When visiting the Houston Museum of Natural Science, take the opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of the butterflies and insects at the Cockrell Butterfly Center and Brown Hall of Entomology. The entrance ticket admits you to both exhibits where you can see both live and preserved specimens, and learn about them with interactive games and displays. Explore a rain forest environment with a 3-floor butterfly habitat, get a close look at a range of insects, and visit a play area for kids.
My girlfriend and I enjoyed it a lot more than we thought we would. The interactive exhibit upstairs is fun too. Would definitely recommend it for a fun date!
We went real early. Not many people there. One employee came and asked if we wanted to watch him release butterflies, we did he was so informative. Beautiful place to visit.
Loved this tour. Beautiful butterflies
The butterflies and plants are awe-inspiring. They have bugs in the exhibit before you enter the conservatory, and the information is too notch. They have a resident tortoise and iguana in the conservatory as well
Such a magical experience. I honestly felt like a fairy.
I was expecting more variety of butterflies but it was pretty good. The environment is nice.
My toddlers absolutely adore the butterflies here! They never want to leave, constantly watch the butterflies land on people, and enjoy walking around the entire area. It’s such a relaxing area, even with three toddlers in tow. They also enjoy playing in the kids area near the exit. We love this place!
Such a beautiful place! I’d recommend wearing bright colors and maybe rubbing a little fresh orange on yourself to attract the butterflies. It’s so peaceful and gorgeous inside but it can get crowded and a little humid so be prepared. I’d definitely go back!!
It was educational and beautiful. Enjoy
In the Museum District is the Houston Museum of Natural Science, and inside is the Cockrell Butterfly Center a magical place where the butterflies can land in your head or hand if they feel like to.Different species live there together, you will find different colors different tones types and weird names, some of them are being studied and have a label with a number so if you go and take a picture they will thank you for it.The day I went (some months ago) was almost empty of people because they where near the closing time and I couldn’t find someone to explain me names or aging of the Butterflies but I do find myself photographing a cute orange iguana called Charro. If you want amazing photos and love the nature this is the perfect place to go.Also 2 highlights:*Kids friendly*Cheap for all that you can do and experience.Ambience: 4/5Price: 5/5Follow me on Instagram @jokossitavisuals and @tourismu.s.a for more.

Located in the Houston History Museum is the Cockrell Butterfly Center. What a fantastic and relaxing experience for all ages your and old! Just walking around sitting the butterflys had such a calming and relaxing effect. I dont about 45 minutes there and easily could have stayed longer. Its included in the price of admission and sell worth it!
One of the best places to be on summer to be with loved ones. The place is sure to sink you in awe. The place has an insect museum followed by the butterfly place. The butterfly place is warm with great plants and flowers and butterflies fluttering their wings literally across your face is the best thing that can happen. Loved this place.
One of my favourite places in the world! I live for these flutterbies. How they dance about so beautifully and make everyone smile. So peaceful! Staff was amazing. The fellow from Mexico who has been there for a year ... We told him of a stowaway who made it into the museum. And he libbed it and took it home. Gracias.
This place is so beautiful!
