Its really a nice place to shop.Nice people.Beautiful homes and parks.
The park playground is completely fenced in with multiple slides and swings as well as an open area with grass. The park is pretty shaded with tree coverage and there are neat features like a pumpkin coach and a xylophone. There are also four tennis courts, sand volleyball and a small basketball court. The park itself is fairly large but the fenced in playground area is smallish (but a nice enough size). It has plenty of benches. A really nice park overall with creative playground features.
River Oaks Park is beautiful, captivating, and breathtaking in providing its local residents with a wonderful green space for all types of people, from child to adolescents to adult and senior citizens. Exercising in this park is not uncommon, and runners/joggers, such as myself, provides the locals a myriad of social interaction through outdoor activities. Running/ jogging in this park is something quite special, especially being around lush greenery and trees that adore the entire park. If you have not visited this park yet, I would definitely visit soon. You will be missing out on such a beautiful space to relax.-CDMGoogle Badges: Master Reviewer, Master Photographer, Expert Fact Finder, Novice Trailblazer, Novice Director, Level 7.11/24/2019
This park has grown on me. I went twice this past week as we had unusually nice weather to be outside mid-summer and there is a decent amount of shade. The second time there was quite a bit of trash, though, which I thought was strange. They have a great mix of slides, rock climbing, stairs and baby swings that works well for my 21-month old daughter.
My kids love this park. It has swings and slides. Its also gated.
Courts are old but not bad.
Clean park. Love the community library. There were plenty of space for children to play.
Great palace to visit with all, family-friendly, restrooms.
Lovely park. It is ideaFor kids between 1 and 6 y old. Sometimes parking there can be tricky if the weather is nice, or during weekends. Is one of those parks where you can be setting and check the kids easily. Plus has bathrooms
Small fun park. Good for young kids. Parking can be a challenge on busy days
Excellent little park for toddlers because swings are available
Nice. Clean. Civilized people.
It’s a nice park. Small and simple but has all the goods.
Traffic is crudy and rude drivers
Not that big not that small. Great trees provide great shade. Kids have a blast.
Good park with lot of things to do, tennis court, basketball courts, volleyball etc
Great place for the kids ... lots of shade for the parents and playground stuff for the kids
Great shaded park with a variety of playground equipment and completely fenced in. Perfect place to take a toddler on a hot summer day!
This has been one of our favorite parks since my daughter was an infant. Today we get to enjoy it with her now five and our son who is three! We started back in 2012 before the rebuild which has made it even greater! The pumpkin carriage is so wonderful...a place where the little princess and Prince can enjoy their make believe! Very family friendly and surrounded by beautiful homes and great restaurants.
Nice clean quiet little park with a few park equipment for kids to enjoy. Pet friendly.
Very nice and clean
Fantastic part of the city
Another enclosed park for younger children with the music pipes and several levels of skill for climbing and slides as well as swings. Only problem is when people fail to close the entry door. Most parents are very attentive so theres next to no issues of discord and the place is clean as a whistle. Lots of picnic tables with great views of play areas. The Cinderella pumpkin chariot is a cute touch.
Beautiful place. Needs a tent or roof for rain
Nice park and community center.
The trees are beautiful here and they give plenty of shade to the playground.
Good but bathroom doors are locked
I love this park because it has restrooms nearby (they get locked later in the evening though around 5-6 p.m.) and the playground itself is made for younger children which I love since I have a 3 & 4 year old that need constant close supervision. The size of the playground and safety measures allows for some leisurely parent/supervisor downtime to sit and read a book, catch up with friends, phone time or whatever indulges your mind. The park is fenced in and the door has a nearly child-proof lock so thats a relief. Theres wishing trees nearby where anyone can leave a written wish or wishes on provided paper tags that hang on the trees and a small library box outside of the playground where one can bring a book donation and take home a new book in exchange for the donation. Bring a book, take a book
Nice environment...Fun for tennis
Small quiet resting place with benches by the trees a play area for kids
Great little park for children. Lots of shade to keep cool.
Kids say its better than the rest nearby.
We attended a friend’s birthday party for their son. It’s a beautiful, clean, well shaded, enclosed playground with a lot of play equipment and picnic tables and seats. There’s plenty to do from toddler to about 10 years of age. There are also water fountains and bathrooms nearby.
Fun for kids of all ages
Plenty of space. Very safe and secure at night.
Great playground with a lot of shade.
Great little park if you live nearby, but not much of an attraction if you have to travel very far to get there. Has an outdoor volleyball pit, a few tennis courts, and a childrens playground, some benches, and large shade trees. It is not terribly large. I just go there to walk the dog.
Tennis, basketball, AND a fun playground made this a good place to meet up with family, have a picnic, and hang out. I might not do that in July, but the weather was beautiful in April.
A very nice looking park. I enjoyed looking at the trees, the sky (it was partly cloudy with cumulus clouds), and we even saw an angel who manifestedin the clouds. I think it was fake though. They might fool some but I seen real angels before. The weather was a little warm for my son (he has a sensitive thyroid which I believe may cause him to carry a few extra pounds. Warm places can make him sweat. Sweat is a trigger for us both. I know its hard to rely on mother nature so I was going to give the park a 5 star rating. I went to press the post bottom when Jeb asked what are those squirrels doing? I am a lady and will save you all the awful details, but there was two squirrels (of the same sex) doing unnatural and salacious squirrel business like it was one of those shows in Mexico but with squirrels, and baby bottles substituted for beer. NIMBY! I ordered signs with pictorial message to every creature, as Im sure others were influenced by the squirrel-s** show (I saw two turtles sitting like 3 inches apart on this log, when there was at least 5 foot of log available. Birds were chirping a song by a well known HS!) Will consider a return if: suspected squirrels are sequestered and exorcised of sins and possess considerate compunction and/or fitted with chastity shorts (Im willing to provide my sewing expertise here. I dont want to get PETA started again about rodent castrations); fans are installed every 6 ft as advised by perambulation-persperation experts; logs be cut to one-turtle length. God Bless and MAGA
A very good place for kids to have fun. Also a dog walking park. There is public bathroom on premises.
Its been rebuilt recently and it looks absolutely gorgeous from behind the fence. Frankly, it was a five-star playground for both me and my little guy before they renovated. It was GREAT for grown-ups calisthenics and climbing. I believe it opens tomorrow so Ill try to remember to report back with more details.
Nice family park with community center and basketball court.
Cute playground with lots of fun equipment and shade. It was also nice that public bathrooms are nearby.
Cute park very well kept. Only problem is its small. So green space be filled up quickly. Wonderful walking loop.
Great for young kids. Super clean and safe environment. Small park but it has fun playground for children and seats for adults. Upscale neighborhood
Really great park. The fence around the play area is super nice. Allows a parent to relax a bit and let their kiddo run free for a bit knowing the fence with dual locking gate will keep them in bounds. Lots of play equipment for kids of all sizes. The bathrooms are locked on weekends which leaves this parent quite perturbed (minus 1 star). This park is busy, making parking quite tough. No lot, only street parking. Attached to a neighborhood, which keeps things generally quiet. The backside of the park sits along a busy thoroughfare, but is hidden by trees and shrubs.
Quiet small park, not alot going on here. I few seats, a small paved path. That about sums it up.
Beautiful atmosphere and scenic trees! My favorite getaway!
Very nice and clean family park!
Met some nice people playing basketball
Wonderful little park. Good green space. Play ground. Neighborhood amenities. Shady areas and a good complement of water fountains. And great for catching pokemon.
Literally, this is the coolest park in Houston. Located under shades of 3 big Oak trees, you can come here at 13:00 when the sun is up there. Besides, a cool breeze is always available here.
Safe for kids and beautiful place
Fantastic park with a playground, tennis courts, sand volleyball, basketball goals and a big open field. There is a community rec center that is open on occasion but that also has bathrooms that are always open. The playground was recently redone and is great for the kiddos.
Love the shade! Perfect for my son and any child who loves adventure.
Nice park, great playground equipment,& not enough parking.
Great place to relax
I had a great afternoon with my family. Love this park.
Great spot for little kids.
Its a wonderful little place with a volley ball court, several tennis courts, and a childrens playground moderately equipped. Theres lots of trees and its rather quiet. Looking for just a break or a halfway point to meet? This spot is safe, clean, and friendly.
Great park for kids of all ages! It three large, age-specific play structures all built around beautiful shade trees. Plus theres a tire swing!
Very cozy
Cute small park. Volleyball court, basketball court, picnic area and a fenced in playground for kids. Bathrooms and street only parking. I would say this is a park mainly for the residents to walk to. Its on a residential street.
Great place to walk
Beautiful place for my girls to play
Guys beware! MILF ALERT ISSUED AT THIS PLAYGROUND!
Nice quiet park where you can have a quick lunch or hoop it up on the basketball half court.
Very nice park. Has tennis courts, volleyball sand area, playground, and lots of open space and trees. Also has bathroom and small building. Very nice place to go for an afternoon.
Small neighborhood park, with childrens playground and tennis courts; green, clean and lush.Few parking lot spots and street parking.
The track is just about 1/4 mile. Good enough for training. Can be a little inconvenient with children and people milling about it. Please tidy up the track.
Newly updated. Great for kids birthdays partys. The Park is enclosed and has a mens and womens restroom.
It is a small nicely maintained and very secure park for the youngest of children. Has plenty of room to run and gymbories to play on .
Very good playground equipment, lots of swings; bathrooms; plenty of seats & tables. Great amenities for the size of the park.
Great park
Lobster roll with lobster bisque. Cant got wrong with that.
A good small quaint park if you live in Afton Oaks or River Oaks. It was recently redone so the play sets are all new and up to safe standards.
Great park with a sand volleyball court. Tennis courts. Basketball court. 4 stars only because some people decide to to pick up their dogs crap
I love taking my daughter here great safety and atmosphere
Beautiful park with so much greenery and beautiful trees!
My daughter calls it The Pumpkin Patch Park. We love it!
Nice quiet park parallel to San Felipe off Kirby. Great place for family bbq or get together.
Loads to do. Very secure. Always run into a good playmate for my 3 1/2 year old.
Is a beautiful and safe park. You can even make your own picnics. We have so much fun in there.
Went to this park for a photo shoot. It is good-sized with a fun playground, some unique curiosities, and real fun climbing trees.
This is a small community park offering one sand volleyball court, half basketball court, a childrens area, and four tennis courts. The park is very busy on the weekends and the tennis courts may be reserved weekdays by a school nearby. There are water fountains and bathrooms in the park. The bathrooms are connected to a small community room and may be locked if there is not a neighborhood function going on at the time. Parking is mostly curb side. The trees are very old and provide a lot of shade. The condition of the tennis courts is not the best and neither is the sand on the volleyball court. There are trash cans and park benches and a small walking path of ground up granite.
Love the tennis courts here. Ample street parking
Just renovated, great family Park. River Oaks Patrol keeps things safe but do not leave valuables in the parked vehicles.
Nice use of a space. Pretty trees, benches to sit at, and bathrooms
Love this park, We like the shade and kids different plays, Just been renovated so the kids amenities are great.
Nice park. Tennis Court ( no practice wall), Two Basketball goals, Kid area, Volleyball with sand
Absolutely beautiful
Little park but quite with all services for play an enjoy your time
Great place. My daughter loves it!
Quaint but kind of leaves something to desire.
