Absolutely wonderful experience. Smaller group so you could be involved and ask questions while still being able to see. Doug was fantastic. We missed the baby sea turtles coming out of the nest, but other volunteers who were watching the nest caught 84 baby sea turtles who were disoriented by the lights. We were able to see them up close in the buckets while they transported them to darker part of the beach and watched their release. It was amazing. Not only was this a once in a lifetime experience but also very informative. I’ll never look at the bright beach lights the same, or the illuminated trucks that drive by. Completely worth the trip and trek. Also they only operate on what finds they receive from the public, so it’s also good to know that you’re also helping to support such a great organization.

This was a great experience, my family and I went on the turtle trek in July last year.We saw 79 green sea turtle babies crawling out of their nest. We got to help the sea turtles get to the water and we also got to name them.We learned lots of things about sea turtles and the environment. We will never forget this day, or the sea turtle babies.

Let me tell you. This was worth the trip to Fort Lauderdale alone! Rich and Zen are beautiful people who truly care about the plight of the sea turtles. They have passion and complete focus on not only taking you out to see what they do but opening your eyes to a true endangered species problem you didnt know about.***of course nature is unpredictable and they cannot promise you will SEE turtles***On our midnight trek however we saw two full grown mama turtles nest and bury their eggs and go back out to sea. An awe inspiring experience that was second to none. I would not reccomend for anyone with low patience or understanding of the environmental efforts these wonderful people have sacrificed their time for. Photos cannot be taken but lifelong memories were made. Or young children as this was a 4+ hour trek starting at midnight.

An amazing experience that you will never forget! We tried this about 5 months ago from today and we still see the image of the hatching turtles. Our guide Doug was very interactive and encouraged our group to ask questions, they were very clear with the rules but they were also very kind and didn’t ever get irritated. They also let us name the turtles before we place them into the water. We think about the baby turtles every day, and how we helped them get to the ocean.

STOP is the premiere marine turtle hatchling rescue organization in Broward county. They save thousands of hatchlings per year, and have a hundred fifty committed volunteers that monitor the beach at night for disoriented turtles. They also rescue adult and juvenile turtles that have been tangled, injured, or stranded on the beach. They offer turtle treks to the general public, for observing a sea turtle nest hatchout. Its a must-see in Fort Lauderdale.

Love this memorable experience. The introduction was kind of long. But it was all worth it. We waited for some babies to hatch and it took a fre for it to come out but worth it. Thank you for your organization.

AMAZING. You cant miss it: very professional, interesting and loving experience.I went to the 11,30pm trek.We were able to see two nest of little turtles raising and going to the ocean (with a huge help of volunteers Richard and his wife Zen) and a green turtle mum coming out from the ocean to nest (although of course you cant approach her to respect her nesting moment).Everything is runned by volunteers, so be happy to pay the 25 dollars cause it is really worth it.THANK YOU for the best experience in Florida, Richard and Zen you are a great example.

Just a great night helping the little guys find the sea. Super passionate and informative guides who are volunteers really hit home how critical the turtles situation is without being pedantic or preachy. We had a good time even though that night was an odd one in that there were only a couple of turtles who had straggled from an earlier hatching, but it was so rewarding when they were found and we got them to the ocean.

Amazing...I put in the time needed, and I was able to see three loggerhead sea turtles coming ashore to lay eggs, AND the birth of 86 turtles that all needed help in finding the ocean to survive. One of the greatest experiences!

Great place to get connected with nature and learn about important and sometimes overlooked creatures of South Florida. The class is informative, and the trek, while not a guarantee, is exciting because of the spontaneity that nature offers.
