Sadly reduced hours because of covid and Fall season the Museum was closed. We were unable to go on the trolley ride. We were able to get exterior photos and we were greated by this hansom Tabby Cat.
It was fun and informative. Nice to take pictures near the trains. The museum was very limited, but had a limited amount of unique souvenirs. Very unique artwork inside. If you are allergic to cats I would say this place isn’t for you. There are cats EVERYWHERE. It smells like cats too. Although that is the only thing that was different...Riding the trolley was an interesting experience.
This was my first visit to Ft. Smith and to the Trolley Museum for the fall tractor show...while intrigued to see the trolley barn and items outside, there was not much of a museum feel. It was more like a cat rescue that was situated in an old trolley/rail yard. The trolley ride was neat, tho beware the windows if you open them...little fingers could get easily smooshed as they fall down randomly. The squeaking of the trolley on the tracks also had grown adults covering their ears, so hopefully they can get the cars lubed up soon. Most dismaying however, was walking into the gift shop building and the overwhelming smell of cat urine and fecal matter...and not only the smell, but seeing it there all over the floor (on a big day for the museum, no less!) Going back I see many similar reviews/comments which have noted the same problem over the years, so anyone with cat or animal allergies please beware.
Great place to visit or take out of town guests
The fee is 4 dollars per person, and the parking is free. The trolley itself is the Museum, so do not try to get inside the buildings. When you arrive at the station/platform, make a phone call and they will come to pick you up. I trolley is well maintained. The tour guy was super professional and know a lot of history about Fort Smith. I think the tour is worth every penny. I would definitely recommend this place.
This is a great place to learn about fort Smiths history with trains and take wonderful pictures. The museum has alot of cats though so if you are allergic to cats I wouldnt reccomend the museum part of the tour. Or at least try to avoid them. It also just so happens that when I was there, there was also a car show going on.
Wish it was open, was able to walk around the train that were outside
Always a good time whenever we visit the trolley museum. taking a trolley ride with children is not only nostalgic but they learn a lot of history. As an adult it is relaxing and entertaining. They have special events throughout the year. The pictures I will post our of The Polar Express.
It was very enjoyable and a nice place if you have kids. The Vintage locomotives and train cars were very interesting to inspect and see how large they actually were in person was astonishing. We went on a sweet treat Sunday so we received a ice cream sundae with a big old chocolate chip cookie which I could never turn down the conductors of the trolleys were very informative and friendly. Be sure to see the trolley cats. The museum gift shop was rather small and the information was limited inside the museum. The trolley rides on both trolleys were relatively short, less than five minutes a piece and it would be nicer to have a extended ride around the town of Fort Smith. However we had a blast and unlimited trolley rides in a ice cream sundae for five bucks was a steal.
Mr Bradley and his family have put their all into this magical fascinating museum and it shows.
Great ride and history lesson. Enjoyed every second. Highly recommend to anyone.
The conductor was nice and knowledgeable but there are way too many stops on the trolley. Not exactly a fun experience for a toddler. The museum was... very odd. Cats everywhere, stunk, not really a proper museum.
It is an historic place and any train lover will love the access to the trains. The facility is lacking but I forgive them for this because it is totally locally driven by donations.
Fun and fascinating place to go but the inside was a bit dirty and there was several places I seen cat poop on the floor and it smells like a litter box
It is a historic relic of Fort Smith. It is a non-profit organization and gives trolley rides on the original trolleys!
Though the trolley ride isnt very long, it was very interesting, and lots of fun.
Great museum with trolly ride and railroad cars. They got an old Frisco steam engine.
We had a most wonderful experience on the Trolley our driver was the most interesting guide and even sat with my wife as she drove the Trolley back to the museum. Made our day and made the visit that much more special.
We took the whole family on a true Bowiller adventure. This place was great!
The trolley itself was the best part, and really wasnt too exciting. The museum wasnt really a museum but appeared more collection of junk, but i really couldnt stand how bad the place smelled! The owner has 17 cats coming in & out, I love cats, but the odor of cat urine was just unbearable for me.
My daughter had the best time and the people were so friendly and informative.
Great history lesson
This place is a joke. My son is obsessed with trolleys so we went. It was like a museum out of a horror movie. I was completely creeped out. We ended up catching the trolley at another stop. The driver did not obey traffic signals and nearly got us hit.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Trolley Museum. This was my 2nd visit, but only the 1st time to actually ride the refurbished trolley. It was an absolutely wonderful experience, and the driver was very knowledgeable about the history behind the Trolley. Great fun and experience.
Not sure what to say! Outside looked cool. We followed the signs leading to the museum. Went in and signed the visitor book. After that, all we saw was a hoard of cats, cat litter boxes, smells of urine. Nobody greeted us. We proceeded towards the “store” and as we looked around, we noticed what appeared to be a homeless shelter or hangout. Bless the owner for providing shelter or whatever but after we were passed by homeless man walking to his “bed” near the visitor book, we thought maybe we should go back to our car and go. No conductor or volunteers were seen the entire 5 minutes we were there. Not the safest feeling being there!
A very unique and very special addition to our history!
Not a lot to see but the tour guide will tell you a lot about the trolley cats! And the ride is so fun!
Pros: knowledge guide, good price for entire family, got to drive the trolley the last leg of the trip.Cons: this ride is 20% moving, 80% talking. The conductor would drive the trolley for a few blocks and then stop to spin a couple of yarns. After reading reviews that claimed this was a great activity for 3 years olds, I really dont know what they were thinking. Our kids were beyond bored after the second Stop and did not make it though the entire ride. As a history buff, even I didnt find everything worth my time. Ironically enough, I felt that more time could have been spent on the trolley system in Fort Smith. Much of the other history from the town is covered better by other sites in the town such as the Museum of History or the NHS.
Cool scenery. Fun ride. Decent price
It was good, not a lot to do. But nice place to see.
My 3 year old had a blast! We rode the trolly, saw the museum and strolled around old ft Smith all day.
My kids have loved riding the trolley on several occasions especially when the re-enactment group “robs” the trolley.
Pretty cool stuff here. Could do without all the cats, though.
We enjoyed this place and we took some great photos.
We took the ancient trolley ride thru town and had a fun experience as well as learnt a lot about the history of Fort Smith AR. We also toured the caboose. I would not recommend going into the museum building if youre allergic to cats.
Amazing so much cool information we all learned. Prices are not expensive at all! Its def a must go too!! .
Great place for train lovers. The staff are super friendly and can tell you lots of information about the exhibits. Great place to tour and wonderful photo opportunities.
Inside a small old garage there are trolleys packed in like sardines. If the clutter doesnt make you feel uncomfortable the cat smell should. All in it was an experience I will never forget.
Took my 3 young children for the Polar Express reading and train right decision. Had a great time and the staff was amazing
I liked it. Short, calm ride. The only thing was the trolley was breaking down and the girls in the trolley kept making rude comments to the young conductor. And also we werent correctly informed when or where the Easter egg hunt was and walked half the way back. But Im not complaining because the older people at the museum were trying to make the people comfortable with very limited accommodations.
Great machines from the past presented and maintained by knowledgeable, honest people...I love this place! Take caution if you are allergic to cats.
The museum part was pretty bad. We were ignored and the gift shop was closed. The workshop building was interesting. There was someone there talking about what they do. You could also ride a trolley, though we didnt. We needed to get on the road.
Really neat place. Especially if you want to do something you dont do all the time.
The museum itself is a collection of various train cars, engines, etc. They are neat to look at, but not really my thing. The trolley ride itself was absolutely worth every penny. Im not sure how long the route is, but our conductor was amazing. He taught us the history along the route; from the National Cemetery, to the Trail of Tears marker, to Judge Parkers hanging gallows and Miss Lauras bordello turned visitors center. He was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining for the entire trolley ride.It is a lot of fun and well be doing it again when were back in the area.
The operater was nice but the trolley was very badly in need of repairs. He said the stupid director could not get anyone to help with repairs and thats because he runs everyone off who questions him about anything. He also said he wont repair the rotten ties.
Great place to visit, a lot of history . Kids would love it
Fun little trolly ride with the kids. Worth it. They said pretty soon the reply will be able to go around downtown more.
The hours state Monday thru Saturday, 10am to 5pm, May 1st to October 31st, but doors were locked. Very disappointing to the kids!
Love it. Quick historical walkthrough with a pokestop and kiddo town.
I used to love riding the trolley when I was younger and loved hearing the conductor give the history of Fort Smith. I have taken my kids several times to ride the trolley over the past year and we always get the same conductor(younger man) who doesnt give any history and is unable /unwilling to answer questions. :-(
Great history
Neat place, fun ride
The Conductor was super knowledgeable and entertaining!
Loved it moving by it felt so nostalgic
Interesting history and knowledgeable people to share it. The trolley ride is worth the time.
Wonderful event for Mothers Day.
The trolley driver really went out of his way to make my little girls birthday party experience one that she will always remember. Kaleb Bell I believe was his name.
Great place to visit and join a trolley ride and learn more about trolley. Must see if in Fort Smith.
An amazing work of Mr. Bradley Martin giving life to old trolleys. Worth a visit.
It was a nice ride and u heard about the history of the park and the hanging judge
Paid full price for a 100ft ride because the operator said there were mechanical problems and couldnt cross the street. No refunds offered at all. Operator was dressed in a t shirt & tennis shoes. Not at all what we expected. My son loves trains & trolleys. Needless to say, he was heartbroken because he expected a longer ride.
Im there doing my community service at the time they said were I was going I was nervous I really enjoyed working with everyone I really hope the community gets more involved
Mr Robert was awesome with the kids! Great experience!
I have never been here before yesterday!! I like it
Very enjoyable, just got when its cool weather
Really enjoy the trolley ride, and tour of the repair shop
I love trains, so I love this place
Disorganized organization. The people coyld not answer my questions about tickets. The lobby smelled of cat urine, probably from all of the cats I saw running around inside. I did not tour the museum because of the aweful smell.
A wonderful way to step back in time and see what it was like to ride a trolley.
The lines were long and the Tolley ride was short but my son loves everything train!
Went for the polar express. was informative to a degree and the staff helping with the lines were less than happy to be there. hopefully we just caught them on a bad night.
Once you are here, you will be Completely dipped in Past. Where you see all the tracks, engines, coaches of that amazing era.
The people and the history is what makes this museum special, not to mention the highly informative Trolley ride and the extensive knowledge of the drivers. This is a MUST SEE experience in Fort Smith!! Great fun!
Very nice friendly people, lots of information, lots of fun. Beautiful train too. :-)
Cool deal had fun
Been coming here since high school.
Happy place.
Good, cheap entertainment.
Very neat place
We enjoyed the ride and its interesting to learn about the history of the trolleys and trains in Fort Smith.
Wonderful. Everyone should visit .
Fun
Quaint but the kids had fun riding the trolley
Great history & love all the trains & trolleys! Oh ya dont forget the kitties too!
Great facility, displays, folks, and the cats!
Interesting history on trolleys
Cute historic site.
Works in progress at the workshop. Trolley rides under $4 and today we had a small engine and tractor show.
