As a small business owner, I understand the importance of treating customers with respect. This did not happen while I was there on Saturday evening. I arrived with a mask on, and took it off once I got settled in and took a drink. I was standing there and a bigger gentleman with long hair and glasses came up to me. He informed me that I needed to wear my mask while I was in there, unless I was going to take a sip, in which case I would take the mask off, take a sip, and put it back on. This wasnt necessary if I was sitting down per him. I was sort of in disbelief since that doesnt make all that much sense. I walked over about 5 feet to ask a couple of friends if they were under the same impression, as well as set my drink down on a table to get the mask back on. Once I got there, I was met by this gentleman again. He raised his voice and I was told that if I was going to blatantly disregard their rules, that he would ask me to leave. I asked him if he was serious, since he talked to me like I was about 5 years old in a really condescending and rude way. He just repeated the same thing and continued to berate me in front of everyone. To be honest, Ive never been talked to like this before at any store. I am a 38 year old man with an 8 year old son (who I have never talked to like this) and wasnt rude to this gentleman in the slightest. I was blown away at how he spoke to me. I have no issues wearing a mask, I just wish he had approached the issue differently and explained their stance, versus talking to me like that. Bars and restaurants have been hit the hardest by Covid, so it didnt make any sense to me why he would be treating customers like this. Id ask that someone have a chat with this guy about his overall attitude and demeanor because he clearly had a chip on his shoulder and is enjoying the power that he might have. You might also ask him to set a good example and wear rubber gloves while hes cleaning. Thank you.
Last night was my first time visiting Tappers. What an awesome atmosphere! The staff and the patrons were all really friendly and easy to talk to.
The bar itself is very nice. The drinks are good and the there’s lots of games to choose from. The other customers are fun to be around. The customer service is horrible.
Lovely arcade with drinks! Adult playground. Really enjoyed the place. Tappers Mule with Elder Pear is definitely this little ladys drink!
In Indianapolis for business and had this place recommended by a friend who used to reside here. I could spend a week here, drinking and playing classic arcade games. They also have retro systems, craft beer, premixed cocktails and pinball machines (which are the only ones that you need quarters for) Lastly the service was friendly and quick, overall amazing experience
First time visiting this place. Night started out ok, but did not end well. We ordered four drinks, one of which was a plain pineapple juice. Drink had a lot of sediment in the bottom. Bartender said it needed to be changed. After it was changed, the drink looked weak. After tasting, it was not good. Bartender offered a Coca-Cola instead and apologized for the bad pineapple juice. Now on to video games. Because of social distancing only every other video game was operable. There was one particular video game that was not operable, turned off. We asked if that video game could be turned on and the other one turned off? Bartender contacted manager. Manager responded NO, because of social distancing. Now on to the pinball machines. These were located in the back of the business. There were MANY pinball machines, two rows of them all right next to each other. EVERY PINBALL MACHINE WAS IN USE. NO SOCIAL DISTANCING WAS BEING OBSERVED WITH THE PINBALL MACHINES!When this point was brought to the attention of the manager, why were ALL pinball machines in use and NO SOCIAL DISTANCING was being observed but yet only EVERY OTHER video game was operable BECAUSE OF SOCIAL DISTANCING, manager responded with Well thats just the way it is. We were getting ready to leave this business, after spending approximately $60 to $80.We said to him that didnt seem right to have all pinball machines in use but only every other video game, because we had asked about having one video game turned off and the other one turned on, manager responded again, thats just the way it is and not to come back!Well that business need not worry, I WILL NOT GO BACK!BUT on a positive note, the business was clean and in an area of town with a lot of other nice looking, well attended businesses. Area looked to be an up and coming area.Tappers Arcade in Fountain Square area of downtown Indianapolis, Indiana.
This place is awesome, check it out for sure... Great beer and drinks, friendly staff, and of course best arcade games.. Go Pac-Man and Frogger.....
Neat place! Our bartender (also named Taylor) was super cool. Love this place!
Its not a bad place. Some of the games need a little bit of a tune up with some of the joysticks being delayed but over all a good nostalgic place.
Great games, NOSTALGIA At its finest. Good selection of beers, they attract a cool customer base that makes it even more fun to play. Easy parking, too.
Wide variety of fun games, including arcade, console, and pinball. Craft beer plus a rotating selection of delicious cocktails...the frozen one is always awesome.
Lance White is by far the most professional manager I have met. I always make an effort to visit the place everytime I am in town to support the establishment. They have great drinks, music, people, vibes, and an overall great time.
Tappers Arcade Bar is set in a nice location on a somewhat quiet strip occupied by mostly what I seen as college students. Its a clean and quiet area which really went hand in hand with the Bar itself. Inside most of the customers seemed to range within there 20s, 30s. Theres a few tables as soon as you walk in, with a decent rectangular shaped bar in the center (three sides for seating). There are a ton of games, lined against the wall of the entire place, which seemed to all be in working order and in decent shape.I wasnt overly thrilled about the selection of drinks, prices are decent, and no shots are available without any compromise if youre wanting a particular drink made up. I stuck with Bud-lights, which came in a can, and was more pricey then other beers in the area.Bar tenders didnt seem to go to far out of there way to greet or acknowledge newcomers into the establishment. I would have been much more likely to spend more time and money (I was still there for an hour and me and my cousin both had 3-beers, plus tips.) if we felt a little more comfortable on greeting. It wasnt busy, so doesnt serve as a reason for not. I think, sometimes places need to remember NOT everyone is always local or been in an establishment before. All in all the bar in general served as a decent, low-key social setting, where one could sit around and enjoy nice casual conversation or play video games while sipping on drinks. Not a bad place to hang out, despite the drink selection, or lack of initial acknowledgment Ill likely return when back in town to see whats new.
My driving partner brought me to this place, and we had a ball. If you enjoyed playing video games in an arcade setting as a kid, then you will enjoy this place. They serve alcohol and good sandwiches. They had all of the nostalgic fighting games that I enjoyed as a kid, and got to play them while having beers and cocktails. The best part is that most of the video games are FREE to play! You only have to pay for certain games on the upper deck. I had a good time at this place.
Super tasty. The bill wont break you.
No fun no drinks worth prices
Good drinks, fun games. Adrian is terrible with customers will be back as long as hes not around!
Friendly staff. Open concept...free games plus those you pay for. Very nice.
Tappers is awesome. The arcade games are free to play so you just gotta put quarters in the pinball machines; they have a change maker there. They also have a Sega Genesis, N64 and Nintendo Switch setup for console action. Their craft beer selection isnt bad and they have some domestics as well. The bartenders are always friendly.
Great place to go, great drinks and arcade games were fun.
We went right when they opened on Saturday afternoon. The bartenders were very helpful, welcoming and friendly. They have an excellent selection of games to play all of which are included as long as you are drinking except for the killer queen and pinball games. The cocktails are ok. Lots of fun! We will be back!
We had a great time at Tappers and will definitely be back.
Its nice but they could have more games than just those that they have. Like maybe add an xbox area and or a ps4. Or both i mean its supposed to be a gaming bar right?
Was not impressed drink options where limited couldve been allot better.
Just discovered Tappers Arcade Bar... Awesome place to hang out for the day!!
Great late night escape!!!! Drink potent, games memorable
Tappers is one of my favorite places in Indy. From pinball to N64. Good beers and good people. The new expansion has done wonders for this place. Its a pinball lovers heaven. All games are free except for pinball which ranges from .50 to $1. No cover, just buy a drink! Beer, sodas, cocktails, and more.
Always love going to Tappers. They always keep it fresh new games all the time.Much better maintained games than 16-bit.While Im on my rant fix the right action button on the left hand player on Track and field plz
Decent drink selection. Try the Octorock! Nice array of arcade games that are free to play as long as you spend some dough. Convenient drink holders and shelves along nearly every game. Some cabinets need some work but thats to be expected for electronics (especially old ones) that are beat on by the public.
Ive been here twice, service both times has been solid and Ive always been greeted without hesitation. The game selection is fantastic and I love the amount of pinball machines they have. Only reason my rating isnt higher is I feel like the drink options are really slacking here. The selection is very small in my opinion and I have yet to find something that I genuinely enjoy. Its the primary reason I havent been here more!
Pretty nice place! Drinks were pretty good and there was a solid selection of games. LOTS of pinball but at a dollar a game- ouch. 16 Bit only charges $.50
Better than 16-bit further North. Game selection, decor, bar options, and layout seemed to click. Had more fun for the time spent. Also, check out their sick pinball options in the back.
Pleasant atmosphere friendly staff and loved all the arcade games and pinball!! Its a good time!!
Great game selection, Local tournaments, and one of the few places you can play the legendary killer queen! Drinks selection is limited but high quality.Definitely will be back!
The greatest place in Indiana! Fun games in a cool environment with great people.
The employees are always great and weve never had a bad experience!
Great place to have my first legal drink. The arcade machines are very cool, and all work very well. They have spots to set your drinks down on the sides of the arcade machines, which is a very nice touch. staff is quite friendly and very knowledgeable about the machines, and the drinks were very good.
Awesome! I had some extra quarters so I bought a beer with change.
FANTASTIC place full of childhood video games for FREE!!! A lot of pinball machines to play as well, they do cost though.
Very cool. Like nothing Ive ever done or seen before. So many games. Some pretty unique cocktails that were worth trying.
Favorite arcade bar! Great atmosphere, fun games, tasty drinks! So much better since they expanded, it feels bigger and less crowded!
Seriously fun time. With the recent-ish expanded section its even more fun! Free classic arcade games with a full bar; what more could you ask for?
Really enjoyed it. Free entry, 1 drink minimum. Lots of classic arcade games to play for free. Many pinball machines too, but they are pay to play. Decent beer selection, slushies, cocktails, and wine.
Really fun place! The atmosphere is chill and both times Ive been its not been that crowded. They have a good selection of games and an immense section of pinball which you do have to pay for. All other games are free. The music they played was lit and the decorations they had were also really neat. I like the wide variety of games they had because if you didnt like something you could move on easily.
Great place to have a drink and play vintage and new video games! They recently expanded and have more space. Great bartenders, too!
This place is a blast, hands down. The games are very well maintained, and they have a great selection!
Tappers is the best arcade bar. If youre really into gaming tappers is the best of the arcade bars in Indy. Lots of options and they have tournaments for the gamers. On top of that the drink selection is excellent and theyre always coming up with new and interesting flavors and drinks.
If you like arcade games pinball and beer you will probably enjoy this bar. Not really my cup of tea personally but Ill give it five stars because it is what it is
We had a great time. Drinks are reasonably priced and includes unlimited game play. They also serve food, which is a must for the end of the night.
So much fun! Such a wide selection of arcade games and the pinball machines are always a blast too! I recommend sticking to beer or drinking one of the slushies if youre going to have alcohol. Those are the better options in my opinion. Its also a great place for a first date. Overall, great place and fun atmosphere!
I love the dolphin game and miss it
Great place, fun games covid sucks
It was alright, drinks are priced decent but rather weak. Hope you love pinball as over half of the place is pin ball. They have a good selection of other games as well
Great time! They have a wonderful beer selection and awesome games! One of my favorite spots!
Tappers is such a fun place to play arcade games. All the games are free (except pinball I think), so youre just paying for drinks. They recently added on another room with several more games. They also have a few old consoles with games on them.
My fav place to go and hang with friends, play some old school arcade games, and have a beer, or one of their featured cocktails they offer.
Had a good time. The drinks are ridiculously priced. I assume because the games but frankly Id rather put quarters in the games than pay 4 dollars for a single Hamms, thats the price of a 6 pack
My first time to an arcade bar. It was an amazing experience. Staff was super friendly, beer was extra tasty. Enough games for everyone to play. It was a great time and I totally plan on returning.
Fun games to play (purchase drinks). Free except pinball. All reasonable.
Wow. As a kid growing up loving arcade games this place has it all. Mostly beer a few cocktails. But games ohhhhh my its has original Mario Bros, Donkey Kong, NBA Jam Tournament Edition, Killer Instinct, Tron, Ghost and Goblins, Defender, Burger Time it even has Punch Out and it has plenty of Pinball machines. A excellent blast from the past I thought I was 10 again. Oh it has Mortal Kombat II also. I can go on and on you must go check them out. Buy plenty of beer and snacks because the games are absolutely free. Please support them as I hope they are around for a long time to come.
Nice selection of beer and games. We had a good time. The only challenge for us was parking, but part of that was due to snow on the ground.
Great place had an awesome time. I was reading a number of reviews and people were complaining the pinball was a dollar. No menshioned that all the other games are free to play and there are allot of old games.
Great selection of games! Beer prices are very reasonable. So much fun!!!
What a fun place! The whole experience was fantastic. All the games were great and the staff was friendly. My only wish would be for a more extensive beer list.
Fun place but would like to see a few more mixed drink options.
Had a great time at this place. The beer was great and all of the arcade games took me back to my childhood. We came on a very busy night, and I still didnt have to wait long for a machine to open up. It does get a little cramped and warm when its that busy, but it was well worth it for the amount of fun we had.
What a creative name! Galaga 88 was a whole new experience for me.
A great place if you are into classic arcade games. They recently expanded which has made the location even better with an expanded section for more pinball machines. Relatively small, but well curated beer selection. This place is super fun and always full with like minded gamers. Well worth a trip.
A great little find. Retro arcade games, good drinks, pinball games, craft beers, friendly staff. Highly recommend.
A great place to have fun with friends. I cant believe I lived in Indy for 3.5yrs without visiting this place. It has a neat old school game vibe with games to fit the theme. The games are all free except for the pinball machines, and the beer isnt terribly priced. They have trivia weekly and other events going on regularly. The expansion on the facility makes it an impressive size, and Ill definitely be back.
Lots of great old retro games with some great new ones like Super Smash Bros Ultimate. Easily my favorites are the Street Fighter 3rd Strike cabinet and probably the four player X-Men cabinet. Very awesome place for gaming and drinking. Definitely try the Jade Dragon slush.
This place is so much better after it expanded. The area is much more comfortable to walk around and theres even more games to play. The drinks are always excellent, and they have Frozen drinks now for the summer. They also now have old and new consoles to play on top of the arcade
Games were all free when I went which was awesome! Honestly, the Peach Please margarita was one of the best margaritas I have ever had!
Games are great, staff is friendly. Wish the beer list was a bit more expansive though.
A lot of nostalgia here including half the games that have dead controls or buttons that dont work : ) I felt like a 12 year old arcade rat again only now I have a car, a wife, and really good credit. The booze situation here is sad though. This is not a top shelf bar so stick to bottled or canned beers and skip the cocktails.***Edit to reply to owners***Stop by your business and play the games for yourself or delegate that to someone on your payroll. Employees should be doing your quality control, not your customer base.
Terrible customer service. Tried to call multiple times to set up a party arrangement. No answer or call back. Went there and got nothing said they could host party. Ruined sons birthday night. Definitely don’t recommend.
Love this place! They always have unique and tasty drink specials! The arcade games are awesome! So many to choose from!
Great selection and variety of games! We brought my sister here for her birthday and she had a lot of fun! I wish there was more than one racing game though. They have a good selection of beers, but I found it odd that the cocktails come out of a tap (they still tasted good). Lastly, they also don’t sell shots which was disappointing since we were there for a birthday. Overall, good place to play some awesome games and drink some tasty beer.
Great games. Takes you back to shoving quarters and tokens into those machines back in the 80s. Take your gamer friends and play and drink.
Best arcade bar in Indy! And, they even expanded their bar, making it even better! Great beer at the bar and super clean/comfortable areas throughout the entire place.
Amazing arcade bar with no cover charge. All the games are free. They have many arcade cabinets such as burger time, Q*bert, Centipede, Tron, Tappers, Mortal Kombat, Joust, etc. They also have a few pinball machines (these you do need to pay for) Luckily they have an ATM and a coin machine.Only downside is that they only take debit or credit, not cash. It isnt really a big deal though. Love this place. The ambiance is chill and their music choice is always great. The staff is super friendly and helpful! Definitely a 10/10
There is such a large variety of games to play here! I came here on new years eve, and it had a decent crowd as the night went on, but nothing too chaotic. The drinks were decently priced and the vibe of the whole place was very relaxed and feel-good. I love the retro style games, and it was a great place to go with friends. I love this bar!
I’m a bit of a pinball nut so this place is the Mecca of Indiana pinball! Regular arcade games are free to play. Pinball games vary in price from 50 cents up to a couple bucks. They do a great job of rotating games through. They have a solid, although slightly pricy, craft beer list. I’d recommend coming on a Saturday or Sunday during the day if you’d like more access to the popular games. Definitely takes you back! Highly recommend.
My favorite bar, no competition. Dont forget quarters if you like pinball . It can get super busy/crowded at times, so if you dont like crowds aim for a slow day/ night. Its no wonder why its so popular.
What a fantastic place, definitely a fun environment for a get together! Staff was awesome and friendly! I will have to make to for another visit!
Free games! Love it.
Dope place! Beer is pricey, just have a couple drinks elsewhere and grab one while youre there.
I liked this place a lot before their expansion, but after they added a whole new section this place is even better. It feels so spacious, and the added staff adds to the charm of this place. Servers and bartenders are friendly, and I like the unique drink selection that feels catered to the people who would hangout there. The game selection is also fantastic, lots of classics and gems that I never thought Id actually play on a cabinet. Definitely a place I love to go to with friends and an essential stop for people interested in the barcade scene. Their events are also fun, and dont feel haphazardly organized. The atmosphere is top notch and the internal design is well done. One of my favorite bars in Indy
Great game selection, good drinks. Try the pretzel dogs! We had a great time.
First time visiting was for a pinball tournament. Absolutely wonderful place to hang out and the drinks are good! Definitely making a trip back soon!
Most of the games are free which is a plus, they prefer if you buy a drink.
Plenty of retro games. Love the old school, skate park, graffiti retro, wall murals. A true Indy gem.
Really cool arcade! Tappers has a lot of classics, as well as modern pinball machines. The alcohol and snack menu is great as well. Highly recommend bringing a group of friends!
