Neat little park. You have to enter through a security gate to reach the park. The remnants of the fort a barely recognizable as it has all collapsed in. If you follow the path across the bridge and view the fort from that side you can see where the old moat was and how the dirt was built up to form the fort. The cannons were pretty cool. One of them could still swivel showing how a soldier would take aim during the war. It took us about 5 minutes to see all there was to see at this fort.
Beautiful little historical preserve, right next to Old Fort Pub, looking out over Skull Creek
Fantastic Views And Historical sites. THANK YOU AND GOD BLESS
Well preserved fort. Markers explain things along the way.
Self tour this civil war site. Interpretive signs explain what you see. Stairs and narrow paths make it not very accessible. Nice view but not spectacular.
Our 10-year-old LOVES everything military history. This was his choice for our last stop while we were in the area. Great for a short little hike with littles or elderly guests. It looks like this place isnt maintained as often as others, but it could be an amazing wedding venue with a little clean up. The shop wasnt open when we were there, but I would love to see inside it sometime. We will return in hopes that it gets a little attention. Some paint on the building and flowers here and there (even low-maintenance wildflowers) and I can see this being a very popular photography spot.
I love seeing old forts but, I dont think we spent more than 10 minutes to get through. Honestly theres not much to see. I couldnt even find anything worth taking a photo
They have a self-guided walking tour. Not much is left, but the story is amazing.
Spooky place at dusk or dawn.
