The class schedule for the 2019 Houston show is pretty disappointing. 2018 had 9 or 10 classes I wish I could have gone to but was only able to attend 2. This year was hoping to see some of those classes from last year that I was unable to attend and nothing. Not 1 class seems appealing. Last year there was a large amount of offerings for using softer fabrics (fleece/ultra cuddle) and this year nothing but the same old, same old, this is not your grandmothers quilt!

2016 Was my first experience with the International Quilt Festival in Houston. The quilt show was beautiful and daunting, magnificent! The vendors were spectacular, very friendly and helpful. The products the vendors brought to the show were amazing. The teachers were truly wonderful and professional. However, The bus trip we took on Saturday, Nov 5 to the Texas Quilt Museum, painted church, etc. was extremely disappointing. The word museum was misleading, there were no quilt artifacts or old quilts, no history of quilting. This should be called The Texas Quilt Gallery. The shops we visited were lovely. The meal at Celebrations was delicious! The painted church was a HUGE disappointment. A groundskeeper and member of the church was pressured into speaking to our group about the church, but he was clearly caught off guard and nervous...however I give him a lot of credit for rising to the occasion. The tour guide was the worst and most uninformed about the areas we drove thru and the painted church. I have been on other bus tours through out the world, this tour was a great disappointment. The tour guide should have researched the churches. We did so when we returned... we learned nothing of value from the tour guide, but the internet was full of info. I suggest she google painted churches and educate herself. she could have talked to us about the agriculture, products, history, climate, etc. of Texas.I will definitely return to the festival again, however I will not be taking a bus tour.I could find no other place to make this statement. Contact us, would not let me send a email.
