One of the best laid out zoos I have been to. Due to COVID the entire zoo has been reworked into a one way direction in order to abide by the quarantine rules. Great diversity of animals. Our little ones really enjoyed it. Kudos to the zookeepers.

Absolutely love this little zoo. Its not overwhelming for my small kids and the employees are so awesome. Kale lets us know he was going to feed the Komodo dragons, so we got to watch that. And another employee came and got us to let us know she was going to feed the hippo! So much fun!!

Well designed layout with a perfect path for a walk. The overall feel of the zoo is that of an afternoon stroll in central park but with exotics animals for viewing. I shed a star based on the overall size of the containment areas for these beautiful animals. I know space is limited on an island and especially one on such as Oahu, in Waikiki no less, but they deserve large area to roam. All of them. I maintain 4 stars because I get the impression that they do care for these animals though.

This was a great zoo! The safari animal portion of the zoo was the best!!! It wasnt too crowded and we missed the all the school field trips which was perfect!! I really enjoyed the different animals they had. I have been to the biggest and best zoos but the way this place was set up was fantastic. The staff was so incredibly helpful when. Buying a bottle of water and informing us that we can use the fountain machines to fill the bottle back up if we needed to. One of the smallest zoos but one of the best at the same time. Great to see local species as well.

Hidden at the end of Waikiki beach strip and 12 minutes walk from downtown waikiki, you will find a hidden gem of Honolulu. The Honolulu zoo is one of the unique zoo. Not only you will find local native animals, its also has some exotic animals donated from foreign dignitaries. Like elephant from Indira Gandhi or exotic lizard and some Japanese species. The entrance fee is $19 for adult and $8 for military. From zebra to lion and turtle, pink flamingo and lizard you will definitely enjoy the walk around.

This is one of the worst zoos Ive ever visited. The animals were all way smaller than their normal sizes, they looked malnourished and underfed. The young elephants looked like yoda.. so small and super short. I could literally see and count how many bones the giraffes had as they were super skinny and looked sick. The were not a lot of animals just the basic animals u would find anywhere. It was virtually empty. Although I like the design of it but I was appalled by the state of the animals. Either feed them or return them to the wild where they belong! Only good thing is its located right in the heart of Waikiki next to the beach so thats a plus. But otherwise there are better animal sanctuaries outside the city center.

Went to the Honolulu Zoo with my wife & 6 month old. Theyve made some changes to help maintain social distancing, and there were guides to help direct traffic to avoid big crowds for certain exhibits. There were a lot of animals missing, but enough to still be worth a visit, I think. There are still some seating areas and kiosks available, but limited. There are also a few hand sanitizer stations throughout the trail. Overall, I was satisfied with my experience here today.

Actually this is my first time ever entering and walking through the Honolulu zoo this past weekend. I dont know what my expectations were so I cant say that it met them or not. Clearly its a place thats underfunded and considerable overgrowth blocking views of certain areas. They do have a kamainia discount. living with covid-19 in an environment like that is difficult Im sure so its almost like theyre winging it. Its kind of stressful for everyone in a working situation so I get that. I do hope theyre able to survive and I hope they get funding but theyre going to have to go for a private donations its the only way theyll survive.

Such a wide variety of animals to look at. Its crazy how big the zoo is, you wouldnt expect it in a place like Waikiki. But you can spend a whole day here, walking around, having lunch, relaxing in the shade, and just taking it all in. You can tell that the animals are treated right, and one specific thing I would point to for this is that the elephants had a small habitat before, but they built a much bigger habitat for them which is great to see. And the elephants seem very happy too! The staff at this zoo are friendly. Going to the Honolulu Zoo is great if youre looking for a more mellow day in Waikiki. And its an awesome attraction to go to with family. Its interesting how cut off you feel from the craziness of Waikiki, even though youre still so close to it all!

Although we’d been to Honolulu a number of times we’d never visited the zoo, thinking it’s just a small zoo with a couple of animals. This time we visited and boy did we realise how wrong we were! It’s much bigger than it looks and has a great variety of wildlife. It’s also beautifully laid out and easily accessible. It also has a great area for kids and a few animals we’d never seen before. Well worth the trip. We were so impressed we became members, which is only 50% more than the entry fee.

We finally visited the Honolulu Zoo after living here for over a year. When we first moved here it was undergoing construction, and still has some underway. The zoo is much larger than I expected. Looking at the zoo from the outside it appears small however it is quite spacious once inside. I am a bird fan so I was very thrilled with the aviaries when you first enter the ground.Once past the birds you come to the larger animals. Such as the tiger, the elephants and such. The walk around the zoo was very calm and relaxing. the path is in the shade of trees whenever its possible and the nice habitats for the animals are interesting. My trip to the zoo was near midday so the larger animals had gone for shade to escape the mid-day heat. I will have to go back again to see the exhibits I missed.I was so enjoying the Zoo I forgot to take very many pictures, a situation I shall have to remedy on my return trip.

The goods: they are always improving it, it seat like Honolulu has decided to make their zoo a more legit one in the last few years. Admission is cheap! There are quite a few green areas for kids to run around. The not so goods: there is a limited number of animals. Its not surprising, this is an island. They do have Elephant, lions, hippos, and rhinos, so they are doing pretty good. I would absolutely encourage people to go since they are obviously trying to make this zoo a good one that is worth supporting.

We loved this adorable little zoo! The wildlife looked well cared for, the keepers were friendly, and the zoo itself was easy to navigate. We did not take in any of the refreshments, but we did enjoy all of the lovely trinkets and gifts available at the shop. There was a wide variety of flora and fauna to keep everyone engaged and learning, and we enjoyed comparing our favorite sights afterward. In truth, we ended up springing for a membership because it was readily apparent that we would be returning. Next time we plan on taking in a Twilight Tour to better enjoy the lifestyles of the nocturnal creatures. Definitely a lovely little day trip for the whole family.

A friend had her sons birthday party at the zoo. It was great, they set up tables, catered the food(Delicious by the way), and the families were able to explore the zoo. Took the kid to see the exhibits, not sure if he enjoyed running after the peacocks and playing on the giraffe statue more than seeing the actually exhibits, hes 2 and every creature he saw was Elmo . Family friendly all around, they have a jungle gym area for the kids if they need to release some energy as well as lots of huge trees that provide much needed shade and breeze. I would go early as it can get a bit hot and pack lots of water to stay hydrated. Parking is available but limited as it is pay per hour and you can max it out for up to 6 hours. Great little zoo. So different from the zoo where I live. Lots of great birds and animals. Felt sorry for some of the birds as their exhibits felt small dark and dated. Most of the animals had fairly large areas like the elephants and African dogs and giraffes. We didn’t get to see the lions or cheetahs as they were in an area that wasn’t viewable. Which was my only real complaint. Some animals had tons of view points like the elephants for example. Others had almost no viewpoints like the lions and cheetahs.Didn’t buy any food or drink so can’t comment on their prices or quality.Took us about two hours to cover the zoo and we were happy with that amount of time. It’s a good way to spend the morning before heading to the beach.
