Im only giving Eagle 4 stars because it could be smoother and it doesnt race anymore. But otherwise its a great wooden coaster. Great airtime, strong laterals, good pacing, and a ride with huge size and speed. It just needs some more maintenance and to race again.

Great roller coaster and arguably one of the icons at this Six Flags. Rides rough and bumpy due to its age but its still a blast. Highly recommend you ride on the last cart. When you go down the first hill, youll get a small second of freefall which is pretty cool.

Hello sfgam this ride either need to have new trains or close it then open a new GCI wooden coaster (it would be weird to have 3 RMC including other side in the same park) but it is iconic and pretty good just shaky which adds to the fun.

I dont think anyone would be sad if this was cleared for something better. There was airtime but it was very rough because its so old. It is time to clear this out! One of my least favorite rides but its not horrible so 2 stars. Nothing amazing about it other than its still operating.

Excellent wooden coaster!

Love the fact that it is still a tallest racing wooden roller coaster. Ride is a bit rough since its made of wood. The racing can be fun when both rides leave the station at the same time. Loved it when it used to go backwards.

This ride is good when it’s open but this ride is closed/ broken down 80% of the time it’s not worth your time waiting in line because even if the line is short it will still be an hour wait because the ride will be broken. I highly recommend NOT going on this ride!!!

The ride was amazing! It was very bumpy, but that’s expected because the ride is 38 years old. Soaring down at 66 miles an hour gave me a chill down my spine, and it’s the fastest roller coaster I’ve rode to this day. When I first rode it (when I was 10) I had to go to the bathroom while I got on. And surprisingly I didn’t wet myself! This ride is the second best ride in the park, the only one I liked more was Viper.

Have been to the park multiple times this year. The eagle never had both the red and blue Trains running together. This is a one of a kind wooden racing coaster but it didn’t have any trains racing. I understand they want to save $$$ but when there is a 45 minute wait both trains should be running .

This coaster has long outlived its usefulness. Its rickety, very loud and often only has one train operating, taking the only potential appeal, a short wait, away. If they get rid of this ride I will not be upset in the slightest.

An American Coaster Classic. Red side offers a more thrilling ride in my opinion. A little more air on some bunny hills

Not only is this ride rough but the Q Line is ridiculous long! It takes so long to get to the station. I think a nice RMC treatment would be nice or replace the entire ride with a better coaster.

Oh my god, this ride is amazing for anyone! Sure, when you go up the coaster, it seems scary but once that drops arrived. You know you love it!

Great old school wooden roller coaster

The wait isnt even close to long, It is even faster when both trains are running. Its an amazing family ride to. One of my favorites. Nothing like a classic wooden coaster. Basically you can get back in line and expect to get on in 1-2 minutes or even sooner. Especially quick at night.

I love this ride! It is my favorite in the whole world. It is a classic wooden rollercoaster with an out and back design. The small bunny hills after the first drop offer some great airtime. When both trains are running the line is very short and it is easy to marathon this ride. The red side is less rough than the blue so make sure to ride on the left. Night rides are even better.

Really not sure why other reviewers call this ride smooth. American Eagle (both tracks) were super smooth when the ride opened in 1981 and through the 80s but I went today (June 15, 2017) and had my memories nearly knocked out of my skull by the rough ride. The south track was closed, we rode the north track. It was so jarring, I got a headache. So, it was great, now it isnt. Which is pretty much how I feel about Great America in general.

The American eagle is by far my favorite ride! I was my first ride and I am not much of a roller coaster person but this ride is amazing! when you go down the drop it gets your adrenaline going.its a very good family ride as well! I could go on this ride over and over! you should check it out!

A classic out and back racing wooden coaster, with wonderful old school air time. Though some parts can be harsh, the coaster looks great.

Its a decent coaster, but not worth a wait. Its got size and speed, but the hills dont throw you out of your seat, and it is on the shaky side.

This is, in my opinion, the scariest ride in the park. Being a classic wooden rollercoaster, the American Eagle is VERY shaky and feels like its going to fall apart on the track. While some rides frighten with their speed or height, the Eagle makes you feel like you may very well die. That being said, it is quite safe and the shaking only adds to the thrill. The coaster has two separate tracks on which trains race. When operational this is a nice addition to the ride, however it is common for only one track to be open.

Its been over 25 years since Ive been there but I still rave about the ride to this day!!! Its the longest all wooden railroad-style roller coaster. It was one heck of a BUMPY ride!!! I LOVED it!
