A great park and hiking area with multiple trails. The trails follow the coastline cliffs and connect down to the beach or wind through the Butterfly Grove with lush flora and trees. A great place to visit if in Goleta or near Santa Barbara and there were a few butterflies in the Grove in the early September heat. The views from the open coastline trails are also great on a clear day.

A very spacious and open grass field that leads to the cliffs by the beach. You can also go down to the beach from the cliffs. Great view and nice area to walk around and get some fresh air.

While this spot is beautiful, I was so sadden to see the beach covered with globs of tar, no doubt from the oil refinery just off shore. The smell of the tar was awful but the fact that my dogs paws were covered in the stuff is probably the worst part. So sad to see an absolutely beautiful beach ruined by humans..

This places is SICKENING. Shame on you Santa Barbara county. You get to the beach and see black flecks (tar) EVERYWHERE.H can you call it a preservation area and continue to allow drilling??

I suppose I hiked into this from where I started! I cant even tell where the two parks divide. I was in the butterfly Grove next door. Since I didnt know I was in the county Park its hard to leave a review. I can only say it was worth it.

Also known as Ellwood Mesa, a lovely mesa thats away from everything with blue-water views to the Channel Islands. Theres little shade cover and I was visiting on a 90º day, so be prepared with water, a hat and sunscreen. Youre high above the shoreline and the cliffs are hazardous at spots – no sleepwalking!Bring your mountain bike to enjoy the many flat, rutted trails that crisscross the mesa.
