for the IMAX screen and the VIP section, their food and drinks selection is also decent too bad the pandemic affected this place, not that many movies to watch now
Saw tenent in IMAX and it was great
One of the best theater in Irvine. Just try the 4DX in here.
I lost my small purse the other night and Ms Rachel Hansen, Senior Team Lead, helped me find it. She was really spunky and encouraging. I just want to give a kudos to this young lady. She’s an asset to your team!I hope you remember this Rachel. Thank you again for your kindness!
Nice location. You could hung out with you friends after dinner here and enjoy a nice movie experience. Not super busy usually but recommend buying ticket online to make sure you got the most ideal seats.
The Regal Edwards Irvine Spectrum is an absolutely beautiful palace of Art Deco architecture. The theater is just magnificently decorated as are the other parts of the theater. The lobby is also very impressive. Built in the time of vaudeville, the seats are very comfortable and the sight-lines are all very good.
We came for the first show of the day at 11:00. Its under construction and the food was basically just popcorn. Had to wait until mid movie till the hot dogs thawed and the popcorn that was the only other option tasted like it was from the night before. No one was there to scan tickets so we just walked right in. When the movie was supposed to start the screen went blank for 10 minutes before someone turned it on and half the speakers didnt work. Expected more for my $17 RPX tickets. It is receiving two stars because the bathrooms were delightfully clean.
This theater has the worst seats I have ever sat in. Beautiful theatre but the seats hurt my neck and back.
My favorite theater got even better! This theater us currently in the process of a major redesign and wow it looks incredible now. Cant wait til its finished to see it in a completed state.
The actual theater and movie were great! The construction at the front was less than desirable and the concession stand doesnt sell any type of coffee. What was great, was that they let me go next door to the Starbucks to get a drink and then brought it back in with me. I love the smaller, more intimate theaters with the recliner seats.
Irvine Spectrum Center is an outdoor shopping center developed by the Irvine Company, located on the southeast edge of Irvine, California, US. It is currently the only bit of urbanization connecting the Mission Viejo/San Juan Capistrano/San Clemente area to the rest of the Irvine/Los Angeles/San Bernardino conurbation. The mall features an Edwards 21-screen movie theater. Built over a 10-year period, the first phase of the center opened in 1995 and the second phase followed in 1998. The third phase was completed in 2002. The fourth and fifth phases were built and completed between 2005 and 2006. The mall is used for establishing shots of the fictional Mall of Miami in the Disney Channel television series Austin and Ally.
Really nice outdoor mall, clean plus the stores that i went customer service was exelent. Like that plece.
Awesome!!! Great place to watch movies, ton of places to eat before the show too.
The Spectrum movie theater is always the best. They are under renovation right now, but I can’t wait to see what they do to it. There are always so many options for shows playing, and the seats are comfortable too!
This theater is okay its in a nice area a lots of shopping but the theater did not have assigned reclining seats which theaters closer to where I am have. the reason I came out here was because the movie I wanted to see started earlier so I came out of my way to come here. I was in Auditorium 15 to watch Den of Thieves. The picture and sound was pretty good nothing to complain about. A nice feature of this theater is like many of the other Edwards Theaters is it is very ornate inside and out.
Theaters are great inside. However, youre demanding a pretty high price for tickets when the outside of a theater looks like a war zone. Really unprofessional to have all the construction and people walking through. Consider your consumers safety next time.
1st date night in a long time, but live this theater
Sitting in the new theater #18 as I type this. Seats are filthy, butter grease all over and melted chocolate in the cup holders. These are all new seating. Regal really needs to implement better cleaning rules. At this rate these theaters will be run down before they finish the renovation.
Nice and fancy place well it has Cinemark movie theater and shopping place . mostly outdoor mall + movie theater . good to go with family kids and friends . lot of restaurants . lot of options . free parking .
Major reconstruction was being done & I took a bunch of shots for the before effect. Largest & most upscale Regal Ive visited to date. Prices were relatively similar except for the VIP theaters & I dont know why they are VIP...
The new theater is literally a work of art.
The new look looks good. Waiting for the completion. VIP movie experience was simply great. Movie lovers must try, at least once. The seats were extremely comfy, and you could order a popcorn, which will be served to your seat.
The construction/remodel makes this place a maze. Not sure what the point was of putting the fountain drinks in the lobby before you even buy tickets. Not very logically laid out. I assume that will change once the renovation is complete. At least the seats are reserved and comfortable.
They are remodeling but was pleasantly surprised once i got to the theater rooms. Got VIP lounge. Bar was delicious, got a blood orange margarita. Seats were sooo amazing and comfy. Definitely worth it :)
Im working construction thear its really nice good food
Renovation under progress.. seats are comfortable and screen and sound quality is adequate
Great location. Perfect for students whose schools are on the 82 and 177 bus routes. Nice and empty after school. If you go to Serrano Intermediate, or Trabuco Hills High, go to this theater!
Definitely feels like the cinema should NOT be open during renovation. Everything feels cluttered, crowded, and definitely not optimized. I went to go see Knives Out and found out our seats were taken by a couple who had their own seats taken. The new ticket purchasing system isnt explained enough and there werent enough employees to help out customers. If youre coming to this cinema your best bet is to either wait until renovations are complete or come during a slow time to avoid any commotions or clutter.
Love the new ticketing options!! Assigned seats need to be updated. Didnt match our seats. Small theater feel, with big screen look
I am aready loving the remodeling they are working on. Dont let the outside look ( Construction site) fool you. Get in and get the VIP show time experience. A best seat in the house experience!!
Used to come here as a teen. So great to see all of the upgrades. My kids now enjoy coming here and hanging with their friends.
Under remodel but turning into a regal. They have self service ticket checkouts which is great! Excited for it to be finished
Love the ornate architecture. This is how a theater should look and feel:-) The only thing I didnt like is the temperature was too warm.
Saw 1917 here. (A great moving motion picture, about persistence and honor.) This was my 1st time experiencing 4DX. Felt kinda like a ride!
AWESOME PLACE TO SEE MOVIE HITS....! Then you can chow and the best Restaurants in Orange County.... Lot of stuff for everyone! All ages. Fun Fun Fun...
The VIP section is where you want to be. They have there own section of seating and theaters. Also there is a drink and food menu. They can serve you in the theater at your seat or you can go up and get something if you would like. The prices are expected at a movie theater so obviously dont expect them to be cheap. The seats are reclining leather so they are very comfortable and you even get your own tray.
Nice beautiful movie theatre
I’ll give some of this credit to the fact that they are under construction, but this place was not what I expected. I got turned around a ton trying to find where everything was. The concession stand was run down, half the new soda machines weren’t on and the ones that were had no ice. The staff wasn’t really helpful and kinda let me wander the only guy who was helpful was the one standing in front of the ticket machines. Hopefully I’ll go back once they’re finished and it’ll be better! Will update.
Paid $20/seat to see the Joker this passed Monday night. My recliner and the one next to me was broken - asked an employee for help, they took a look then said they will go ask their manager, never to be seen again. Two stars because I enjoyed having beer during the movie, but definitely not worth the $20 for a broken seat.
I have been coming to these movie theaters since it open with the mall like 20+ years ago or so. I also worked for the Regal Spectrum 21 as a Cast Member working customer service in ticket booth. So, I know how they keep the theater clean, safe and moving at a rapid pace. It was fun, and I might go back to work for them again. I tried thto work see if I had the capacity to work, because I was in a coma two years earlier surviving and recovering from a near fatal car and 45 day coma. I was in my wheelchair when I sold tickets, but they gave me a chance which I appreciated. The workers or Cast Members all focused on making your movie experience as fun and stress free as possible. They now serve hot appetizers, burgers/hot dogs, hot pretzels with different dipping sauce, refillable large drinks and popcorn. Most of the popular candies to munch. When I have the money, I like to go to the special theaters with reclining seats and order a frozen alcohol drink to just relax and enjoy a hopefully a good movie. My four children grew up going to this theater, and I still go when I can. I want to take my new lady friend who I am trying to woo into my arms and life to a movie next Tuesday. Shes the most amazing woman to enter my life in 20 years. The length of time Ive been single. I plan to make a picnic lunch for us, and eat it by the new bakery on the other side of the mall. Theres also a potatoe clip climbing structure for kids. It has netting all around and padded flooring so kids cant fall off or get seriously injured. My grandkids love coming here to play, and Dad and Grandpa love when they just blow off energy so they sleep good.Spectrum is a whole day adventure if you want to see all the stores and the cool visual attractions. So, come in the morning, but bring some money because youre sure to find something you like and want to buy. Enjoy...
First time here my family comes all the time but from someone who usually goes to Amc Im glad to say from the customer service I have received today from Will tonight and seeing the quality of the seats and table per seat I have changed my mind I will be at Regal theater and so should you my mind is made up thanks Will for showing me true hospitality as my family enjoyed a night out together
VIP section was nice, chairs were comfortable and roomy with the only inconvenience that bathrooms were far on the opposite site of the theater. Venue still undergoing renovation.
This place its really nice.Very big so get ready to walk.Very clean.Very nice stores.Nice restaurants.Huge movie theater with lots of movies.Lots of parking spots.Nice people everywhere!Im from Dallas and I love it.
Family friendly environment, plush theatres with reserved seating. Fantastic surround sound systems in each screening room and a wide selection of food and beverages at the snack bar.
Now this place is a maze now I didnt say amazing its a maze they got you going in every direction but to the stores and buildings you need to go to surrounded by parking lots and more building the parking lots and more building with parking lots too many parking lots engineering with Layton across the freeway which divide food from work it was very interesting that you spent most of your lunch trying to get to a place to eat then you did spend the night at the place to eat. Everyone ready for this for the Irvine Spectrum gifts 4 which is you know was not engineered correctly the lane of everything is not right they only did it that way so it will accommodate the freeway in the people not the people that shop there the people that drive there when you get out your car and things all over the place all they had to do was coordinate clothing together shopping food you know everything has no category its all jacked up there
I came here to watch The Avengers on IMAX 3D.I love Regal/Edwards theaters. They have the most gluten-free friendly menu, their popcorn tastes better than AMC, and they have the true size IMAX screen.I love that they have added numbers to each seat, so you can book your seat in advance. At this point, the only things I have keeping me from giving Regal 5 stars is:1) They do not offer a subscription movie pass2) Their app doesn’t allow you to store gift cardsAMC offers both of these things, and I’ve been watching at least 2-3 movies per month for the past year at their theaters because of it. As soon as Regal starts offering #1, I’ll be switching right over. Until then, AMC it is.
Very nice theater in a shopping place with a lot of restaurants. Unfortunately the theater is under construction and you may not get the full experience.
I bought my movie tickets online for joker at 11pm and i was trying to look for entrance, I couldn’t find it, I waited at the plaza until a guys wear regal uniform, and I asked them, they said the gates closed I was like I bought the tickets already, and they said the movie started so can’t get in anymore..... I called the customer service at fantango, they can’t give me the refund, and I called the Irvine spectrum regal theater, and no body answers. I’m fine with no refund, but at least can I get the voucher or anything? It was $40+ for two tickets
VIP Staff was unfriendly, and spoke only between themselves. though this was not of VIP staff should be.The chairs are nice in VIP. The VIP section was clean. Only real compliant sell popcorn at the bar. Dont make VIP people walk back to the regular areas to get it. Ridiculous
It is a large theater so a lot of movies and times. Check before going though as some showings may be in an upscale theater so the price could be higher. They have gone to assigned seating. They have an expanded menu including beer. They have the Coke machines that have the many flavors so u can mix and match. Parking is free in the structure but the spectrum is very packed on weekend nights
While there is construction, make sure you arrive 30-45 minutes before the film start time. We arrived 15 minutes early to see Star Wars in IMAX and spent 30 minutes in the concession line and another 10 looking for the theater. By the time we found our reserved seats, they had been occupied (hey, I dont blame em). Overall, this was an extremely frustrating experience and could have easily been remedied by some signage and some extra consession point of sale carts. Im sure this theater will be nice when the construction is complete but until its over, arrive extra early with plenty of patience.
Presently under renovation for upgrades. Overall, its a great place to see movies in IMAX. Reclining seats is a plus! And food service brought to you. Great to be lazy and pampered.
Ive always enjoyed coming to this theater my favorite theater love the remodel. The only thing Im not happy with is that theyre switching from Coke two Pepsi
This place is currently under construction, but from past experiences the prices are very expensive and the seats were alright. The theaters are very big, so if you are coming with friends or family and its their first time, this place would be a great experience for them.
The spectrum is a scary bourgeois place full of hollow plastic mannequins come to life. The movie theater is somewhat of an oasis in this sea of banality and mindlessness. I have fond childhood memories of seeing spokes of franchise cogs like star wars, Austin powers, and other movies i dont care to remember there. The service there is acceptable, which i would expect as these people are in the customer service industry and their job depends on being civil to customers. The movie selection is the same as just about every other major theater around. The only reason i would recommend going there is if you live close by or if it is convenient, time wise, to see a movie there. Or, if you like drowning in a sea of faceless nameless humanity all seeking some sort of respite/distraction from the pointlessness of their lives, by all means, GO GO GO!!!
This review is specifically for the VIP RPX Auditorium 2 21+ theater (they did allow a family with 2 small kids, so it’s not necessarily adults only). There are only 6 rows in this auditorium (A-F) with E being mostly handicapped. Our seats were in row C, seats 2 & 3 which were only 3 rows back from the EXTREMELY large screen. Essentially we were looking up and to the left from our seats. The rows start at A, which are directly under the screen, and in my opinion, is a non-viewable location, and go back to F, which is the furthest and only good viewing row in this theater. When we arrived I was surprised to see how close the seats were to the screen, and I wasn’t the only one. Other guest arriving mentioned it as well. I typically pick seats half way back in stadium seating, so I honestly wasn’t sure I was going to be able to stay. The seats and staff were very nice but no matter how nice they were, they had NO business charging VIP pricing for seats that close to the screen.Ultimately we ended up leaving 20 min into the movie since it was an action film, and trying to watch it so close ended up making me sick, and I’m not even super sensitive to visual movement.Regal was very nice about giving us vouchers for our tickets and concessions, but movie date night was a total bust. I would NOT recommend this theater to anyone unless you score a seat in row F or are desperate to see a film. Other than that, save your money.
Very overpriced. Ive been to movie theaters with way better quality and service for less. I mean for that price at least make the seats recline.
Ralph Breaks the internet great watching you in here giant screens! Great animation by the way!
Great movie theater, great facilities, excellent concession choices and comfy seats. Cant ask for much more out of a movie theater.
The 4D was definitely an exciting experience. Not sure Id want to experience that for every movie, but definitely fun for the family.
They need more vegan candy options. Great theater otherwise. When will construction be done?
Great theater. Large selection of movies as and very comfortable seats.
Got a plan for a family entertainment night? Regal cenima in Spectrum makes it perfect
Their seats are the most comfortable reclining seats! Theres no call button at your seats. Your alcoholic beverages have to be a mixed drink. No straight liquor. Just add a splash of water and that works. The best warm fresh buttered popcorn
Horrible from the beginning ! I come from Victorville and we have better looking seats to enjoy a movie !! These were the quality of a $1.00 showing at an old cinematic theatre ... and here we are paying $12.50 for old squeaky seating ! Yes it’s under construction but really ??? We still pay full price ? What a ripoff!
The place is still under construction. Its ice cold inside. I hate how the bathrooms are so far from the vip section. I shouldnt have to walk that far if I pay vip prices. 4d seats are way to close to each other. I was literally on top of some random dude Ive never met before and not because the seats were moving.
Best Imax Theater south of LA
Hard to navigate. Walked into the wrong room two times! But in the end the seats were comfortable and once my group paused to ask the concession stand they were able to direct us to our theater.
Used to come here as a teen. So great to see all of the upgrades. My kids now enjoy coming here and hanging with their friends.
Standard films have poor resolution, poor sound quality and uncomfortable seats. The ticket isnt worth the price.
4DX was awesome! Thats how action movies should be watched!
Terrible experience. The screen had marks all down it, the sound had the treble turned all the way up. There was a bright light below the screen that was like 4x4. The seat was broken and squeeky. I will never be back. Just the worst movie theater ever. Whomever manages this should be ashamed at the service they are providing.
Under construction horrible seats. And they charge more for reclining seats....all seats in garden grove regal recline with no extra charge
I love seeing movies in 4DX.. its the best way to see an action movie.. Ive had some issues with this theater though. First one my girlfriend left her phone in the theater, and we called and called to get it back but somehow they never found it.. we believe strongly one of the workers found it and kept it. She ended up having to buy a new phone. This time I went to see Star Wars and the people who scanned our tickets didnt give us our 3D glasses.. I had to run back out to find some during the movie and ended up grabbing a pair from areturn bin.. lame.. maybe once the construction is done they can get their act together, but Id rather go to the Aliso Viejo theater.. unfortunately they dont have 4DX..
Had a pretty awesome experience at the newly installed 4DX theater. And I totally recommend anyone to go for the 4D experience, then watch again in IMAX, cuz I truly believe that you get 2 different experiences even though it may be the same movie.
It was a great night. With great costumer service.
