Nice casual hike/walk. Gets busy on the weekends but more casual on the weekdays during the earlier hours.People need to do better with their dogs poo and doesn’t make sense to wrap it in a bag and throw the bag into the woods...
Its quiet and pretty with very well marked trails. Most of the trails are very easy to walk on. There arent many hills so its the perfect place to go if you just want to spend some time in nature.
Had a wonderful time with my wife and pup. Not sure which one of the 3 of us enjoyed it the most.
Not bad, not great! A lot of people dont really give a hoot about keeping their dog on a leash.... Lotta wet, muddy poodles labradoodles running up on you. Not everyone is a dog person Fairfield.... Very heavy traffic all around.
One of the best place to walk your dog.
Great hikes for us and the dog.
If you love your dog and want to make them incredibly happy, go here. General Electric donated this land called the Cascades to locals for hiking, swimming and dog friendly activities. It is amazing. In the upper parts of the trails, once you get 100 away from any parking or picnic area, the dogs can be off-leash along as they remain on the brushed path and remain within the owners control. Most dogs sniff each and eith play or move on. In 9 years, I havent had any real issues there and the benefits of being able to have my dog run free for miles as I hike the trails is tremendous. The dogs can swim in the Upper pond that is the highest altitude accessible pond which cascades down to Lake Mohegan. Pictures opportunities everywhere. At no point are you allowed to swim with your dog anywhere and dangerous areas are well posted. The water can get very deep and fast in some areas and pose a risk. There are several very slow, meandering parts of the water as well as upper trails in case your canine companion prefers walking over water sports. The outer boundaries have some fencing but as the rules clearly state, have your dog under your control. One side of the park does border the Merritt and it would not take long for those 4-legs to make it to the Highway.Lately there is talk of eliminating the dogs. I dont know why. 95% of the people there on the trails are dog owners and 98% of them are very responsible as far as picking up after their dogs or controlling unforeseen behavior.I speculate this comes from the public beach side which has had a large financial infusion and has ruined the paths with clear cutting trees along the lake...because why would you go to the woods to see trees or walk your dog?I highly suggest you go and become vocal in keeping the park open for all.
Nice nature walk several trails to walk swimming fishing, refreshment stand.
Be aware a lot of ticks are here
Great place to Hike and you can let the dogs run, PLEASE clean up after your dog. Some people need to clean up after themselves - but in general this is a great place to hike.
Its serene and the hiking trail is decent. I wish pet owners would clean up after their pets. During the summer theres a sprinkler for the children and the lake itself is there for all to enjoy. Theres a nominal fee for a season pass even for non-Fairfield residents.
Its paradise for your dog! You can take a beautiful walk through the woods, around the lake, and alongside the stream. And your dog can be off leash. There are some great spots for your canine to swim and play with other dogs. I highly recommend spending an hour or two on a Spring or Fall day enjoying the outdoors.
Clear paths, well maintained
We discovered this gem about two years ago and it is my absolute favorite park to take the dog in Fairfield County. The simple trails wrap around this quaint little lake and they allow dogs off leash on the trails. Extremely clean and well maintained. They offer fishing in the river that connects to the lake, the dogs can go swimming in certain areas of the lake and there is an awesome man-made beach with a playground that is perfect for kids.
It was amazing I went there with my family we had admit of fun when we certified the steam. The best party was that it was completely free. We bring our dog and there was alot of other dogs there, and they were all very friendly
Fabulous place to take your dog and hike. My dog loves the water, being able to fun, climb and meet other dogs and people
Very beautiful lake, I took a star just because there is very few dog dropping since alot of people take their dogs. But other than that it was a beautiful lake
Great place to walk your dog. Off leash, nice trails. Plenty of swimming holes on the lake and streams for your derp.
Great place for hiking with your dogs! Easy to moderate trails and a few places for your dog to jump in the lake.
