Small neighborhood walking park with a trail that follows a small river. Not crowded when I went. If youre looking for a densely wooded place to walk this is the place. If youre looking for a place to have a picnic or a playground this is not the place.
Its huge, plenty of room to social distance. Great trails too & places to picnic. Very Nice!
Just found this place and have been living nearby for 15 years. We saw very few people on the trails. It is kept very clean, the longest trail is only a few miles, but makes a great after breakfast stroll.
Its nice becarful you might get lost
The Ridge is a nice little park for an easy hike, biking or just to have a quick, peaceful getaway in the middle of civilization. However, for those who live on this road it it is anything but peaceful on weekends or special events. It is a constant parade of cars up and down this once quiet subdivision road. Some really enjoy sharing their very loud music with the whole subdivision while they go to and from the park, and some just don’t believe the stop sign or speed limit applies to them. I enjoy the outdoors, loud music and having fun just like all those going to the Ridge, but please remember this road runs through a residential neighborhood. I realize residents of this neighborhood also may do the things previously mentioned, but now it’s exponentially multiplied. Ironically, a park dedicated to enjoying nature and protecting habitat has ruined the enjoyment of ours.
Fun trails. Great to walk there. Trails are all clearly marked
A lot of great trails and peaceful scenery too.
Great hike. Well maintained trails.
Great trail. I would not go alone. There is very little direction on this very wooded trail. Dont go alone.
Very nice enjoyed it wish we had more places like that.
Trails were well maintained and marked. Beautiful in the morning.
Decided to check out The Ridge recently for a relaxing hiking date, and it was lovely! We pulled in, found some lovely benches to sit and have lunch at, and the walked some of the trails. Everything we saw was lovely! We managed to find a nice Fall afternoon with decent weather, and we walked through all of the falling leaves on the trails. They were well defined, and easy to follow. Plenty of space to walk, and a lot of lovely things to see. We even found a turtle! If you are looking for an easy hike, I would certainly recommend The Ridge for a pleasant experience!
Great place for a hike or stroll in the woods. Dogs are welcome as well.
Great trails, plenty of History to read about, beautiful scenery
Great local trails. The Ridge is a nice place to get outside and unplug. A bit rocky and root-y but the trail system is well marked with varying routes. Mountain biking, hiking, trail running are welcome. Ive met lots of like-minded folks on the trail and friendly dogs who just want to say hi.
The trails were well kept, this didnt get a full 5 stars because the bathrooms were really gross... but the veiw is beautiful and a hidden gem!
Good easy to moderate walks along multiple trails. Shaded and can get muddy after rain. Multiple cross trails to shorten or lengthen walk.
This was my first visit to the Ridge Nature Reserve. I noticed immediately the park was very clean. We parked near building that had restrooms. The restrooms seemed clean and well stocked of toilet paper. There are a few notices tacked on the building. Please be sure to look at the trail map on the other side of the building. Trails are color coded trails. You can choose the trail you want. My advice, if you are not familiar with the trails, use your cellphone and take a picture of the map for a reference if walking the trails. Some trails are longer than others. My group of 3 choose the long blue coded trail. The trail was well marked. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes! Along the trails are markers with numbers. Basically, it says, if there is an emergency, call 911, and give the marker number. I like that feature! Because one never know when an emergency will arise. Enjoy your walk at your own pace! We were walking the trail for about 90 minutes. Beautiful cool and refreshing morning to enjoy nature and get some exercise! When we came out from the trails, we found ourselves walking the gravel road back to where our car was parked. We noticed a picnic area. It was very clean and had plenty of trash cans. We also noticed signs about walking your pet. The trails are dog friendly. The park is open from sunrise to sunset. What would I improve? Occasionally have a park bench on the longer trails for resting. Also for those that didnt take a picture of the map, post a map at some of the numbered markers. While we were there, we didnt notice any forest ranger or park employee. I wouldve liked to have seen an employee if I had questions. Overall, the nature reserve park is beautiful serene, clean and quiet! We will return!
I am new at this hiking deal, I am a runner so I decided to explore the hiking world and I searched hiking trails near me. Loved the different trails, they are color coded and easy to follow and not and each trail ends where you started, parking avaliable and bathrooms are decent and fairly clean. You can bring your dogs to walk, and the earlier the better, bring bug repellent because of mosquitoes, they have plenty of picnic tables and its a great place to explore with the family. Needless to say you will have fun or relax and meditate. Either way its a great place to visit.
Very much enjoyed the trails. Great for a light hike or ride.
Great hiking, dogs are welcome.
Hard to find and even harder to beat. Nice trails for walking or riding your bike.
Great spot for an afternoon run! The trail map on the bathroom building was a nice addition (after I finally found it). The trails were nicely marked but I managed to get turned around for a few minutes and didn’t really know how to get back to my vehicle. Overall, a great small hiking trail
Amazing place to escape and is close but feels like a getaway
Hard to find its in the very back of a subdivision
Last time I came to this park, there were no bathroom or other facilities. Now they have nice trails, parking, and restrooms. Nice work folks!
I just love this place so much.
Good hikes and well marked trails right in the middle of the neighborhood.
Its a great place to enjoy a spot of nature. Good trails for walking, running, and biking. A few really beautiful areas to relax. My only wish is it was larger as its hard to squeeze out a 10k run. Also, the construction in some areas isnt finished. Once thats done, Id give it 4.5 stars.
Great run in the woods.
Well kept area trails are pretty flat very nice for quick hike or trail run.
I came here on a Friday afternoon, with my little daughter. The forest was deserted with no one... On the way we met a turtle nest protected by a small net cage having a note ... On the way back, we saw a man who seemed to be a doctor studying forest. .. After that, a emergency call to me and ask me why I called 911 and asked me to read my own phone number to confirm...
Beautiful rivers on both sides of where you park down to the left youll find a river and to the right farther back youll find another River. awesome hiking in Sandy Trails next to the river
Beautiful trails well maintain friendly people
Good place for hiking.
Great place for a hike or to ride your mountain bike off road. My family and I love it there.
I enjoy this place the scenery is fantastic
Hermoso - I am a nature lover and this was my first time here, loved it!!
Low mileage and poor drainage, but the trails are extremely well marked by blazes. Id like to go back an see the creek when the waters lower.
Beautiful natural setting - my favorite place to meet friends for picnic lunch
Beautiful trail along Gingercake Creek. Visited April 1st and the wildflowers and greenup were magnificent. Not crowded at all. So peaceful.
When life gets hectic its nice to retreat to the peace and quiet of the Ridge.
Love the long hiking trails that provide a beautiful place to get some fresh air and find my thoughts. You can bike on the trails as well, if you wish, and many people bring their dogs.
Woneedful for hiking but could be strenuous for young children. Stay on the trail! Easy to lose track with such beauty around, honestly amazing trail filled with natural beauty.
Nice trails and picnic area. Trails are fairly easy and well marked. Picnic area has picnic tables. Bathrooms are built but not open yet but they do have porty potties and a hand washing station. 2 separate trails for mountain bikes. Overall a very nice place.
Peaceful and quiet, a great place for a run.
Ive been going here pretty often since its close to home, only about 20 minutes away. Its beautiful and secluded. I take my dogs walking on the trails and they are exhausted by the time we get back to the car.
Our family really enjoys this new nature preserve. We know they are still working on building it up so it is still in development. Weve been here for a couple of events, gone hiking and geocaching here and always enjoy it. Just remember to bring some insect repellent as the mosquitoes and ticks are all over the place. It is also very pet friendly for dogs.
Great place to go walking
Its very quiet, not where youd expect to find a nature preserve. I expect to spend time here often.
Very well shaded area, went on a bright sunny day
Amazing place, full of various trails, beautiful scenery and adventure.
Beautiful area. Lots to do and see. Trails are easy to follow you can bike, hike or hang out by the creek. Minutes from downtown Fayetteville
Absolutely beautiful place right in the heart of Fayette County. I would have given at five stars, But the rest area still isnt open after a year or so and they paved way too much of the beautiful Earth.
Very quiet & peaceful.
From michigan and I enjoyed..
Always a nice quite place for a hike or a short walk in the woods away from everything.
Excellent garden to visit. Plants are grouped I areas that add to the beauty.
This place is far larger than I ever expected. The trails are very well marked (take a picture of the map for reference), and there are 10-12 different trails of varying lengths. A gorgeous area- hard to believe youre in the middle of Fayetteville. Once you get away from the parking lot, you never see evidence of civilization.
Nice little area hidden right here. Very easy hikes. Nothing amazing to see, but a great place to get outside.
Awesome nature trails!
Very nice!
Great Park!.Make sure to have a map your first time. The trails are marked but it helps to have a map to know where you are. This is a great addition to Fayette County.
Need a place to think and explore?...come here.
Nice place, super close.
Beautiful little nature preserve only about 2 miles from home.A real hidden gem. Cant wait to see what else they do with it.
Great place for a hike. Love it.
I love this place! I work a half mile from here and I run the trails almost every day! I am so happy that it is here!
Our first time there it was nice
Absolutely amazing nature area given the particular location. Its easy to forget your in the middle of Fayetteville.
Peaceful for short or long walk.Multiple terrains. Great for dog walking.
Wonderful place to bring the family.
Great place for a hike or just time with nature and only a few minutes from town.
Great place to walk or run. Many kilometers of great trails. Wildlife abounds.
Great set of trails for hiking, running, and some short mountain biking. Being developed currently.
Great trails and scenery! Well marked!
The Nature trails are very well marked, and the woods are beautiful. I caution hikers to be aware of small stumps on the paths! I tripped over two of them!
Geat place for a walk I wnjoyed being at this park. As a first time hiker I must say me and my boyfriend was a little lost on reading the map trying to get around it looks like a small place but its really big and you can get lost so take a photo of the may!!!
Nature is so important for the well-being of humans this place gives you peace
Nice trails and close to home
Just wonderful!
Beautiful spot
Was very nice
Great walking trails. I want to try the camping area.
