University Mall Theatres is my favorite movie theater in the area. I love how it feels like a family and that theyre always so happy to see us. I even love calling the line to hear the updates and what movies that they are showing.My family took advantage of renting out the theater and brought our old DVD of 80s favorite movies and it was the most fun weve had all summer. We are so excited to come again and would like to rent the theater monthly to run through the classics.Thanks so much for being such a great part of the community!

A wonderful place for college students and family a like. I have had some of my favorite memories there and its a great local gem. Plus, their popcorn is to die for!

Even though theyre not showing movies at the moment theyre still an awesome place and the popcorn is just as good. Cant wait to see something as soon as they can let us.

Locally run business doing what they can to stay open. We rented a theater on a Wednesday afternoon for $100 (included 12 people with small drink and popcorn for each), brought our own DVD and got to have a small socially distanced birthday celebration for a 7 year old.

Love this place, simple, clean and inexpensive. Grest place to take a group of kids and not break the bank. Great friendly environment and the employees that work here are always pleasant. Ive been going here for 6 years and never had a bad experience. I will always support this theater.

Always come here, supporting small local businesses is important.Plus they are cheaper, better service, and better popcorn than anywhere else. I also love the smoothies.But that opening please be quiet and dont litter clip they play before a film is so ugly and has terrible punctuation. Someone please make them a better one.

I came here for Military Mondays Movies through Vettix. Traffic being what it is had me late to the cinema. Since I was the only person in the theater, the manager re-started the movie for me. How sweet!Its a cozy theater with great costumer service throughout. Im appreciative that theyre not new releases because sometimes you really need to see a movie on the big screen.Id definitely return, and go a size larger on the .

VERY affordable and the popcorn is delicious. Dont take someone there on a first date trying to impress them. Do take someone there for a date, as a test. If he or she doesnt complain, you have a keeper.

This place is great. It feels like an old time, no frills place, but its been recently updated, the auditorium was clean, and the picture and sound were great. A total hidden gem in Fairfax.

Best place in NOVA to catch a movie. The staff is so friendly and the popcorn is easily the best around. The seats are pretty comfortable and for a small theater theyve got quite the operation.Always willing to wait out movies on initial release so I can see them here instead.

I hate yo leave negative feedback, but I have to. Theres a guy whos really rude to the customers. He shouldnt be working there. If you guys want customers to come and enjoy the movies that guy should not work there. Otherwise, I really like the theater itself.

This is a great theater. It almost went out of business until the community rallied around it. The community donated money to the theater for specific items and as a way to thank its patrons the theater created plaques with their customers names and posted them on the chairs. There is plenty of parking, the theater is kept extremely neat, and the staff is wonderful. Movie tickets are sold at great prices. Its no wonder the community rallied around such a great business!

This is a second run theater that is a landmark of the area. The theater is modern clean and a great place to watch a movie at reasonable prices. The theater is within walking distance to George Mason University and located in a shopping center that caters to the neighborhood and GMU students.

One of the few small theatres left. Great when you wanna get on a budget. Movie for $5 and they dont kill your wallet at the snack bar. Definitely worth the wait to see movies a little while after their release.

I hadnt been here in about 10 years, so I was pleasantly surprised by the upgraded sound system. For the price youre paying to watch movies here, they use pretty good sound. And, for a movie, thats huge. The screen is a bit small compared to AMC and Regal theaters, but, hey youre paying at least 1/3 the price. If top quality is what youre looking for, and bang for buck doesnt really matter to you, look elsewhere. But if you want s cheap theater with a bigger screen and much better sound system than what you probably have at home, this is a terrific value.

Its a cross between the more modern theaters and the older ones that show second-run movies. Its perfect for a college town, which is exactly what its for.

I love this theater. Went to Rocky Horror, and had a great time for only 6$! Then the next weekend I got to see Toy Story 4 with my son for an incredible reduced price. Concessions are fairly priced unlike so many theaters in the area. This is a gem in NoVA.

This place rocks! Super cheap. Perfect place to take kids, especially on $2 Tuesday. And they have very reasonable prices for popcorn and drinks. The people that work here are also super friendly. Giving it 5 stars even though it could use a little bit of freshening up. But thats probably why the prices are so good.

Support your locally operated theater! The staff is super friendly, and a great resource for cinematic recommendations. Dont expect all the thrills of a big theater, but the price is worth the lesser amenities.

Little theater with only 3 movies at once. Their snacks are fresh and reasonably priced. The movie starts on time with previews not commercials. Its not too cold during the show. What more could you ask for?

Right price for parents and grandparents to take the youngsters to see animated films and past prime movies. Its very basic but seatings are nicely arranged so every little one can see the screen.

Its tucked on the far backside of the shopping center but theres a sign in the front which is confusing. I wouldnt recommend you buy food/ drinks here since the staff doesnt keep track of how old the coffee is or maintain the hot drink machine. I was served cold coffee and my husbands tea looked like cloudy water. I doubt they keep metrics on anything so steer clear! Remembe No dates No Times = Trash.

The only theater in town that wont cost you an arm and a leg. Great place to see second-run movies with comfortable seats and high quality digital screens. The audio experience tends to be slightly lower than at mainstream theaters, which is great for bringing children who might be sensitive to the louder noises. They post their weekly schedule on their website and Facebook, which always includes a good kids movie or two as well as a Blockbuster and something more low-key. You can also catch Rocky Horror Picture Show at midnight every Saturday night.Bring cash for a quicker experience.

My family and I have been going to University Mall Theater for about a year now, and they never disappoint. Their prices are unbelievable and unbeatable, the snacks as good as any, and the sound and visuals first rate. This is our go-to place anytime we’re bored, because it doesn’t cost us a fortune to see a movie. Only thing they could fix is making sure they don’t run out of piña colada smoothies... they’re always out when I want one!

My mom and I went to the cheap movies every Tuesday growing up; it was $1.50 I think, I think its $3 now. Its a great option if you want a cheap night out and dont enjoy dropping almost $20 per person to go to movies when they first come out.

This theater reminds me of my childhood as my hometown had a five dollar theater right down the street. I grew up watching second-run movies and didnt care that it wasnt opening weekend.this theater is located very close to the George Mason campus so oftentimes there are a lot of college students. you can watch a movie for five bucks or less and they have pretty good popcorn and other snacks . the one downside is that sometimes the theater patrons do not take good care of it and leave big messes.Other than that, the theater has digital cinema, digital surround sound, and they have relatively new seats. Its come a long way since I first saw a movie there.

Great Value. My only complaint is that when the fill the popcorn buckets, they scoop the broken pieces from the bottom of the bin.... lots of them. Has happened last 2 times I attended. Staff is great.

I am the kind of person who does not mind waiting a bit to see a movie. If you dont mind waiting to see something this is a great theater. It is a no frills type of place, but you cant beat the prices.

Great theater. Shows good movies just before they go to video for less than half what youd pay earlier in their runs. Screen size is like the small screens at a multiplex but intimate--not a bad seat in the house. Nice staff, clean, easy. Great value.

Hidden gem. Definitely pay attention to their show listings as they have many near-mew shows for a discount price. Able to see oscar nominated movies before the win... thats awesome.

Cant beat a theater that plays movies a few months late and compensates for it by having reasonable prices. The employees here are always friendly and helpful and seem like theyre enjoying their jobs. The things that matter have been upgraded - the viewing and sound are great. The whole place feels like a dive, but its not like theyre trying to hide it. We love University Mall Theaters!

Truly a wonderful treat to experience $2 Tuesdays especially with kiddos that cannot sit still longer than an hour! We loved how it was decorated for Halloween, the popcorn was very tasty, and employees accommodating! Only flaw Id have to mention is the little bit of mildew/mold scent in the theater we were in.

I never knew the tickets were for 5 $ only! The theater was packed and we enjoyed the movie.

Been going hear for years love this place

This theater was great! Although it was a bit smaller the prices were much more economical. We had taken our sons to their first movie experience and ticket prices were the main attraction for us. Additionally it’s all of the other things to do with a trip to the movies that add up to a big expense; popcorn candy and drinks....All of these things to her less expensive than big movie theaters. I would certainly recommend this theater to anyone who maybe wants to watch a little bit of an older movie at a discounted price.

Love this place! They show late run movies for a reduced admission price. New comfortable seating paid by fan crowd sourcing, new Dolby sound, competitive concessions. $2 Tuesday if you pay cash. Ive seen so many good films here full screen without destroying the budget. Highly recommended.

I live in PG County however I enjoy coming to this location because it feels safe and more family like.

Older theater. Lower (standard) prices: $5 adults, $4 kids under 14, student, over 60. Popcorn and drinks average $4, refills $1. sound and projection of decent quality. On the back side of the plaza (lower level). Fair amount of parking. More in the University Mall than you might expect.

Weve gone there for years. (By the way, they really DO have great popcorn.) Everything thats been written is spot-on: low admission is the trade off for seeing terrific movies a few weeks later. What has always caught our eyes is how friendly the staff is. Hard to beat the combination.

Its a bit old school and a little worn out but the price was good and afternoon senior discount was a bonus.

Really good cheap movie theatre if you can concentrate on movies and not get distracted by others. Seats may not be the best but are still comfy. Concession stand is fine too.Movies are $4 except Tuesdays when they are only $2. GMU students, senior citizens and military get discounts! Movie showings change each week, and Rocky Horror Picture Show is every Friday or Saturday.

Pretty much one of my favorite movie theaters. Tuesdays is $2. You get a discount for being a George Mason University student when you show your ID card. The popcorn here is tasty with the seasonings they provide. I always put cheddar cheese seasoning on my popcorn.

I absolutely love this theatre. The popcorn is great. The restrooms are always clean. The place is older, but I love the environment of this place; its family run and the staff is nice. This theatre uses deal flicks which is super awesome considering it is already a cheap theatre. Only thing missing is pickles for sale here!

Lots of good second run movies

We saw solo at the University Mall theatres last night. $5 for the shared experience of watching an action movie in a large dark Auditorium. Priceless. The theater is very old style, with paper tickets out of a dispenser. No Advance sales here. Just pay at the door, and they prefer cash. Friendly young enthusiastic concession staff completes the experience. This is how movies used to be. This is how going to the movies should be. Did I mention its $5 and there are discounts during the week?

The staff was really nice and friendly. Its really reasonably priced. The seats are a little bit old, but I think the only thing that actually bothered me was the showtimes for a kids movie. Its extremely hard work working parents to get to the movies in the morning or 4:30 pm.

Its not a great theater by any means, but its fair priced to give the kids a fun movie experience. I give it 5 stars because Id never want to see it go out of business.

I enjoy how cheap the movies are. The only thing is because it is a small theater, if the movie in the next theater over is an action movie, it can be heard through the wall.

This particular cinema is easy to spot with an excellent location. It is surrounded with so many shops and restaurants around it. I love the luxury of picking my own seats which is allowed here. Otherwise its surely a place I would always to come back to.

Best and cheapest movie experience in town! Though some of the other expensive theatres have occasional deals, you can always count on the University Mall Theatres. Plus its family owned and I like to support mom and pop shops. Been going here since college and now Im taking my kids!
