Beautiful view of Bear Lake across a wide expanse of lawn. This time of year there are many geese and even a few deer. Older complex, but still nice. Hot tub was working an nice to sit in and look up at the stars.

This was our first time staying at Ideal Beach. The condo we rented was really well kept and had everything we needed. There is a large grass commons area where we played yard games. The beach was nice but i do feel for the price of the condos and for the price of rentals, they could improve the beach by raking it or cleaning up debris. Overall our stay was good and the pools were fun because the lake was on the cold side. We will be going back next year

Great condos and wonderful location! Lots is grassy area to play with family members or lay in the sun, and a great long beach to accommodate all the resort’s visitors. Additionally, they have 2 pools. The beach is very rocky, so I suggest water sandals when swimming. Aside from the rocky beach and bruises/cuts that come along with it, super pleasant time and resort!

I love ideal beach resort usually and that is why I am giving it a 5 star review. But this year I was really disappointed that they turned the pool down so low my kids could not comfortably swim while we were there. I hope next year they keep it warmed for longer. We usually visit in late September but this time we visited the first week of October and the pool was just too cold!

A great place for a family vacation! Easy access to the lake, lots of green space, and a good pool. Limited or no Wi-Fi but plenty of other activities!

It was a really nice location, and the store and bathrooms were convenient as well. It was pretty crowded by 10 AM, so getting there early is a good idea.The only thing is that the beach is extremely rocky and hard on the feet. If the beach had been better, this would have been perfect. Instead I think well go out to the north beach next time.

I love this place. I have been coming here since I was 4. It is a tradition I have loved carrying on to my family! Life is truly about family and finding special traditions to do with them.

Great place for kids, friendly staff. The rooms are like your grandmothers house and decor from about 1985. We had issues with things not working, but staff fixed most. There is wifi only in common area, website is misleading. You are paying for direct access to the beach, a great pool, and a huge playground.

Edit: I drove North of this area and saw that the other options for public access are terrible for a few miles. If you are at bear lake, the ideal beach resort really is the best option.Original review below.This beach is not ideal. The beach is mostly gravel, shells, and coarse sand. Maybe its as good as it gets at bear lake, though.

Had an absolutely fantastic time. Our place was super clean and surprisingly spacious. Even with COVID policies in effect it was almost like any other trip.Only two complaints; 1. I would say, the bathrooms connected to the pool are not very clean. Especially, the mens bathroom. 2. The internet is not good but that was kind of expected.Local activities are awesome, like diving, biking (nearby paved trail that follows the road into town), boating, etc.

It was a nice place for our first trip to Bear Lake. The unit we rented smelled strongly of fish, a smell which didnt fade during our four nights. There were loud sounds from upstairs and a subpar pool situation. Go early to set up if you want a waterfront beach set up. But well maintained grounds, well equipped kitchen and lots of great amenities for kids and easy water sports rentals. Wouldnt go there without kids.

Been coming here for years. Couple of pools, mini golf, ice cream store and we live the huge amount of open grass to play games that overlooks the lake. We also love the quick beach access. The state marina is 5 miles away for quick on off access for boating.

We had a wonderful few days here!! The website explained that there might be delays with check in due to low staff due to the covid issues, so we were prepared for that. They were clear that some amenities may be closed as well. No surprises. We are a family of 7, 5 young kids just looking for a fun weekend! Our room was perfect- comfy beds, clean, with dishes for our dinner and a fridge/freezer for our cooler goods. We ordered pizza from a local place and enjoyed the free pancakes in the morning! The no pets, alcohol or smoking on the beach rule was our favorite. Made the environment pleasant for all involved. The clean sand was very appreciated! My kids spent hours playing in the sand and finding shell treasures. The large playground and free activities were a great addition to the abundant beach fun. We rented water craft from the onsite rental company, had chips and salsa from the beach restaurant and just had a lovely time! Thank you for providing such a safe and relaxing environment for our large family. We’ve been to other resorts where our large family gets “looks” or eye rolls when trying to accommodate us and everyone here was just pleasant and kind and accommodating.

It’s very family friendly. Great beach a little bit of trash but great rooms. The icecream and mini golf passes are a little over priced but very fun. During COVID pool rules are set in with wrist bands but some didn’t wear them and some of the employees didn’t care if they ware them and they just said that they didn’t need to see them they just said they didn’t ware them even though there wasn’t enough wrist bands for that time for their whole family so they didn’t have wrist bands. Other than that teen employees but still very good come every year.

They have great entertainment, nice big grass area for kids, nice park, nice beachHowever.. i stayed last year and this year and the rooms are trash. Beds ripped, felt nothing but springs, no TV, fridge didnt get cold, microwave no power, stove older then I am only 1 burner worked at a time, furniture was wore out, no AC,. and much more. Needs to be updated bad

Our unit was dirty and gross. You could right your name in the dust on the bathroom shelf. Every night around 6pm we had a strong smell of sewer. Also charge extra to change out towels.

I was highly disappointed in ideal beach this year. We’ve been coming here for 20 years for family reunions and this year thought we would be safe during the covid-19 pandemic because they said they would put specific policies in place to keep people safe. Pool schedule and limiting numbers, employees wearing masks, etc.however, they did NONE of that. I was pretty sad because I felt unsafe (I’m in chemo and called ahead to see the safety precautions and thought I would be okay but it wasn’t safe because they weren’t following through).Disappointed in how they did not live up to their word about keeping guests safe during this time.

Discontinue your misleading sales tactic - The online booking tool allowed us to submit a booking along with agreeing to a rental contract. Subsequent to signing the contract we rearranged our schedule and commitments to enable renting for the allotted time period. After rearranging everything Ideal Beach contacted us indicating they would need to break the signed contract. No compensation was given for the harm caused to us. To the point - it was an obvious attempt to up-sell a service for which there was no benefit to us (ie: requiring the purchase of an additional night after we had contracted a 3 night allotment). The online tool should have never allowed us to enter into an agreement if Ideal Beach could not actually honor the terms being agreed to.

The teenage workers in the gift store were awfullll. They were playing nose goes of who had to help us. When we asked them a question they wouldn’t even look at us and we had to ask if they were even listening to us. All four of them were really rude and not happy to help us. Two boys and two girls. I hope their manager gives them a talk.

Brainless, inconsiderate, incompetent.This resort is staffed by kids who do not know how to interact with customers nor problem solve. Clueless front desk girl (blonde, curly hair) is the non-thinking per our policy type, after hours assistance line is never answered and no voice mail box set up, simple issues like a broken room fans are treated as an inconvenience and guests are told to come pick one up somewhere, broken air conditioning, etc. The list truly goes on and on. In a world where there are so many options, there is truly no reason to stay here. This was a childhood spot full of memories, but its gone very much downhill. Rooms are dated and rundown, staff is rude and dumb, and value is not there when compared to nearby airbnbs. Two stars for beach access only.

Bear Lake is already great. Ideal Beach just makes it that much more amazing. I would stay there for a vacation every summer.

This beach was clean and the pool was so fun with the slide.

Decent condos and there are so many fun activities including pool, ice cream, hot tub, chess, and mini golf.

We stayed at an Airbnb that has a pass to this resort. Access was easy, there is a grassy area to hangout off the beach if you want, the parking is ample.

I LOVE this place! It has everything for the perfect vacation. Golf, kids activities, smores, swimming in the summer, and hot chocolate and hot tubs in the winter. The resort has a little shop with clothes and food. Theres a beautiful lake that you can canoe and paddle board on, and you can rent wave runners, life jackets, and a trampoline in the water!

Beach access is great, but room has no wifi and no AC. Can hear everything in the neighbors rooms too.

Fun place for the family... sadly didnt see a lake monster although one of the other hairy visitors may have been bigfoot

I’ve never left a one star review before but this place was a big yikes to say the least. The room was advertised as 2 bed but it was a one bed and a pullout couch. The room literally looked like a motel 6 and the gift shop was disappointing. Won’t be recommending this place to anyone. There was also a bird in the stairwell, it’s a carpeted stairwell too. Gross.

This place is amazing! They have made the beach so much fun with kids. The park on the beach is an amazing idea. The swimming pool was really nice. We really enjoyed our time here. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay at bear lake.

Fun family place. Some of the lodging areas would benefit from improvements but that is up to each individual owner. I really hate carpets in bathrooms. Great beach and nice grassy area to play volleyball, soccer, or frisbee.

We went the very last day of the season and it was so much fun. It was a little cold to swim in the lake but the staff made our stay fun with bikes and games. It was a very nice place to stay.

Nice place to stay if you are planning a trip to Bear Lake Utah. Built in the seventies but updated and comfortable accommodations.

First time at Bear Lake for a Family Reunion with 44 people over the week of the 24th of July (state holiday). Sometimes we felt like we were the only people there because of all the space! Loved the grassy area where we set up a table and camp chairs for our evening meals and activities together. Lots for all age groups to do. Very safe and clean. Most of us wore water shoes as the beach isnt soft sand but still fun for kids to build sand castles. Only drawback was the rooms were not air conditioned so the first night some folks were very hot. They bought fans the next day and things were better! No bugs. We set our canopy up at around 7:00 each morning - plenty of space on the beach for everyone. Some folks didnt follow the policy of taking down their canopy structures at the end of the day:( We loved our much anticipated week - great time, happy memories! And the kids LOVED hunting for the ice cream rocks! Thanks!

My family has a condo here and we come up most years, even if it is just for a day. The resort is well cared for, parking is reasonable, even when it is full to capacity. Multiple pools and hot tubs. The beach is clean and the playground is decent. The local store hides rocks every day throughout the resort, creating a fun game for the kids to hunt for one every day to earn a free ice cream cone!

This was my first time at ideal beach. I loved it. We rented a condo and had some friends with us. Each condo will be different but the facilities were great.Be careful in the pool, kids get crazy on the slide and since there is no lifeguard...

Stayed here for Easter 2018. The resort is right on the beach, and they have all kinds of things to do here from frisby golf to power boats. They also had an Easter egg hunt for the kids. Our condo was a little old, but maintained. April was a bit chilly, but this place would be great in the summer.

This resort is a fantastic place for a short vacation getaway. Having such close beach access is phenomenal and the grounds are quite well maintained and have aged well. There are two swimming pools, a playground, a small store, and plenty of grass space for playing games. Everything about this resort is fantastic... except the condo we stayed in.Our unit was a deluxe unit, but was severely in need of repair and was not upgraded the way other deluxe units have been upgraded. In one corner of the ceiling, the paint was bubbling away. In another section, the wallpaper was partially torn away. Above the sink, open wires were sitting, exposed. The decor was bizarre and everything seemed like it needed a fresh coat of paint.

Nice beach, plus they have 2 pools and a hot tub. There is also a huge play ground on the beach and a convenience store. This resort has everything that you might need to spend a fun weekend at the lake.

This resort is my second home and my getaway. It was named Ideal Beach for good reason by the pioneers in the 1800s. And Bear Lake, well, its just gorgeous, and peaceful.The resort itself is well stocked with two swimming pools, (and the lake, folks), various watercraft, even bicycles built for two. And bring your favorite lawn games for the large stretches of soft grass between the condos and the lake.The lake, well the two prettiest in the USA are Lake Tahoe for its beautiful deep dark blue. And Bear Lake for its mid-day AQUA that almost glows.Im obviously not biased but Ive shared with true intent, willing to share but praying it doesnt get too crowded.

It has so much to do you never get bored.

Fun place for a family reunion, but the rooms are typically pretty hot- even the ones with air conditioning. It’s very close to a lot of places to eat and you can rent jet skis and other water toys. There are plenty of amenities such as a swing set and mini golf. The beach itself isn’t the best.

Ideal beach has just had a bunch of remodeling done. Now our old time share is updated and well furnished. Im so happy I have a modern timeshare to continue visiting with my family.

Fun place to stay with the family. The grounds are maintained nicely and the staff is great. The kids love the playground, mini golf course and ice cream shop. The teenagers and younger kids all love it because there are fun things to do for everyone.

It was nice. There arent many boats in the water cause its a private beach resort, and it feels more private than other places. The condos are a little outdated but very cute. I loved it.

Lots of things to do. Great playground for the kids. And at mini golf Teddy made the experience more fun for us and our kids for being accommodating and helpful.

I loved staying at the ideal beach resort. Just like their motto, they definitely made sure you went outside to enjoy the beautiful lake. Huge playground for children, hammocks, a mini golf course that on nights would be lit up with strobe lights and less, beautiful lake view. Even some axe throwing and horseshoe pits. I loved the grass and the bench in front of these wood carved bears. I would go again next time Im in garden city.

Or family had a lot of fun staying here. It was nice to be right on the beach and still have the option to go to the pools, hot tubs, or sauna.

We had a great time staying here in the condos! Beautiful lakeside views and easy walking distance to the beach. It has a lot of activies also besides lake activites, like nighttime mini golf, 2 pools, a jacuzzi, ping pong tables, volleyball court, painting, and yoga to name a few.

We enjoy going here as a family. They always have fun activities. Easy access to the lake from your condo. Great club house with great employees. Be careful, if you choose the less expensive condos, youll get a condo that has never been remodeled and old, uncomfortable mattresses. Almost like a cheap motel.

There was no AC and no Wifi. Both were promised.

There was a lot stuff available. It was a lot of fun. We played tennis and enjoyed the beach and the swimming pools. I also checked out some of the crafts they have available and many of them are very cute and look really fun to do. We were only there for one day but Im very satisfied with the experience.

Came here every summer as a kid for family reunions. Such a beautiful spot nestled in the mountains on the Idaho/Utah border.

Great vacation spot for kids. Tons of water sports the beach is right off the back porch. There are also swimming pools, tennis courts and mini golf.

Wonderful location. Wonderful lawn and park with two sizable swimming pools. Rooms are highly variable depending on how the owners have cared for them and the amenities provided. We have worked with some owners who have been spectacular in their generosity and love coming back here every year.

Love this place but mostly because of time with family and it’s become a tradition. The WiFi they pretend to offer is very expensive, is slow and often doesn’t work at all. Most all amenities are very old and not upkept. I wish they’d do better to make this resort nice.They have done a good job with the park and pools.

We love ideal beach. It has been a part of our family summer vacations for over 30 years. The rooms are nice, nothing spectacular, but the amenities are fantastic. Of course you have prime access to the lake, but the large grassy areas, the pools, mini golf course, and other family oriented activities are what make this place great.

Having a condo so close to the beach was amazing and extremely easy for my family. That being said, the appliances were easily from the 70s and on our first day there we had another family given the keys to our apartment. We walked into our condo with a whole other family there wondering why we were there. The resort moved them to another condo. Other than that it was a fun weekend at Bear Lake!

I just had a pass to Ideal Beach to take advantage of the pool, hot tub, and lake access. We had a large group for a family reunion and we loved it! We rented a couple of paddle boards to enjoy on the lake but also were able to soak in the hot tub and play with the kids in the pool. We loved our time there.

Wonderful place for a family vacation. Little pricy, wish our room had a fan, and honestly the beds were not great but the facility is amazing.

I love visiting this place! There are plenty of facilities : tennis courts, play grounds, pools, hot tubs, etc... There are plenty of conveniences to make your stay comfortable (my favorite is the full kitchen complete with everything needed for basic cooking and eating other than the food itself). My only complaint is that the rooms are a little old. You can hear every time the floors creak and the water runs, regardless of which unit the sounds originated from. Otherwise it is a perfect destination!

Awesome place to catch some rays, if you have a friend with a timeshare. A little crowded, you might find some beaches a bit less crowded elsewhere.

Best place to stay when you want to go to bear lake! Always clean, and always something new going on

An utter failure. Horrible horrible horrible management, customer service, and horrible lack of cleanliness! After a 3 hour delay checking us in to the room (not exaggerated) we walk into our room and an instant smell of vomit! We walk around the room and we can see where the vomit was both on the floor and furniture. Gross! It was wiped up but obviously not thoroughly cleaned. Management came to look at the room and told us that all was well, that room had been cleaned and that was the best we were going to get. Disgusting! I couldn’t believe how condescending and rude they were about the situation. The staff at Ideal Beach are unprofessional, incompetent and incapable of providing a quality experience for paying guests. After telling them we would not stay in this gross room, they then tell us “you have two options, either stay or pack your bags WITHOUT a refund”! Unbelievable! Worst service we have ever experienced! They never apologized for any of the ridiculous mishaps in their management! I can’t believe they tried to put people in that room...completely unsanitary! Not only could I not stay because of the horrible smell that almost made me vomit, but being in direct contact with someone else’s bodily fluids is also going to make us sick and I’m sure this is against a health code.We are a family of 60 people that come to Bear Lake every year, we will never come back to Ideal Beach Resort. It is anything but ideal. This was in Building D room 430 if I was the owner of this unit I would want to know! You should look in to selling or finding a manager and staff who care to grow your business. They utterly failed.

We staid at a nearby cabin that had some passes to the resort. The beach and pool were awesome. There was plenty of room, we never felt crowded. We were also able to rent some paddle boards for half off. It was a very fun and successful day at the beach.

I LOVE BEING HERE! I have been coming here since I was eight. They are finishing up an outside eight renovation. It looks fresh and nice again.

Weve been coming here every year for the past 30 years. We love it! The beach is great. Theres so much to do the kids never get bored. We love the beach playground too. Great place for a family vacation

My family has a time share here and weve been visiting for years. Its been a very fun tradition and we have made a lot of good memories here as the kids have grown. There are tons of fun activities such as miniature golf, biking, swimming (both in the lake and at two swimming pools), playground, theres lots of lawn for the kids to run around on, they have had grills on the lawn to BBQ at. The beach is awesome. The view of the lake is great. I like to bring my metal detector and beach comb but mostly just find scrap and missing tent stakes. You can rent watercraft at the dock. The condo we stay at has been nicely remodeled to be more modern. It roomy, we currently have grandma here and my wifes brother and his family along with our two kids and it doesnt feel too crowded. I could go on and on but will just say Ideal Beach is awesome and would highly recommend.

Our stay is always great. I love that the kids always have plenty of activities like the mini golf, playground, 2 pool and hot tub locations, and of course the lake with trampolines, jet skis, everything. We love it. Our condos are always clean and theres room for a even large groups such as our family.

I would not waste your money here! For the past few years we have had nothing but problems with their units having dishwasher problems, AC not working, and not hot water. They are run down.

Hands down the best beach on Bear Lake, but is overcrowded in the summer. Units are privately owned so some have been renovated and are lovely, while others are in serious need of an update. Mini golf, pool, and tennis courts are basic, but good for family gatherings etc.

Excellent beach, fun pools. My family has been coming here every year since before I was born (32 years). Probably the highlight of my summers. Comfy condos, close to a lot of great hiking areas, and of course the lake is right outside your windows. Just remember to bring fans! Can get kinda warm in the summers.

My family has a timeshare here and has been a family tradition for well over 20 years. Always an enjoyable stay. We have the same two units each year, but other family has rented others, so Ive seen inside many different units. All are nice and cozy with full kitchens. No in suite laundry, but there is a coin-op laundry on site. The private beach is nice, and has a launch point for boats. There is park further up the beach. There are two pools, one is more for the kids, but each has a sauna and hot tub. There are tennis courts. We always love playing the mini golf each year. The main outdoor grass areas are enourmous, so you can set up volleyball, croquet, etc with plenty of room for everyone. There is a convenience store that has most anything you might forget, as well as treats, ice cream, etc. There are bikes and such you can rent. We have always enjoyed Ideal Beach and hope to for years to come!
