My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our day at Johnson Farm. We learned how to make lye soap, spin wool, shear sheep, weave cotton, make dump cake, and make hand thrown pottery. We watched a blacksmith at work, learned the history of the house, learned about the one-room school house, and watched some lively clogging teams. There was face painting, corn hole, ring toss, corn husk doll making, hay rides and much more! This a wondetful leaning experience for the kids! Oh, and good food too!
We were there on a very quiet afternoon. The place almost appear closed. not worth the visit….
Very cool little place to stop and visit. Loved the animals. Cool hidden trails behind the barn.
We decided to brave the cool day and stop by Johnson Farm. The inexpensive tour was well worth the time. Our tour guide was excellent and answered all our questions. The grounds are lovely, easy walking and not too spread out. The house does not have elevator so NOT handicap accessible. NOTE: this farm is deeded to local school so there are many school field trips scheduled throughout the year so check ahead for space. Also the ONLY scheduled guided tour is at 10:30 am but there is an audio your available at any time.
Love old historic places, Great house, guides were very knowledgeable.
Very old and authentic farm. The structures are very well taken care of. Its small, and easy to get around and see everything in about an hour. It is very close and convenient to Hendersonville.
Also this is the location of Heritage Weavers and Fiber Artists (boarding house out back)! Classes are offered and there is a wonderful gift shop
We had a great time today! It was an amazing learning experience for 1st graders!
We went on a rainy day- and the tour was amazing! Be sure to check the website for times- only 2 are offered per day. The buildings were air conditioned & full of interesting historical materials. The tour guide was very knowledgeable & happy to answer questions. We even toured the weavers’ area with a class going on!
They are very honest about the things that happened here.
Loved to go here as a child. Now my son loves it.
Loved it! The staff was super friendly and we learned a lot on our school field trip. I will be coming back to visit on my own!
What a beautiful setting. It takes you back to the good old days!
We visited on a field trip with my school. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. They did an excellent job sharing their knowledge and managing the students. Also a great place to visit with your family.
Visited the farm today with a group of first grade students. The volunteers were so kind, they shared relevant information that the students could understand and enjoy. Thank you for all of your hard work, I look forward to visiting again.
The Spring Festival we attended at the farm was a well organized event. There were activities for all ages. Would definitely recommend.
The grounds are available for guests to roam for free, meaning you can see the buildings (main home, barn, etc.) and go on two walking trails (very short, less than 5 minutes each). There are several picnic tables in the shade, and overall a good place for a family picnic. Also, there are several chickens and three donkeys at the barn, which my son thoroughly enjoyed. I did not see a single person (employee or visitor) during the 45 minutes I spent here. The building with the restrooms was locked, although it was during a time when the website said the farm was open.
Loved the new location by the river. Good service
Great historic home and fun family events that profit education here.
Very educational.
Very interesting fiber arts guild there. Is definitely worth a visit.
We went for the Christmas event. Wagon ride was fun, and and seeing the donkeys. Hot chocolate bar was nice. The weaving was so backed up my grandaughters didnt get their bookmarks. They had lots of nice baskets they raffled off. But it was very fishy that all of the workers won one or more baskets. One man that was working there won 3. I ask you, what are the odds of that. Suspicious. The people that are running the event win most of the baskets. Hmmm. We have been there for many fun family outings, And have always enjoyed it.
Very nice historic site not very far from Town.
Fabulous tour and make sure you stop next door and see the excellent fiber, weaving, and ladies so talented in their crafts...gift shop a must visit
