First visit was great. Trails are nice but i wish people had not decided to carve theor names in the trees and the trail signs are quite faded. The playground us nice. Bathrooms were locked for winter already.
Ill be posting regarding the trail system, the park does seem lovely though. The entrance is one way and google maps brings you to the exit instead of the entrance, having not been there before it seems I parked in an overflow lot or a lot to access the bike path. This wasnt a big deal, it was just a bit of a walk to find the trail head. There is a bathroom building, trash cans and ample paved parking and benches along the trails. I am disappointed at the amount of tree graffiti there is in the old beech but I suppose thats just how people do now a days. The trail itself is nice, there is a complex system of loops that feel natural to navigate for most experience and stamina levels. You can choose to walk as much or as little as you want and everyone I passed was friendly. I never really felt lost but the trail markers were a bit faded. There is a trash can before you enter the trail (I didnt enter at the trail head, I entered near the pavillion.) The trails are mostly dolomite and flat with minimal inclines. Some of the rustic trails have root hazards and are narrower but the main loops have ample space for passing. I was sad the preserve connection boardwalk was washed out, that swamp is beautiful. The trails themselves are moderately trafficked and some back up to houses but thats no big deal. There is foot traffic, bike traffic and dog traffic. I took a photo of the main map because I did get turned around twice, there are a handful of private paths that lead to peoples houses and they got me a bit flipped. There are old beech and hemlock trees, a white pine forest, some young growth with sassafras and maple and large oaks.I will say, the gun range was good as a directional for me but also made me anxious after two hours of it, (as someone who is noise reactive), it did help me find my way out though.
Park amenities such as soccer and baseball fields are great but map directions are terrible. Just Google Hofma Park and access off Ferris. Dont even bother using Google maps or any other mapping app as the direction will have you driving around in circles.
What a great place with its bicycle trail head, baseball field, soccer field, hiking trails and more. Beautiful views of the fall colors.
Hofma Park is a great place to get out into the woods while still being pretty close to town. We take our dog out there every day, and everyone is super friendly. Most people with dogs let them run off the leash, but they are all very considerate and careful to make sure their dogs are well behaved and under control. Hofma has some great trails for walking, biking, and even pushing a stroller. The scenery varies enough to keep it interesting, and each season brings something new and beautiful! I love Hofma, and it is one of the first places I bring out of town friends when they visit. I would recommend this park to anyone looking to get out for some fresh air or even just as a place to stop and stretch their legs during a road trip.
Hofmann has a nice little playground for the kids and great walking/hiking trails that are well marked. My kids and I visit often.
This is a beautiful nature preserve. However, they have closed several trails recently, making foot traffic heavier on the existing trails and increasing the odds you will be sharing your walk with many others.
Well maintained trails, very scenic. Doggo loved it
It’s a great place to go and take a nice long walk. Trails are well taken care of. The only downside is that the majority of these trails are only accessible at the park itself, the bridge connecting it to the nature preserve was washed out earlier this winter and hasn’t been repaired.
Enjoyed the walk. Great place for a walk. Unfortunately the bridge is out. First time this year at Hofma Pk.
Well kept, quiet, beautiful location. Sat on bleachers and ate dinner with my parents!
Nice clean park beautiful soccer field.
I absolutely love it here. It’s a fantastic place to walk your dog with or without leash. Everyone is also very nice and friendly.
Hofma is my go-to walking/hiking/photography/hammocking location. Being super local for me personally. As well as super unique with the floating bridge, floating observatorie, and now the addition of an old evergreen green tree farm. Its unlike any other park Grand Haven Township has to offer. They also have just added a beautiful scenic bike path from the main road through the outskirts of the tree farm section of the park thats awesome for a quick bike or longboard ride. Great area for birding and mushroom foraging as well. For its size, location and mostly marked trail system. The tree farm is totally unmarked and more free roam which is perfect for hammocks. Ill be honest. This nature oasis is hard to beat.
Beautiful park, well maintained, and plenty of views on foot and bike. Hope they fix the path across the water soon.
Great park live riding the trails on my gravel bike.
Love the layout of the park with lots of trails to walk, and a play ground for kids and all sorts of fields to play different sports. Even a outdoor basketball court is present.
One of the best parks to hike in the area
I heard there was some water logging to the trail recently which makes me sad because I love Hofma. There is a downside that you can always hear cars, even at its most serene, but I like the wetlands a lot. Its a pretty view, regardless of the minor noise issue (you can barely hear it, promise).
Love this place Very well sign-posted. Nice 2.5 mile loop. Nice park with baseball fields nearby. Could easily get lost but for the signage! Included trail numbers and maps and most junctions.
Rock hunting is fun at Hofma Park!
This park has grown over the years and recently added a bike path down to the main road. One of my favorite features is the floating walkway across to the other side of the park. This will allow you to travel through the preserve and can amount to quite a hike if you want. Come by during the summer evening and you’ll catch a sky full of fire flies down by the river. I highly recommend you visit this park
The park is set to be larger this year, as a large plot of adjacent land that was previously a Christmas tree farm has been donated. There are miles of well maintained and marked trails. There is also a large floating bridge section hat crosses a wide marsh connected to the grand river.
Large park with lots to do, if you like walking this is the place to go
Great place to be in nature. Trails are hard and level. Great for mountain biking merit badge for Boy Scouts.
The trails are nice to walk and the views on the board walk are beautiful.
Naturally beautiful
Google Navigation will take you into the neighborhood just east of the park. There is no entrance there. You have to enter via Ferris Street(the main road) there is a small single lane, one-way entrance that is very easy to miss. Be careful not to go in the one-way exit. The actual park is very nice
Great hiking
Beautiful wooded paths. Dogs off leash permitted
Great local trails for walking with the kids and dogs. Fun to pass through on the bike in the summer!
Beautiful. Great place to hike.
Well groomed trails. Not difficult. Quiet.
It has great trails and the paths are nicely kept

Amazing wildlife area with trails combined with multiple playgrounds, and sports fields and courts.
So beautiful! Great trails
It is so peaceful. I love it.
Listen to the wind through the trees, it speaks in volumes. Beautiful park; calming.
Hofma Park is really an ideal location for kids families get-togethers and people with pets. Theres a very nice Pavilion that I believe is free to use without having to rent it. There are nice walking trails a bike path playground all around a great place for a day out with nature.
Very nice park
Amazing wooded setting with extensive trails!
Soccer game was nice park
Peaceful place. We are fortune to have so many unique Parnks in Ottawa County in the State of Michigan....
Its a short walk from my house. I was born and raised here. I usually go stumping for mushrooms in the fall and morals in the spring. We see a lot of birds and animals in our walks.
Very beautiful park. Great for families and kids.
Get there about an hour before sunset to see the sun at the tip of the trees showcasing the true beauty of this wetland area
This park is pretty well maintained and the trails are nicely marked.
Love all the trails, floating bridge, and playgrounds. Good spot for beginning bird watchers.
Its a woodsy park.
Need better signs for entrance off of Ferris. Causing accidents.
Great place for a scenic walk.
Trails to hike playground for kids and also a soccer field and baseball field. Along with picnic areas for grilling
Park was well maintained but the bathroom needs doors on the stalls.
Great place to hike, picnic or just hang out.
