I would never go back here. We went with our 2 kids (just under 10) and from the second we walked it, it wasn’t a great first experience. We were greeted and told the ceramic selection was on the wall if we wanted to paint. Prices of the items were not posted, so we picked out 4 of the smallest items to paint. We had to ask where we could get the paint, and were given no direction on how we needed to paint them or how many coats to get a good looking piece. One of the employees took a call on speaker phone with a repair guy the entire time we were there, and you could hear every word that was said through the whole place - very unprofessional. The employees just stood around the whole time, never came to check on us or to ask if we needed fresh water for our paint brushes. When we finished, we had to ask what to do and where to put our painted items, something that should have been discussed upon us starting. Then we checked out to find a total of over $100, just shocked at the cost especially since there was no disclosure of prices anywhere. Finally, after calling to confirm that our items were done 1 week later as they stated, we checked the hours online to find the location was open 12-5 each day. We arrived at 4:30 and it was already closed.Overall, I really hope this review is taken seriously to make some changes in your customer service and price transparency in the Hartford location.
This place is the best. So fun and super friendly staff. Great pricing, great environment. Also very clean. I would highly recommend.
Amazing experience during my first time visiting this studio yesterday! Had a small group (all adults) pottery painting day for a birthday and it was great. Employees were very helpful in explaining everything, as well as helping with various techniques and tips. Everyone was super friendly. What a wonderful environment! Will definitely be coming back! :)
I recently moved to Hartford and had my eye on this place since I moved here. Finally got to go and was very happy I did! They have tons of options on the main floor and also have a great clearance section that’s 25% off. Everyone was very friendly and helpful in explaining what was what and how to do things. I did a ceramic mug which I got about a week later. It turned out gorgeous! I didn’t need to put my name on it thankfully because it would have took away from the piece in my book. Definitely would recommend and going back!
I have been here twice. Once with my six year old daughter and once with a friend. Both times the staff were very helpful and friendly. They give you suggestions and help if you want it and space if thats what you prefer. Super cute place.
Each experience at Creative License has been amazing. All of the staff I have worked with are incredibly caring and friendly. Including the owner herself! There are so many of these places popping up right now for the do-it-yourself/guided arts and crafts, and Angela has helped make Creative License one of the most comfortable and welcoming studios Ive been to! Definitely recommend if youre feeling crafty but arent quite sure how to express it - so many beautiful options from painting to pottery!
Creative License is awesome. We took our children out to do some art. Since we were there my wife and I figured why not do art too? Turns out it’s a lot of fun to snip away at colorful glass then have it fused into unique bowls, dishes or just beautiful things to look at. Painting ceramics is fun and makes for great gifts for moms and dads. Who doesn’t love an oversized coffee mug with their child’s unique in the world art? We have some incredibly cool clay pieces that the kids shaped by hand then painted and that Creative License fired including an insanely cool frog and a miniature bird feeder complete with miniature birds. The children love to paint and the acrylic paint dries fast enough that you can paint then take it home and hang on the wall. Their people help when needed or simply let you create. A lot of fun for the whole family. Highly recommend.
I had a great experience here. My kids and I all enjoyed ourselves. The staff was friendly and helpful. I highly recommend going if you havent already been there.
Everyone was super friendly and I felt very welcome. I had trouble with my project and they were more than willing to help me and my friend and you could tell she knew what she was doing. I would suggest this place to anyone looking for a fun afternoon with the girls!
This place is amazing! They took the time to work with my 7 year old niece who was getting frustrated with her project and after she told me she had so much fun! I really love this place! Such a fun activity for people of all ages and skill levels in art!
Was a great experience! Patient and helpful at the pottery wheel. Excellent atmosphere and many options to just sit back and create!
Absolutely love this place and the staff always is so helpful with great ideas. I would highly recommend!
My daughter & I went there the other day and had a blast! I did a coffee mug and my daughter did a fused glass piece. Julie & Debi were so helpful, patient and knowledgeable!
We love coming here! Lots of pieces waiting for your artistic talents. Friendly staff and the owner is great to work with. I recommend a wheel lesson - lots of fun!!
Love working at Creative License and the team members are all amazing people who are very knowledgeable, supportive, friendly and super creative ️
Explore your creative side and enjoy a kids birthday party in a great place
I have done several projects here, all of which have been the paint your own pottery. There are other projects you can do their as well, but I am so drawn to the pottery! The projects turn out great and are excellent quality. I have brought several people with me throughout my visits and they enjoy going there as well - they bring friends and family in as well! I purchased gift certificates from them to give as Yule gifts and my mother cannot wait to use hers.My favorite project, by far, has been the 12 day old foot prints that we painted/stamped on tiles. The grandparents loved those as Yule gifts as well.
2 years ago, I brought my grandchildren who were visiting from Michigan to do a total of 7 pieces at Creative License. When I went to pick the pieces up the staff person dropped and broke one of them. They gave me the $18 refund but the item is irreplaceable and it is difficult to have the kids back long enough to even re-do the piece.10 days ago, I brought some of the grandchildren again. They did a total of 5 ceramic items. When I went to pick them up they lost one of the pieces. They offered the $20 refund but again it is irreplaceable not to mention it is the same kid that this happened to. They said they would keep looking but arent hopeful. The owner told me that we should have thought to put the name on the bottom. So blame the customer because they cant track their items through the production and distribution process.Thats a 14-20% loss rate on the work. Be aware of the risk if you choose to use them.I took the rest of the kids to a place near the zoo in Milwaukee called La Terraza. They were very accommodating. They had many more different pieces to choose from and managed to write the name of the kid on the bottom when we didnt think of it. They use the traditional kiln but also have acrylic paints available which means you can take the items with you that day. No risk of losing or dropping by staff. Just dont put the pieces in water. We will use La Terraza in the future. Its worth the drive to reduce the risk.
Went here for a corporate painting party, so the studio was open only to our group for the entire evening. There was enough room for 3-4 people at a table even with all the art supplies spread out.We had the option of painting pottery, canvas, or making fused glass. The employees were very knowledgeable about the art/techniques, especially the fused glass which I had never even heard of before. Everyone working with glass was guided through the process from start to finish and they all turned out amazing! Very fun evening seeing what everyone could create.Within a week, the pottery and fused glass was fired and finished (canvases go home the same day). For a corporate event, it really was fun and I recommend it to other Waukesha businesses (or families). If you have a private party, you can bring your own food and drinks too.I’ve been back twice to paint some mugs for my sister’s bridal shower. I wasn’t able to finish them all the first time, but the studio holds them until you have a chance to come back (no appointment needed!). Very accommodating, friendly staff, and great atmosphere for getting creative.
Went to paint as a family. Great atmosphere, friendly staff! Will definitely be going back again.
Such a wonderful place to bring the family! Its a great place to get creative and make memories!
I have made several pottery projects here with my little ones. The staff is so helpful and friendly with my toddlers! They have great ideas for projects and have always been very polite. If I have an idea they help me figure out if its possible and give me tips to make sure that each and every project is a success! The prices are good as well. Everything is kept neat and clean. I love coming here and making memories of multiple kinds with my family!
I bring my grandchildren here every time they come up to visit us for a week. They do a different project every time, The kids love it and I love watching them being creative. Angela is very helpful and friendly. The finished products are amazing. We are looking forward to our next visit in March some of the kids already have their next couple projects picked out.
I was blown away at how much my daughter loved coming here. We used Creative License for our Daddy Daughter date and it couldnt have been better. The night staff was so friendly and let my little girl pick everything out for her canvas painting. Highest level of recommendation!
Very nice sized studio with a lot of seating. We have visited a few times as just a family as well as a larger group of 8 people. We have never had an issue being seated right away. My kids (2 & 3.5) absolutely love creating projects and the new staff and owner are very helpful and kind. We will definitely be back again very soon.
My daughter and I came in over the holidays for some fun mommy-daughter time, and we had a blast. There were lots of options and it was easy to create with the help of the knowledgeable staff. Our final products turned out beautiful. We will definitely be back!!
My family and I love spending free time at Creative License!! My husband, my son that is 23 years old and legally blind, and myself enjoy being creative and learning techniques that allow our creativity to come out. The atmosphere is so calm, relaxing, and fun -- and Angela is so nice and always so very helpful!! Creative License is awesome!!!
Enjoyed playing here. Felt like I was back in elementary school. My project didnt turn out quite like I imagined it would, but overall am pleased with the experience. Now I know better what to do next time.
Ive created art twice now at Creative License and had a great experience both times. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the turnaround to get items fired is very fast. Love that the items rotate so often, there is always new stuff every time we go in!
Creative License is a great place to go and escape reality and create a project of your own. Great ideas and options, Great staff and helpful with ideas and methods. Love going there to try new things.Friendly, Helpful, Family Friendly Environment.
We had a great time. The employees set up everything for us and helped with whatever we needed. Fun place with lots of options in every price range.
Fun for both kids and adults, moderately priced creative experience, depending on what you choose to create, offer many options and a friendly, helpful staff..love taking my grandson to Creative License !!
Great place to take the kids and do some fun art projects
Prices were high but the painting was fun.
Went for my wifes birthday, we had a great time.
One of my new favorite places around Slinger. Tons of fun
So much fun with the kids! Friendly staff!
They need to learn how to use the kiln. They completely ruined my glass fusion project and then refused to refund my money. I was overcharged for the size project I selected from their pricing book and was never offered a credit. Completely unprofessional and NO customer service. The owner is so RUDE. I would never recommend this place. There are many other art studios to choose from where they care about the customer. Luckily my credit card company ruled in my favor when I filed a dispute.
A last minute idea...we had nieces and nephews visiting our kids, from out of town. As walk-ins, with no appointment, owner Jessica easily accommodated the 8 of us. New to the idea of painted pottery, Jessica sat down with us and discussed several ideas of how to create various pieces. We settled on a plate with handprints that were then decorated as little monsters - tough to describe, but the kids loved it. She helped us step by step and everyone had a great time.If you are struggling with ideas on how to get started, she has several books with examples and ideas which helps get the creativity flowing.Items to decorate were fairly priced which included the item, cost of paints and the glazing. Items take a week or two to be finished/glazed, however this is typical of most stores of this nature. If you are in Hartford and are looking for a fun activity, be sure to stop in.
A fun place to bring children.
Plenty of selection, pleasant experience, something for everyone.
We did a private party through work, needed somewhere that would be a quick drive from the Menomonee Falls/Mequon area that could accommodate a group of 20. Had a good time painting pottery, would recommend it again. We went with a group of adults - it seems like it would make a good kids birthday party.
My kids ask to come visit every month to create something. It is hard to say no to them when the prices are reasonable and the staff is so friendly. We love story time!
Love taking the kids here. Such a great staff, super friendly!
Very professional, great prices, my pieces turned out amazing! Perfect for a girls night
They have a wide array of art projects: pottery, canvas, glass. They are super helpful and friendly.
Awesome service. Kind of pricey.
Pricers are kinda high. Other then that, I had a good time.
Fun place for the whole family!!
What a fun day.
Great place, great staff=Fabulous girl time!
Perfect Ceramic Shop. Very helpful staff.
Called looking for bulk clay, they dont carry any, asked if they could point me in the right direction and was told that as the business owner she didnt want to give out any info aboutwhere to find clay... found it odd that she wouldnt offer any info up to help find the product i needed, even though they dont carry, and didnt want to order in the product Im looking for? ! I wont go here for any of my potters needs after this encounter.
Really nice people and very helpful!
Love it, so much fun!
Love this place
Fun Art!
