Amazing place to come and hang out with your friends and family. They have movie nights, orchestra performances, and other showings. There is a online website that has a schedule of the upcoming events. There are chairs close to the screen, but it can be uncomfortable to sit there depending on how hot and humid it is. There is a lawn on top of a hill where you can sit and enjoy the show. Be sure to bring a blanket and some chairs to sit on the lawn. There is a nearby concession stand Incase you are hungry or thirsty.

This place offers more than just an outdoor concert area. We were at the Japanese Festival by the Herman Park and wanted to scape from the crowd. We just walked about 100 ft and there were families, kids, dogs enjoying the great weather on a Sunday. Our kids had the chance to chill play run or just simply watch the kites in the sky. Love this place.

Miller outdoor is a Houston treasure. Weve seen a lot of great shows there, for only the price of gas! We used to go all of the time before we had young kids (8pm shows can present a problem if you cant catch a daytime performance), but now that my kids are a bit older Im hoping to go more often again. They have covered seating, with tickets available for pickup. Seats that arent claimed at the start of the show are released to anybody to didnt grab a ticket. As long as the weather is nice, we prefer to picnic on the hill. It has a great view of the stage and makes for good family time to share food and let the kids roll around a bit when they get antsy.Weve seen so many great shows at the theater, every season there is something wonderful to watch.

Wonderful opportunity to hear and see quality performing arts. Sit under the awning with big ceiling fans or up on the top of the hill for a great breeze. The opera we saw was translated on a screen above the stage, so it was perfect for an intro to opera! The hill is divided for blankets (on the left) and lawn chairs (on the left), so everyone can see. The Phillip Glass orchestral production of his South America-inspired symphony has become a new favorite after hearing it on the hill!

(Also see previous comments re: Hermann Park)Miller Outdoor Theatre is THE theatrical gem of the city. Whether sitting hillside for a Theatre Under The Stars musical or watching The Bards best, the program at Miller offers up the best of Houstons stage arts. For free! Some notes: if hillside (well, even in covered seating) insect repellent is suggested; this -is- Houston. Also, while most performances begin at or after sunset, this -is- Houston: stay hydrated and dress for humidity and heat.

Omg! The tribute to Whitney Houston was amazing. It was one of the best concerts Ive been to in my 50 years of living. Belinda Davis did an outstanding job bringing the songs to life. Wow!! She has a beautiful voice and has never taking any lessons. Not to mention, the concert was free. I highly recommend making a donation to the theater in order to keep wonderful acts coming to the stage. My family and I love to sit on the lawn and enjoy the entertainment. A concession stand is available. Soda, popcorn, hotdogs, beer and wine are served, among other items. Plenty of parking and lots of security.

Perfect place to relax, bring kids, have date night, bring the dog, picnic, etc. all while catching a ballet, play, opera, concert, symphony, dance troupe, movie, musical, and much more. Nice place. Parking was not hard to find an hour before a show that ended up packed. Sitting on the hill was cool to see Seussical but may have helped if they had the actual actors on stage on the backdrop screen. Also when the cat in hat came in for live parts he was louder than the actual show- that volume may have held younger (and older talking) viewers attention for longer. Otherwise was a great night with clear weather and a nice breeze. Still thoroughly enjoyed the show.

I imagined struggling to hear the stage while people talk on their phones and kids run around playing. I was really impressed. Sound was great, performance was great and it was very comfortable laying in the grass. I also loved occasionally looking up as airplanes flew over. Also, I think this is the only hill in Houston so its good fun to run or roll down.

The Miller Outdoor Theater is a real gem. We love catching free outdoor shows in the summertime. Ive seen the Houston symphony on multiple occasions, and Suesical the musical recently. Ive also seen a funk show and a few other shows. Ive been to the Miller Outdoor Theater five times in 2019. Loved every bit of it. Seating in front is free with a free ticket you can pick up at the ticket booth, next door, prior to the show. You do not need a ticket if you choose to sit up on the hill directly in front of the theater. Both seating options have their benefits. For instance, if you have young kids that dont feel comfortable sitting for hours in a chair, you may be more comfortable in the less formal hill environment. If you prefer sitting where your view has very little chance of being impeded or you simply cant get to top of the hill, you may prefer to get a ticket and sit up front. The website has a calendar of the events.

There is a covered seated area and an uncovered hill where you can bring blankets and chairs to watch from. Some performances are ticketed which means you need to go there earlier in the same day to get free tickets for the seated area. You dont need tickets for the hill area and its first come, first serve for a spot.
