Enjoyed a pleasant walk around the park on a warm, sunny Sunday afternoon. Although the Nature Center was closed when we were there last, it is great when it is open. It duplicates an 1800s farmstead and offers tours. We just had a nice time at a safe and pretty place to walk.Go on the days where they have the living history days, and get to sample free maple syrup. See characters dressed up as well.
Nice quiet place with picnic tables and restrooms. Great for lunch!
We walked around for more than an hour and enjoyed the weather. The farm is still closed due to Covid.
Good place to have a walk and unwind, but only if the weather is great
The farm isnt much to write home about. Its just a few old buildings with some animals. There is no access to some of the buildings, such as the schoolhouse, which was a bummer. The trails themselves are alright. Some of the trail markers are faded, which can make it a bit hard to know where youre going. The trails are very Florida, though. There isnt much foliage, and sometimes, it feels like youre walking in a field. Its not my cup of tea, but some people may prefer it.
Beautiful trails, good for hiking and walking. Bring waters and some bug spray.
Beautiful trails that were fantastic to walk through and a very neat bird watching area that allowed us to get left than 10 feet away from tons of birds and field mice. Even though the trails are on the short side there is still lots of fun to be had.
Me and the wife went on 2/3/20 and the farm was alright but the pig looked like it needed attention and the calf was super loving but looked kind of rough like it had been rubbing its hand on the posts or something because it was missing hair in places. The worst though was the male sheep whos horns were starting to dig into the side of their faces and their ears looks really dirty, basically everything looked like it could have used some basic care like a smaller farm would. Animals needed much more attention.
We had a ton of fun at the Living History Farm in Morningside Nature Park. Our girls fed chickens, sheep, and pigs. They both had a blast feeding the sheep by hand. They do the feedings for the public on Wednesday afternoons and its free, but they accept donations of fruits and veggies listed on their website. We brought a couple apples, sweet potato, and carrots.
The farm is closed on Sundays and Monday, so today we just only could hiking and take a nice pics. The weather it was awesome.
Nice trails and facilities. Historic farm portion wasnt open during our trip but looks interesting. Ticks were terrible on the trails even with the grass being low.
Try to go during their living history exhibit!
Nice groomed hiking trails. I wish the living history farm was open more than once a month. We saw deer, Turkey, gopher tortoise, a hawk, plus numerous types of birds. The farm being closed so often is why I gave 4 stars and not 5.
Nice place to hiking and relax
Nice walking trails. Old farmhouse was closed due to Covid crisis so definitely want to go back to check it out.
Quiet and great place to pray
Really cool place to take a stroll.
Went to see the Living History Farm at Morningside this morning and enjoyed it. The first Saturday of every month they have live interpretive experiences where people are dressed in pioneer clothes and baking biscuits.
Well-kept trails, and a great outdoor experience. Beware of ticks! Theres a working farm and historical area, but I went on a weekend and it was closed at that time. Just off a roadway, but its like stepping back in time.
Very beautiful! Very nice staff, enjoyable, and easy to navigate.
Serene and beautiful place to meditate
Good secluded place
Cute place to take some time outside and explore nature.
Its a nice and relaxing place to sit if you want to kill time or have an pinic.
Beautiful nature park with easy hiking trails for families and lots of activities to do with kids.
Not much access to the sheep but the cows were cute. Moooo!
First Saturday of every month they have people working the farm the way it was back in the day. Pretty neat experience, worth taking your kids to it.
We love Morningside! Today we did the excellent Timucua Times program, so fun and informative. The staff does a great job. We love the Farm Living and First Saturday living history days too. Its a perennial favorite!
Great walk through time and old natural FL.
Incredible biodiversity and beautiful wildflowers here. A true gem
Outstanding nature park, living history farm and educational programming. Dedicated to preserving Floridas natural and cultural heritage, then sharing these treasures with the public
It is a great place to walk and check out the wildlife. I did see some of the wild horses that wander the area. The pluss for those that need it is that it is wheelchair accessible.
Watch out for chiggers!
Peaceful and mother nature as well as Gods creation.
A very nice and peaceful park. The living history farm is also good.
Morningside Nature Center is a great place to take your kids if they like animals and being outside. There are several trails through the woods for you to explore and dogs are welcome. The homestead has a full compliment of farm animals, a cabin with appointment kitchen, blacksmith shop, outhouse, and an old school house. They also have a couple of small festivals with guided tours, music and food.
A nice place to relax and think before making a big decision
Its an awesome park you can watch birds thru a blind while they eat. There living history farm with barnyard animals to pet and feed.
This place will forever be in my heart
Great place for a walk
Go and visit this kid friendly frontier day learning center. My family and I went on an off day with minimum staff but everyone was very friendly and helping. Penny the cow is always happy to have visitors.
This place is a childhood favorite. I still love it.
Nice free fun. The kids really enjoyed them selves... I recommend bringing a small bag of veggies or fruit to donate to the amimals.
Beautiful and peaceful trails.
Be careful around tick season, other places I never have issues but here I got two on my socks and could have picked up more if I didnt notice them early on. Otherwise very cool place, just protect yourself.
Its pretty neat. Worth the trip.
Very tasty biscuits and cane syrup for the frist Saturday every month activity.
Fall wildflowers in October are awesome.
Excellent nature center with hiking trails through long leaf pine forest with amazing array of wildflowers. Living history farm is great to visit, too.
Worthwhile experience, friendly staff with a wealth of knowledge on history of North Florida.
Great place to take your grandkids to learn about nature
Make sure you go the 1st Saturday of every month for the Living History Days! 1800s style and they bake the best homemade biscuits with home made cane syrup to pour on top!!
5 stars if not for the ticks
Wet from all rain but nice.
My son loves the Barnyard Buddies time there. So much fun feeding the animals and learning about them.
Great sandhill and flatwood ecosystems, and they have a historic farm you can walk through. Its very pretty.
Great place to clear your head bring bug spray
Nice area. Quiet and peaceful. Pigs, chicken, sheep and a cow. 1880s house and farm.
Nice plant sale. People where very friendly and gave some good advice.
Nice trails for running, although some parts flood after a heavy rain.
Staff is really nice and the place is really safe to go walk
Great trip. Everyone had an amazing time!
Very peaceful
Loved it! It does need a couple more benches to rest.
Visiting the park made me feel like I was miles away from the noises of the city; atmosphere so calm and serene. A peaceful place to visit where you can actually hear yourself think, while you enjoy events!
Beautiful scenes of nature
Great Nature Park. Family friendly and the historic farm is an added bonus!
Great place to go visit but when I went it was very dry and very hot, I think Ill have to try it again once it cools down
Not alot to see, mostly flatlands. Quiet and free though.
The atmosphere here is great. It is a very nice natural area in Gainesville that everyone should visit.
Ticks! There are ticks here so bring bug spray and check afterwards. I didnt do much at Natureside except to walk the Cypress Dome, which was wonderful, and I saw many types of wildlife while out there.
Very nice place to walk.
Very nice area, living histiry farm was great and informative.

Went for the fiddle contest, stayed for the cane boil.
Peaceful farm and nature trails. Spring and fall seed swap and educational events.
Peaceful place. Good for hiking,picnic.
Its not a bad spot, but its not great either. The place seems a little rundown.
Really enjoy going to Morningside, I need to go more often
8t was fun when u went with Westside summer camp in 2012
Watch out for the spiders across the trail.
Great place to view a longleaf pine ecosystem
