If you enjoy nature trails instead of paved pathways, then you’ll enjoy this park. There is a short loop trail that in the spring has wildflowers, starts and ends near an area with bathrooms, covered picnic area, and a small children’s playground. There is also a longer linear out & back trail that follows and traverses the creek using bridges. Both trails are easy & suitable for all levels. I very much enjoyed the dense woodsy area. Parking next to the Elk lodge. No fee to enter.

Lovely park for walking/exercise. The paths have inclines/declines so you get a bit of a workout, and the tree canopy is quite dense, so less sun. Also, due to the lower ground level its a few degrees cooler than other parks. all-in-all, a great place for a good bit of exercise if you are crazy enough to be outdoors in the summer.

Quaint little trail hidden away in the center of Gainesville. Really pretty, and easy to walk down, with a certain je ne sais quoi. Highly recommend it to everyone, particularly with people not looking to commit to a long hike and those with dogs/children; you can honestly walk most of the length within 1-2 hours.

What a wonderful park! The trails are shady and easy to follow. There are water features to enjoy looking at, restrooms and a pavilion a short distance down one trail, and the signage is interesting and informative. I really enjoyed my afternoon in the park!

Every time Ive been here Ive encountered people walking dogs and its a great place for dogs, too, but please keep your dog on a leash or else ensure it is very friendly . . . one ran up to me today and seemed pretty aggressive and wasnt on her leash. So many people walk dogs here that if one is loose and easily excited, I can foresee a dog fight happening if it ran around the corner into another dog. You will almost always encounter other people (and dogs) here, so be aware of that.

I loved the aura of the place. In the middle of the city one can find such a place of solace, was an idea unknown to me. Although Gainesville doesnt have much of a hustle and bustle anyway, but its a great place to sooth your mind and maybe soul. On a summer day, it feels cooler amidst the green than outside. Theres a beautiful trail and theres different type of wildlife too.

Ever want to get out of the city but dont have the time to drive? Ring Park feels like you are in the middle of a forest, with the sounds of the surrounding city deadened by the trees and the Hogtown Creek. Though there is a small playground, flower garden, and a pavilion, the creek is the centerpiece of the park. My kids love to splash and play in the creek, exploring its turns, and maybe find a sharks tooth or two. The boardwalk makes a great place for a walk too. I highly recommend!

One of my favorite local parks. Located between and amongst several neighborhoods. Trailhead by the lodge w parking, with a gate on the entrance that is typically locked at night. Other exits deadend at a sidewalk or circular neighborhood drive without a gate which can be a small walk back if you get locked in. Small central Ramada w picnic tables and water fountain. Most trails follow the creek beds, so can be buggy. Dog friendly if on leashes.

Beautiful. For a park in the middle of a city, it sure does a great job of making you feel like youre in the wilderness. Hit the trails and saw plenty of people on them as well (was there 12-330pm). Only issue was lack of signage or rules clarifying whether bikes are allowed or not. Assumed they were since it didnt say they werent. Fun day, and plenty of tree cover and a few shelters in case you get caught in the rain!

This park is a gem and a case of whats not to like?, really. I debated whether to award four or five stars, and I selected four only because it isnt fully remarkable and outstanding, however, its still a very good park and unique. The county has done a great job of maintaining it as a natural habitat in a suburban residential area while placing enough improvements to make humans comfortable here. Theyve also included handy informational signs explaining the various ecosystems you tour through while walking around and the paths are well-maintained and boardwalks in good repair. There is a wildflower garden which is nice but could be bigger; a playground which seems like an afterthought and should be larger if theyre going to fool with it at all, and some very lovely paths to walk around. One thing I really like is that these paths are as unimproved as possible--dirt and leaf-little aside from where a boardwalk or bridge is necessary--yet very walkable. I dont mind paths I have to scamper around on myself, but I like the idea that everyone from a seven year-old boy to a seventy year-old grandma can enjoy these paths. The Hogtown Creek cuts through here and its a great place to see the creek and understand how it is essential for waterflow for Gainesville. In the nearby Forest Ridge subdivision, you can find a water tower and pumping station which I presume still pumps water for residential use from this watershed.Every time Ive been here Ive encountered people walking dogs and its a great place for dogs, too, but please keep your dog on a leash or else ensure it is very friendly . . . one ran up to me today and seemed pretty aggressive and wasnt on her leash. So many people walk dogs here that if one is loose and easily excited, I can foresee a dog fight happening if it ran around the corner into another dog. A little park tucked away in the suburbs of Gainesville this park offers a unique escape from the city life if one can find it. A lovely place to take a walk and get away or to just sit back and enjoy the scenery.
