Another local favorite. Restrooms behind the gorilla cage were open and very clean. Family restrooms are built in as well. Go up the hill and check out the restored Old Lady in the Shoe or go for an an easy walk around the pond. Great place for toddlers to learn to bike. Theres a fenced in dog park near by. Also the 9/11 Memorial is worth a visit if U have never been to Bensons. The playground is excellent for toddlers but my 8 yr old is getting a little big for it.

Great walking trails and dog park! Perfect place to go for a walk in nature, many different trails for many different fitness levels from flat concrete to mild hiking. The dog park is very spacious, lots of friendly dog visitors. The dog park is free to use, check the website for more detailed information. We love to bring our pup here without needing a membership.

This is a wonderful park for families and you can bring the dog. Many trails to choose from as well as several ponds on the property. Also a great place for birders. Vast and beautiful and be sure to check out the lovely memorial to 9/11. They did a superb job on the details put into this memorial.

Quiet and tranquil today. Great place for a jog, walk or for fresh air. Theres a dog playground. The gorilla house, a remnant of the zoo days, is a reminder of what we do to caged animals. It should be destroyed and a memorial put in its place in memory of its last tenant who went south to Florida when zoo closed. The former owner regretted trying to make the park more amusement related than a place to exhibit animals in caring manner. That would have required more exhibit improvements and more money which was a scarce resource during those recessionary times. The mixed history doesnt take away from the parks current state and tranquil state with much of the effort and thanks provided by the Friends of Benson Park. A very dedicated group of volunteers who help with maintenance and improvements. What you see is for the most part the work of the Town Of Hudson and the Friends organization.

Its a great place to bring the family or go for a great walk or run. The landscaping is beautiful and there are wild rabbits in many places. The family loves going to unwind and ditch the stress. This is a beautiful park. A long time ago it was an amusement/animal park. I remember going to it when I was very young. Some of the original things still exist like The Old Womans Shoe, the Elephant House and the Gorilla House. It has many beautiful walking/nature trails, a playground, and a very nice 911 memorial. There is a lot of wildlife to see too. I definitely recommend it.

Nice park made out of the old Bensons Wild Animal Park. Some of the original buildings remain like The Old Woman in The Shoe, the gorilla house, and the station. The park has a play ground that is handicapped accessible. It has lots of benches, some picnic tables, a 9-11 Memorial and lots of small flower gardens. The park has a few trails to run, hike or mountain bike. The longest trail is 2.5 miles long. Watch out for the poison ivy.... best to stay on the trails.

I went here as a child when it was Bensons Animal Farm. Regrettably I cannot remember what it looked like back then but a lot of the old buildings are still here. There is even a museum but it wasnt open today. This is a very large park with a lot of space to walk and a lot of ponds to sit in front of and relax. Dont make the mistake that I did with the parking though. I believe I turned into the main entrance but the main gate was closed so I just parked where I was which ended up being permit parking. If the gate is closed drive past the main entrance and then a few feet away is another entrance to a parking lot.

Beautiful place to bring my dog. Lots of room to explore and water for him to take a dip in on those hot days. There are trash cans around and its very well maintained. The porta potties were kinda gross. Its difficult to keep this maintained, but thats what would earn this place five stars in my book. By no means does that make this place not worth visiting.

It would be nice if The small dog park was given the care and thoughtfulness that The large dog park got. The small dog park does not have enough room to run and the surface is horrible and hard to walk on. Not enough seating. Big dogs bm is not being picked up in the small dog park and it is rather depressing compared to the large dog park which has been given good thought and care.

This place is amazing. Perfect for a nature walk where you can bring your family and pets. This place used to be a zoo but is now a nice park where you can take your dogs for a good walk. They have a few blinds as well for those wanting to get up close and personal with wildlife without disturbing them. If you are looking for a day with the kids but do not want the hassle of a beach day traffic or need a new place to let that puppy run off all that energy, Bensons should be on the top of your list.
