Great place to visit. Very close to Washington DC. Plenty of restaurants close by. Free parking. Beautiful garden.The house was rebuild following original drawings along with the furniture. Our tour guide was excellent she provided a lot of details of the life back in time. Highly recommended.

At the time we went they gave private tours. Tour takes place mainly outside and at the end you get to go inside the house. Tour is about 30 mins and contains interesting content.

Our family enjoyed this tour very much. We learned so many things I had no idea about that got me doing research after it was over. I do wish we were able to enjoy this pre-pandemic because we spent the majority of our time outside hearing the stories rather than inside being able to touch and really explore the cabin. We would still definitely do it again!

Great day with a fantastic tour of George Washington boyhood home. A lot of history about the house and Washington family with the life and times. The main building had a great mix of history. I enjoyed the flags of the United States and the inside games of the time. I saw many games being played outside the looked like fun. I would go again and could still learn more.

This home was supposed to be a replica of his home. It appeared extremely modern. Disappointing

Fantastic experience!!!! Such knowledgeable staff!!!! So friendly!!!! They really enjoy sharing their knowledge with the visitors. They fill in the blanks and really educate people.

This place was excellent! Lots of information especially if you like archeology and history. This is a replica of the house Washington lived in on the exact location of the house discovered by archeologists in 2008. The contents of the house are just as it was when Washington was there (but you will have to go to find out how they know!) Take the iPad tour and house tour to get the most out of it. Plan on a 2-3 hour visit.

Nothing to see other than the replica house that was to long of a wait. We paid 48 dollars for 4 people to walk. So not worth it. Very disappointed!

Its super cool to see where history takes place. The tour was well done.

Above ground nothing remains from whatever structures were present in the 1700s. Even the river has migrated away from the course it used to run, which was much closer to the family home. But the organization now running the farm has had good success in piecing the past back together. Last year they finished a reconstruction of the family home, in its original location. (There’s a small opening, inside one of the walls, where you can peer down to the home’s original stone foundation.) Certainly worth visiting if youre in the area.

Honestly this historic site was a let down. The staff are knowledgable and friendly but theres literally nothing there of historic value. It has all been rebuilt and manufactured. The home that they are renovating is not the home GW grew up in. Its just one they built.Theres a lovely reception building with a few artifacts there that are just like what say Martha Washington would have used.A nice place to visit but if your unto authentic history, I would take a pass on this one.

What an awesome and interesting stop along the way to colonial Williamsburg. We are very glad we made a stop.

Great place to learn about George Washingtons early life. You can tour the reproduction of his boyhood home, built using only 18th century techniques. The furniture inside is all also reproduction, not original, so you can touch it and sit in the chairs. They also have an iPad app to take on a walking tour of the property that tells you all about the place. In the visitors center you can see a working archaeological lab.

Our tour guide was excellent & I loved the replica of the house & furnishings.

If you want something to do. Great historic place to visit & learn some history along the way. They allow you to pack your own lunch and take it in & eat in their outside tables, I did it for years because I had little ones. Great family mini-fieldtrip for a sunny day. But, just incase they changed their policy about their food. Give them a call & inform yourself before you make a visit with your packed lunch. They also have different events going on all the time.

The tour is great, grounds are well kept. We learned new information. There are places to sit during the tour as needed.

Hardly anyone stops to visit. Its free and you can have a nice picnik.

This was pretty interesting. I wish there was more to offer here, but I really enjoyed my visit. Wed lived here for more than four years and never visited this place. So I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it and would come back again.

I found the displays quite nice perhaps a few more entries would justify fee

Great place to take the kids for a little lesson on the colonial way of life. Its not an actual historical building but rather a replica built on a historic site

Ferry Farm is a very cool look into George Washingtons past. They have done a great job recreating the house, the tour is well done, and the grounds are lovely. This is a fantastic day trip. I think we spent about 3 hours walking around.

Disappointing yet interesting. We went for the Gingerbread house exhibition. This was disappointing. We were expecting a huge display and what we saw...Eh. However, we toured site and the Guide was excellent. There is a recreation of a period home on the site of George Washingtons boyhood home and several historical digs. Fabulous. Definately made up for the disappointment of the Gingerbread house exhibition.

Great place to learn about the childhood of George Washington. Spend the time time to take the tour of George Washington’s home. It is built on the original location. All the furnishings are hand crafted reproductions using 18th century building practices. You can touch and sit on everything! The film was excellent as is the museum.

This is where George Washington grew up. It was left to rot for over 200 years. Then developers wanted to buy it. Fortunately, it was saved for future generations. And restored as best they could guess. With all the great plans for this site will definitely be interesting to visit again in a few years.

The attention to detail in this recreation is exceptional. The young lady that was our tour guide was friendly, patient, and welcoming. It was a good spontaneous stop.

We werent allowed to walk around.

It was very interesting, they had plenty of activities for the kids, we went for Presidents Day so I would suggest calling to see if they offer those activities year around.

I went with a 1st grade class on a field trip. Very nice experience with lots for the kids to see.

Amazing!! Georges childhood home has been rebuilt and furnished. The museum has many relics from archeological digs. Guides are very well informed and obviously love their work. Well worth the trip.

Really good place to vist and learn and experience what is was like to grow up and get a better understanding of Mr Washington. You get the real story of history, not the urban myths. Great historical site.

Five star for young children or school groups. Provides an accurate glimpse into early life for George Washington. Liked the iPad audio tour as my older children aptly managed to que the next video or audio file. The staff also helped create a personal visit and shared cool information about Hugh Mercer and how general Mercer bought the farm From the Washington’s but probably only his son lived on it.

Only attended the yearly gingerbread house contest but great fun with my granddaughter. Did not view the whole of the farm.

Awesome little place. The self guided tours were a little boring but the actual tour guide was fun and very interactive.

We enjoyed the July 4th celebration there. Many areas of interest, especially George Washingtons boyhood home. Current excavation going on as they are finding all kinds of relics from that era. Fun and educational.

History in detail! Nice folks and awesome walking tour and museum.

My daughter and I really enjoyed about 3 hours here. While everything is reconstructed, the stories told were great. We toured the house, had a picnic in the shade and walked down to the river. It was a lovely time. I will say that the outside tour is conducted via IPad - I have never seen my 9 year old so interested in hearing and re-hearing historical features and tales. IPad history ... brilliant!

It is really good to see the house Washington would have lived in but there is not much else to do there

Whole family had a great time and the kids even learned American history WHILE they had fun. Terrific wardrobes by staff!

Its a little torn up currently due to construction. The entrance wasnt well marked either. The tour guides were very nice. I would give it another two stars if it werent torn up.

We attended the ribbon cutting for the reconstruction of George Washingtons childhood home. The first reconstruction of a structure over the true archeaological foundation. Very special occasion.

What a great place to visit

We were headed to the Pope Creek Childhood Home of George Washington years ago when we observed a very small sign posted that said boyhood home of George Washington, Ferry farm. We backed up went in, parked, our car, just a few people digging on the property, we walked around, and then went down an old road towards the river, it got rough and as I was afraid of snakes we left. That was our first experience with Ferry farm. Years later went in again several digs were going on and much info what was found in those digs. There was a fairly large Visitor Center so we went though that. On we went to Pope Creek and more changes there, went into the Memorial House where a Park Ranger was talking, also where the original home was marked out. A nice Visitors Center there too. At some point we went into the home of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, and the Feilding Home. What a wonderful area to visit. Not sure of the dates now as we have visited the battlefields 2 or 3 times. Extra note My 2 times great-grandfather was with the 16th. Co. A Maine Infantry in the Civil War. Seems to me it was the first battle he was in. Va. is high on our list for Vacations.
