The galleries show interesting, incitefull art which draws one in. It has vastly improved over time. Indie films are very good choices. The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is because theater seating is abysmal. One has to search around for a good one. The seats are beyond repairable. They need to be replaced. I know thats an expensive proposition for a small nonprofit. Perhaps one of the terrific supporters can find a way to earmark funds for this endeavor. Doesnt hurt to ask.

I attended a Connecticut poetry society event there, it was a great experience. I read a poem from my book titled just another hopefull fool in love, during the open mic, and had a great response. There were a number of great writers/poets in attendance. #justanotherhopefullfoolinlove

We often go to RAW for movies. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Arriving early for ticket? Thats great because of the good food & beverage selection, as well as fun, interesting, inspiring art exhibits to view.

We went to see the film about Maria Callas and everything about the experience was grand. The theater itself is very comfortable with wide roomy seats and a very good amount of legroom between rows. There isnt a bad seat in the house. Very friendly staff and a concession stand with beverages, food, candy and pop corn was a nice touch. Three art shows were going on too and it was nice to see local contemporary art. All in all, a very nice evening out. On the Monday we attended the show, the theater was not crowded at all. Strongly recommend this venue.

Now that I live in Parkville I cant wait to check out my local art scene. Ive always been a huge fan of Art. Also, I am an artist myself. Im hoping that maybe this could be a resource into getting more acclimated with the art community. Kind of unrelated but not really... Has anybody seen a giant dried gourd at real art ways? It should have a sky painted on it That Fades from day to night. I painted it when I was in Middle School. My art teacher at the time said she works closely with real art ways and she would love to display it. When I asked for it back at the end of the school year, she said she couldnt get it back from real art ways. I believe she was lying lol but if anyone has seen it there I would like to get it back.

A really nice change of pace for me. I used to frequent many clubs, bars and popular spots in and around Hartford and loved the diverse, energetic and exciting environments. However in the last 3 years so much has changed and I found myself people watching and also watching my watch to see if it was an appropriate time to leave...it just wasnt fun anymore. RAW aka Real Art Ways is a blast everytime! A limited but still adequate beer and wine selection with cocktails also available. Great conversation starters at every turn and Ive just started going! I enjoy movies I would never think of watching a few months ago...I am so happy I joined and look forward to making the best of my membership!

Ive lived in the Greater Hartford Area for 6 years, but didnt know this place existed until a couple weeks ago. This area is improving with time as more and more restaurants and bars open up in the area. Real Art Ways hosts trendy art expos and local movie screenings. Establishments like this could go a long way in rejuvenating the neighborhood.

This theater shows excellent movies, often foreign movies, that are not shown in regular theaters because they are too intellectual for the enjoyment of the general public! A very refreshing experience. And their sound system is the only one that enable people with some hearing problems to understand the sound track but best is that most movies are sub-titled.

A great alternative arts center with cinema nestled in a former typewriter R&D center (really!) in the Parkville neighborhood of Hartford. A bit off the beaten track but worth the few extra turns youll need to make. The galleries are always interesting and the cinema offerings are top notch. Films youd normally only find in much larger cities.
