Awesome bike trails. So nice to have this right in the middle of the city. Great trails, facilities, shade trees, picnic area, playground. A joy to visit
Love walking here each Saturday. Have seen a doe and her fawn, rabbits, a turtle, feral cat a raccoon never know what each walk will being.
The trails were good the trees and wildlife were plentyfull. The path was in use with plenty of space for social distancing.
Houston has a good number of parks available for recreation at no cost to those who visit. Some of the parks have made a name for themselves due to their open visibility, but there are other parks that, in spite of their significant size, remain generally unknown. One of them is Cullen Park in west Houston, right next to Katy.Cullen Park is a multi- purpose park and visitors will find baseball fields, soccer fields, playgrounds, covered pavilions, a bike track, walking trails, etc. The area is mostly wooded and it is common to see deer and other wildlife. The main reason I like to visit Cullen Park is the walking trails. They have a few, but the one I like best is also the longest trail in the park. It starts in the Phase 2 picnic area, right next to the exercise area, and it continues all the way to Highway 6. The total length of the path is almost 3.5 miles, so a walk all the way to the end and back is close to 7 miles total length. There are wooden markers along the path, marking the miles in quarter- mile increments. This is very handy for those who like to track their miles walked. This long path is good for walking or bicycling and it even passes by an historic cemetery. It is common to see people walking their dogs along the trails in Cullen Park and I like that there are so many tall trees to keep it mostly shaded. There are a few open spots, but the majority of the time spent on the trails is shielded from the sun, and that means you don’t need sunscreen. There are benches along the path for resting and I like how there are so many trash receptacles along the path and throughout the park, to keep things clean.Cullen Park isn’t as popular as other Houston parks and the main reason for this is the fact that it is located on Saums Road, which is not a major throughway. I live near the park and didn’t even know it existed for many years. Now that I know about this park, there is an excellent chance I will be returning in the future. It’s a good place for recreation and exercise here in west Houston.
We always enjoy going to this park. Lots of area to roam around and plenty of picnic tables.
The place does not look safe. I parked my car, I saw broken window on the floor in 2 different places. Besides that, while running, I saw 2 skinny guys following me twice. I did not feel safe. It is a shame because it is a perfect place to run, a lot of trees.
One of my favorite parks in Houston. Long and comfortable trails today was a gorgeous day for a walk. You can spend here all day as the trail is long enough with benches along the paved trail
This park is perfect for families or anyone who loves nature and outdoors. The trails here are beautiful and shaded but could use more adequate structure. A perfect place to walk to clear your mind or meditate as I do. Do not depend or rely on Google Maps for accuracies on the locations of trails, you may venture off map and get lost. However, it is generally safe. Youll discover interesting routes and explore beautiful scenery but always watch your step. Some restrooms are closed for unknown reasons. Ultimately, a serene and one of my top favorite place.
Its a beautiful place that has been around for 20+ years, makes walking, running and any other park activities more fun!
Ample parking space, trash receptacles everywhere as a result a very clean park. The numerous soccer pitches were enough for my local Saturday morning pick up game. Very breezy park with picnic benches and tables. A must visit if you are in the area and just want some fresh air or enjoy a game of baseball, soccer.
Nice park but should be cleaned and taken care
Nice location lots of birds and squirrels...peaceful
Cullen park trails are very peaceful and tranquil. Not a lot of people which is great. And love how shady the trails are.
Great place to go biking with the family. The tables and benches are pretty dirty though and theres some trash in the wooded areas.
I went Wednesday this week for a much needed walk. While there someone busted my front window out and stole my wallet. Had they simply asked I would have given them the few dollars in cash but now I have to pay for a new window. This was between 11am-11:58amBroad daylight is said. My coworker had lost 8 people in less than a month and needed consoling. Walking using social distance in the park was the first time Ive been out the house to do anything except get food or mail face masks . Well never again.
Large park with a pavilion, running trail (N Trail), a lot of benches around the park to relax, Small trail near the pavilion so that you can do a small jogging. There is a splash pad but it is not working at the moment. Few drinking water fountains around the trail and a restroom.Apart from the trail there are four large baseball fields, four football parks, The Alkek Velodrome, it is a 333 meter concrete track.Good parking space for vehicles.
Needs to be maintained better. I got poison ivy hiking on the trail and the bike trails need some attention, new boards and what not, but other than that pretty good view and exercise spot.
A beautiful place for cycling or hiking.
Very nice park. I recommend it to anyone in the area.
Its a cute little place, hard to find nice parks like this in the middle of Houston. I went here with some food on a date and we thought it was perfect, until the wind knocked my food off the table. I give the park five stars, and the wind that day zero stars, that jerk!
Peaceful..took a quick nap while waiting on Dr. appointment . No problem. People were playing soccer and enjoying the day. Will stop by to relax at this park if ever in the area. Seems like a safe place during the day.
Perfect trail to avoid the sun. Feels like I’m running through a nature trail. Love it for some long distance
Enjoy the great out doors.Nice place
Hidden park with trails running alongside the bayou. Walk, run, bicycle, play soccer or have a small gathering at one of the several pavilions. Great place to destress & commune with nature. Only bothersome thing is the trash accumulation in the waterways but everyone is to blame for that, trash & litter is coming from upstream somewhere.
This is a great park! So well maintained and the people are nice
My go to for vegan Indian food!
Cullen Park is a busy place in far west Houston/eastKaty... There are something like 7 soccer fields with 3 that have night lights. There are 4 baseball diamonds and the velodrome for bike racing. I assume you have to reserve the soccer fields, etc. since there seem to be leagues competing all the time. There are also covered picnic areas and a water splash area with water jets for the kiddos. There seems to be ample parking except when all the soccer leagues have games going on.
This is a great place to park your vehicle if you want an insurance check during catastrophic rain events. Why do I say this? Well, there were no fewer than a dozen cars parked there during the 3 big floods before Harvey and during Harvey. Other than that, its a big park, lots of parking and plenty of fields for softball and soccer.
Nice little 3 mile hike today looking for geocaches!! Would be nice if someone updated the park and cleaned up the litter but its a great place to walk trails!
Like this park but for my little ones, the drop off to the creek is huge by the one playground so keep an eye on the toddlers. Was hard to keep my kids away from it
Clean and spacious park
A great park with walking trails, wonderful picnic areas and playgrounds. I only wish there was a good map of the park on line.
Went at night and restrooms were still open
Nice park. It has a lot of trails for hiking and mountain biking, which I do, and really enjoy it.
A good place to lay down and meditate
Always fun. The kids had a great time. Always fun to see the turtles
Picnic table under trees made it almost bearable during the heat wave
Great amazing park
I dont remember going here three days ago? Guess I should go and check it out? Looks pretty. Do they have horses? Thats awesome!
Really good looking park especially the fields for soccer. Not entirely sure if they are all open to the public though
Had a long bike ride and it was awesome though I got scared at a point awesome experience
This is a really nice park. Love all the trails.
Nice park.
Great kids playground and the park itself is tucked back away so a lot of people dont head here. Lots of room to play and not have to fight for parking or space to enjoy.
Cool place to relax in the evening.
Great place to have family time
Nice park with trails and all kinds of equipment.
If u find good rocks u can skip them good for ur kids
We love this park. Specially in mornings when the weather is amazing. Usually well maintained. We wish they would clean up faster. But we appreciate them nevertheless
I absolutely love riding my bike surrounded by nature, hidden in the middle of such a bust city. There is something poetic and therapeutic about this place.
We still have a lot of exploring of this park to do as it is so large but we went on a very nice trail into the woods that was great for our dog
Nice! Wide open spaces, plenty of trash cans, well taken care of. Soccer goals for days!
I had fun and I was happy that it was a boy from the gender reveal
The sports field are really will maintained. Trimmed grass, racked dirt on the softball fields, nets oh the soccer fields. The promenade not so much. The bathrooms werent very clean, there was rust on the piping and walls. Parking is very good and appears to be safe. We had a great event this Friday.
Love this place. Went with my husband so pretty there
Had my first cx race here at this spot. Great velodrome, concrete, I do not know much about velodromes.
Needs TLC but a nice park, overall.
This place is awesome, not crowded and really beautiful. Only part that is a little inconvenient is having people bring their pets and letting them run around and my kids who are crazy for dogs chasing them and all the awkwardness that comes with that. Maybe make the children’s playground a pet free area.
Perfect spot for another amazing Halloween photoshoot all pictures came out amazing
I love buffalo, best range in Houston
A very nice park to take your family
Awesome always love my time there
Excellent place for family and Frans reunionsIt is a tranquility Park
Great park with new playground equipment and trails for runner/bikers. Also plenty of open spaces for other activities. Once and awhile it gets flooded but typically drains quickly.
Its a large park with many amenities.
NEVER have you auto out of your site, break ins ALL the time, look in the parking lot auto glass all over, my auto was broken into, ive see several autos with the side glass just broken . park somewhere with families around, never all by yourself
Great park to exercise in when it hasnt rained and mosquitoes arent out
Great park to do a lot of outdoor sports with the family or friends
Love love love this park!!! nice and green!! The only thing I wish is that theyd clean the trash that collects in the small rivers and waterways in the springtime. I once rescued a little turtle from a plastic bag. Other than that very nice park, I have never been during the night but as early as 5am there are little old ladies and bikers cruising the sidewalks so you wont feel so alone!
I dont like this place at all. There are 2 separate parts on either side of Saums road. The one to the South is big, beautifully maintained sports fields with high chain link fences around them and locked gates that just scream, We dont want your kind here!. On the North of Saums road is a ratty potholed road with trash strewn playgrounds and a few very badly maintained fields with ankle high weeds. Thats for the rest of us. Go just a bit East to Bear Creek Pioneers Park and find a welcoming and well maintained park open to all.
Awesome place for the Pokemon go fan and the everyday person
We love it!!! water spout area in summer is great for the kids. we took our dog there one time w our kids when it was empty and they had a blast!
Nice park. Big pavilions. Two playgrounds. Lots of really cool trails to explore. Three restrooms with like five stalls in each one. Regular toilets, instead of those metal ones. We will be back.
Nice park. Only complaint I have is, they need some maintenance, cleaning done. Bathrooms are dirty and smell really bad. No soap to wash your hands.
There are nice, shady trails that are perfect for walking, jogging in the summer.
Lots of tables and parking. Nice walking trails through the woods. Saw lots of birds. Wear mosquito repellent in the woods!
Great for running, pretty 10k route from the park to Hwy 6
Great for soccer but gets puddles easily
Cullen Park is a running resource in Houston. However, you have to try not getting killed crossing a four lane w median Barker Cypress intersection. The actual trail is falling apart---so expect to spend yr time watching yr feet to avoid tripping & stepping on all the many snakes there.I saw a bobcat, a coyote who all looked very hungry. Also the trail floods immediately w any rain. I miss Portland,Oregon where you can run virtually anywhere cause there is no CONCRETE JUNGLE to deal with. I give it 2 stars by virtue of having such limited options to train here.
What used to be a beautiful park to walk and bring the kids with clean restrooms... seems to have been abandoned, restrooms are now locked up and the place is overgrown and not Well maintained. Hope to see it perked back up again in the future.
Nice trails shaded well and two playgrounds for the kids
Great park, very quiet and fun for all families !
Huge park! Camp grounds, soccer and baseball fields. Nice place to go to get away from the city in the city.Just need better markers at night to get around. Most people can get lost.
One of the few places I have seen fire flies.
Very nice place to bring the family. There is plenty of space to barbecue and a small duck pond.
Good park for sports practices. The trails for running and exercising are a bit run down.
Great clean fun for the kids and family.
