Really nice hike. Moderately challenging. The scenery is beautiful. We saw two big horn rams.
Great trail system and free access to the Colorado National Monument Trails. I usually go up Wedding Canyon (right) which is steeper, unimproved, and more often shady and then down Monument Canyon (left) which is mostly slick rock and crushed gravel trail as its easier on my knees and I can go faster. Monument Canyon especially can get a bit busy on the beautiful days in the Spring and Fall but its worth it. You can also take this trail system all the way up to Rimrock Drive if you want a longer hike with a steep finale.
Beautiful hike. Someone suggested going around clockwise and it was perfect. Great shading.
Recommend to do the loop.... up Monument Canyon to Independence Monument, then back down Wedding Canyon. 5 miles of blissful wilderness.
We started at the lower and think that was the way to do the loop. We did do the unimproved loop on the way back and it was fairly steep downhill.
Just prepare lots of water and continuous incline but the payoff is absolutely worth it.
Start of a good hike into Monument Canyon. If you are just interested in a day hike this one bypasses the toll booth.
GORGEOUS!! My new favorite trail on the Monument.
Love this beautiful hike any time of year. Saw bighorn sheep this morning.
Beautiful views and so many trails. Marked well
Very interesting conversation with a stranger, followed by ...... a good time!!!
Beautiful area to hike and enjoy with the family. Lots of places to take amazing photos...bring plenty of water and a sense of adventure!
Fantastic
One of the great trails of this area
Absolutely awesome. Great views. Big thanks to Ranger who recommended it!
Excellent easy hike to Independence Monument.
Awesome place for a day hike!
All the scenery you can eat, but theyre not dog friendly! Dogs not allowed on all the trails we saw.
Sufficient parking and well marked trail. One of best hikes Ive had in the U.S.
One of the best trails in this place. Dont forget photo camera.
Great HIke 7 miles one way to the rim or round trip. We did it with ages 38 to 75 in 3.5 hours to the rim on Christmas day. Once you up in the valley below the monuments the trail is almost flat until you get to the head wall.
Maintained. Bring lots of water. No practical shade.
Great local hike to a world class landmark.
