You will have a good time here. The classes and workshops are full of fun, funny people.
Ive recently started taking some acting classes, and Sea Tea was recommended as a good place to learn improv. I took the 4-week Intro to Improv course to get my feet wet and see how I like it (especially since its about a 1:10 drive from my house), and I can say it was a lot of fun! Unfortunately I missed the last class due to work obligations, but Ill likely be back for more. Also, taking any of their classes (or at least, the one I took, which is the most basic one) allows you to get in to most of their shows for free (its part of the learning experience). And I liked how each class also had a guest instructor, so you got to experience different viewpoints too.
Protip: Sea Tea Improvs Studios are different than their Theatre. Be aware that you might be looking for the other venue. Improv classes take place in a building above the first floor, while performances are at the theatre below the first floor at different addressesThis place is an awesome resource for a centrally located city, also the Connecticut capital, in Hartford.Easily accessible from eastern highways bearing west, youll find yourself near a parking lot with plenty of parking across near the studios. The Studios offer a mix of traditional classes and workshops to get involved, and the prices are affordable. You should definitely consider taking a class here, its worth every moment!
If you pure fun in a real theater this is your place. The staff is very welcoming and helpful. The crowd is a mixed bag theater enthusiasts young old and in between. Take a date and let the good times roll.
I attended a show recently to watch a friend perform and had a great time. The venue is comfortable and intimate. They have a concession stand in the back for snacks and drinks. The actors were energetic and seemed very excited about new upcoming shows.
Amazing experince!! Cant wait to do more classes :) best people and hopefully start of new friendsships
Great classes, weekly shows, and monthly jams/mixers!
I was delighted to find that Hartford had an improv theater, and even more delighted after going to several shows. I only recently discovered how much fun these shows are and continued to be amazed at how people can be so in sync with each other! Recently attended the Hartford Improv Festival and highly recommend it to anyone unsure of the improv concept.
Ive taken several improv classes here. Its a great place to learn about improv, and a lot of fun!
Great improv classes! Great value for your money!
Sea Tea Studios is a place where you can be yourself, have fun, and learn new skills at the same time. They teach improv comedy classes from beginner to expert levels. They teach sketch comedy writing at all levels. They have the three studio spaces available to rent for rehearsal space for only Lee $12/hr. They also have improv jams and weekly open rehearsals for people to get to play with all sorts of folks. They host work shops on different advanced and beginning level improv six for $35. Their classes are very reasonably priced, between $100 and $200 for most 4-8 week session courses. The studios are really nice and so are the people.
Improv is uneven by nature so dont expect to be wowed every time but it was great!!!
