Free parking & admission. Open 10 - 4:45. No pressure donation box. Bring quarters to feed koi / opportunist ducks. After 11:30 llama, donkey, and mini horses can be seen. I spent 1 1/2 hours, but 45 minutes is probably average.

So I know that its a free zoo (donations requested), but I honestly feel like it has gone downhill over the past several years. Thats just my opinion and some may totally disagree, I just felt like we were in and out of the place in like 30 min. Again, I realize that its free, and that is greatly appreciated, just have noticed that it isnt as impressive as it once was. Also, they moved a lot of stuff, including that they now have something like a petting zoo? But its only once a day, so we missed that. I believe its the same animals that you used to be able to walk up really close to, and now theyre very far away if youre not there for their one time daily action. All of that being said, Id still take my kids back when we need something to do, but dont necessarily have all day to drive to Wichita.

A great free activity for all the family. Its not a big zoo so it maybe takes an hour to complete. There are activities and a play area inside to occupy some time. A cute little gift shop in the office. When I went there was free access to a wheelchair if needed, has to be checked out with the staff first.

They have a great selection of animals for younger kids to experience . Without all the rush of the bigger zoos . It may not be a huge place but the time you can spend with them is priceless anyway . The have a avariy for birds That was really cool if your child likes birds. The lama is funny too hes got a personality like not other Ive meet.Hey the even have a TRAIN ! That takes you on a ten minute ride threw the back side of the park and you get to see the reabilatition animals .The park has two bald egeals one only has one wing he lives there full time . The staff are Amazing by the way !!! Top of the line smiles all the time. I will go back very soon.

Visited on an Oct Tuesday afternoon. We had walked around the whole zoo and were headed back out before we saw another person. The only worker we saw was the lady in the gift shop. Some of the exhibits appeared empty. The highlight of our 2 year olds visit was feeding the fish and the little playground. Train was not running since it was a weekday. Overall not a bad zoo just very small and doesnt have much for the traditional zoo animals, its mostly smaller native animals.

The Hutchinson Zoo is a great place to go to spend some time. The Zoo is always in great shape! They take great care of this place and it seems like they are always doing something to improve it! The facilities are super clean indoors and out! Im from SW KS and Ive been to the Garden City Zoo which is one of the largest free zoos in the US and Ive seen animals here at Hutchinson that they didnt have there! Enough cant be said about the rehab center here. They do AMAZING work in there and we are very fortunate to have them in our community! I think most would be shocked to find out just how much good is being done here! They have the best staff around who is always helpful and knowledgeable. They also put together some really fun events here for the community and especially the kids! All around great place Id give more stars if I could!

Beautiful little zoo. Free admission. (Please, make at least a small donation!) Looking forward to the reveal of the new exhibit(s) and improvements. Ride the train! Renting a wagon for the little ones to ride in is only $2! Stop by the gift shop for snacks, cool drinks, and souvenirs. Even your small purchase benefits the animals and the zoo. The restrooms are very clean and well-kept. Water fountains can be found in several locations throughout the zoo. Bring change so you can buy food for the fish, turtles, and ducks! Lovely water features, plants, flowers, and walking paths. One of my favorite exhibits--the prairie dog domes, where visitors (children and small adults) can get right in the middle of the habitat!

Its a quaint little zoo with a nice walkway. When we visited they were adding on an expansion, so part of it is closed. We visited when they opened so there werent many people and the animals were cutely sleeping. The park itself is free, while the train costs little to nothing and you can give donations to keep the park going. Our family of 6, all adults, enjoyed our morning walk and train ride. The Hutchinson Zoo is a beautiful facility. It is well maintained and has a full-time staff. The fact that the Zoo has free admission is astounding given the amount of attention the city and its employees give the location. Admittedly, the zoo is fairly small but the animal enclosures and interactive exhibits it does have are awesome. This is a great place to spend an afternoon with the kids. Although the Zoo is free, there is a suggested donation of $2. Dont worry, no one will hassle you for a donation, there is a simple donation box just after the entrance. When I visited, there was a good amount of construction going on in the back part of the Zoo, it was not distracting but it did make me curious what addition is coming to the Zoo.After you have finished at the Zoo, there is a small train that can be ridden for a short tour around the nearby park. The train ride last about 8 minutes and cost $3 a head. You can get a ticket in the Zoo gift shop.
