Pretty serene place for the most part. Nice views of the skyscrapers and old oak trees. This time not so much! It was time for the Art Car Parade! It was a great one this year. A little rain towards the end but was prepared.

Surprisingly tranquil park nestled within the bustling city. A popular site for photographers of the structures of Houstons early days against a backdrop of the modern skyline. Old homes from different eras have been preserved in this park with placards that tell the history. An old church and also a small museum run by the historical society are also on site for a good lesson on Houstons origins.

Nice park in downtown Houston. On Sundays you cant actually go in the houses because the Heritage Society is closed but you are able to call and listen to an audio tour which is convenient. This park is also conveniently located near Buffalo Bayou Park.

Houston had a hidden gem, excellent spot and we found both the old buildings and the local squirrel to be very lovely. It has a selection of historic buildings set on a lovely park where you can wonder around freely and enjoy. The location is very close to town making it excellent

Spent some time here listening to the history of Houston. Very interesting. You walk around the park visiting many different historical structures wile listening to prerecorded facts about the property. If you love history and would like to take a little peak into the history of Texas awesome place to start.

Nice park with many interesting historical structures which you can view from the outside via a call in audio tour they provide...However dont count on the tour schedule they post as their volunteer guides are highly unreliable and may not show up..The 1 day we were able to be there both the morning and afternoon guides were no shows. In these cases management has no back up plans and just cancels the tours..Audio guide was too faint to be able to hear it. Disappointing. A small pond with ducks does offer some wildlife.

Although you have highways overheard, you still feel this peacefulness while the city pulsates above. Excellent views of urban landscapes. I recommend good walking shoes.

A real piece of Texas history nestled in the heart of downtown. Learn about the influential families of Houstons past and see where and how they lived from passionate guides. Walk through their one of a kind old timey general store and gift shop for a walk down memory lane.

In town on a four day trip, I grabbed an uber and headed down to check out the history within Houston. Although the website stated they were open, when I arrived nobody was around and all the homes were locked. From the outside, there looks to be quite a historical artifacts with the walls that would have been worth checking out. Maybe one day I will return to Houston and attempt another experience.

A good historical place to educate and inform someone of the history of Houston. You can use your phone to call about each building and listen to a recorded message about each site. There are also people reenacting on occasion as well.

Make you way to this park, its worth the walk especially if you are close by. Its City intended and there are usually events going on here. It makes for a great gathering location. Plus there are roughly 9 old structures move to the city park and maintain by the heritage foundation. You cant go in them unless you take one of the paid tours but you can certainly walk around them. I recommend that you make the stop to the heritage museum and take the guided tour and learn about the history of these old structures in and around the Houston downtown area.

Nice park in the middle of Downtown Houston. Quiet, relaxing place to visit alone or with the family. There is also a area with settings for kids. I saw wildlife (crane, turtles, ducks) in the pond area. Very scenic as you can also visit the historic society landmarks while there. Have a picnic or just read a book, but you will enjoy this park. Also be sure to visit the current Open House exhibit. I would recommend visiting.

Beautiful park dedicated to the history and culture of Houston, taking that into context, this park is a outdoors museum, there isnt a better place for the monument of the spirit of the confederacy I dont understand why these hate groups want to remove it when it is already in a museum, surrounded by historic structures of Houston. It was designed by a Italian sculptor who worked in Washington D.C., he also designed the Galveston Texas Heroes Monument.Lets not remove a piece of art, when it is already in a museum.
