Excellent location with beautiful, expansive views. Im not a, wine guy by any means, but I thought the wine was very tasty. However, I was with a larger crowd and the group consensus was the wine was, adequate, but not exceptional (thus deducting one star). The food was excellent as well.
We were fortunate to have a 6:00 p.m. reservation on a night that the sun had set just an hour before. The view of North county westward from San pasqual is beautiful, an area uninterrupted with the lights of suburbans sprawl. The wineries property is beautiful with multiple levels of seating all with a beautiful view. The food is excellent, but I really recommend the pizzas! The wine pairs well, you will not be disappointed to make the short trip out!
Excellent Winery! Great wine. I feel so sorry for them. SDG&E shut their power off because of the wind and Garvin Newsom is shutting down wineries for 3 weeks AGAIN! Im praying for you.
Gorgeous view you cannot beat with a sunset that’s more than postcard worthy. Thank you Samantha for being extremely accommodating and cordial for our anniversary (promote her)! The service was the icing on the cake.
Love this place. The owners are the most friendliest people in the world, the staff is even better. The food is great and the wine, is remarkable. The view I cannot explain with words you have to see yourself. Please make a reservation because for somewhere, that is in the middle of the mountains you would never expect all those people to be there.
Beautiful vistas complement the wine tasting flights and decent Italian food at the Cordiano Winery. The pizza (GF options available) was excellent, as are the spaghetti and meatballs. The Fettuccini Alfredo was perfectly fine, though it needed a bit more flavor and was maybe too heavy a choice for a hot day. That said, they are doing a great job in the midst of the pandemic.
Beautiful view and sunset, nice selection of foods. Tried several different pizzas and all were very good. Menu is a bit heavy on the carbs if you are ok with that, and does offer gluten free pizza crust. Atmosphere was friendly, relaxed, live jazz music later in the evening. Very nice!
We had visitors from out of town who we were entertaining and chose the winery based on the impressive recent reviews. The covid precautions seem very self serving, we had to place our own order, where as in all of the SD county there are waiters at the restaurants. Paper plates and plastic cups with a bottle of wine?!? ... just an excuse for poor customer service. Our experience was less than mediocre. We were greeted by friendly hostess staff who took our temperature and placed us on the outside patio. It then went downhill. My husband had to take the order for the six of us in a cellar some distance away. He was waiting in the line with 7-8 people ahead of him. The flight of wine was overpriced $20 and the wine came in 5 plastic shot glasses. Not sure if those ones are from this winery or grocery store, my husband brought those to the table but didn’t know. The two pizzas - vegetarian and truffle seemed to be no better than ones that are baked frozen. Caesar salad was decent - we had two large ones for the table. Sunset views were great! The table next to us had ordered a bottle of wine and got it with two plastic cups. Not a wine tasting experience I was hoping for.We will not be back, and at this point, those raving google reviews seem very suspicious.
A winery that has great Italian food to compliment a stunning view all taken in from a shaded patio. This operation is first class and is taking the pandemic seriously. We truly appreciate the safeguards of required reservations, temperature taking and cleaning that is going on.
Beautiful and relaxing place to spend an evening. Beautiful sunset and view. The pizza is great, but we love the lasagna, the breadsticks and the garden salad, even more. There was a saxaphonist a few weeks ago, who was fabulous. We be going back very often.
Open Now - Wine Tasting with a ViewWith the new COVID precautions that are being taken right now, many wineries are no longer offering tastings. Since guests cant belly up to the bar and the tasting room employees cant dispense into the same glass, its created a challenge that has left many local wineries either open only for pick up or offering only by the glass and bottle service.Fortunately, Cordiano has figured out an awesome way to offer a safe and fun tasting atmosphere, complete with beautiful scenery. The winery is currently reservation only with covered patio seating and a stunning view of the surrounding hill country. A tasting flight features five different wines to try, each in single use cups that youre able to pour yourself into your tasting glass (for $20). The setting is relaxed, the wine is great, and they have an awesome menu of pizzas and Italian delights to choose from to pair with your wines. Some favorites (all of these are grown on the winerys estate vineyards):Estate Tempranillo - bright red fruit, super fresh and loaded with cranberry and pink grapefruitEstate Syrah - floral and juicy with a hint of white pepperEstate Zinfandel - rich and plummy with a taste of Christmas spicesDuetto Rosso Red Blend (a 50/50 blend of Syrah and Cabernet) - a delightful mix of blueberry and black raspberryEstate Cabernet Sauvignon - a smooth and silky Cab showing a softer, refined, style
Fantastic wine, pizza and views! Highly recommend going at sunset, its a beautiful place.
I really enjoy the vibe at this winery. Its really low key and the service is outstanding. The food and home grown wines are amazing.
Awesome winery. Up in the hills looking back towards Escondido. Great food a d service
We were referred here by the tasting room @ Orfila & wow did we hit the jackpot! While most of their patrons were just ordering wine & food (they are known for the pizzas), we wanted to do a tasting and were extremely fortunate to meet & talk with the wine maker. We had a great experience and tasted some amazing wines while getting our many questions answered (we were visiting from Oregon’s Willamette Valley). We also met the grandson of the founders who is learning wine making from the master himself! How exciting does that sound to have the next generation of wine makers share his story.Even though they do not make a Chianti, the wine maker “created” a glass for us by blending the wines in front of us!! Amazing!!We then decided it was time to try their pizza, so we did just that and had that out on the patio that over looks the vineyards and the hills of Escondido. Please, please make the journey up the hill to this fabulous winery and experience what together have to offer!!
Amazing views, amazing pizza and amazing wine. The only reason it’s a 4 star rather then a 5 star is due to service. Nothing to do with the pandemic just felt like I was nuisance when I asked very simple questions to the gentleman running the bar.
We enjoyed the pizza, lasagna & pasta dishes. Great place for family with little ones.
Wine, great food an outdoor dining. Good conversation, Its fabulous.a view to die for.
Cordiano Winery is an outstanding place to relax and enjoy some really good wine and food. I would highly recommend this venue for a sunset dinner with friends.
Cordiano is always so welcoming. Picked up the wine club three bottles and can not wait to try them!
My favorite place, Nice view, great wine and very good Pizzas. I visit this place at least once a year.
Incredible view! Fantastic food! Youll feel like youre somewhere in Italia!
Amazing view, good food at reasonable prices, good wine at reasonable prices, a good outfit option during the pandemic.
The food was not that tasty. Very average.A bottle of Zinfandel was over priced at $38.00.Service to bring out your food was slow for a Wednesday evening. The sunset however was amazing.
Too many Yellow Jackets and knats, with no attempt to control. They fly right into your food!
Peaceful setting on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon. Servers were very attentive and accommodating to our needs. Lunch menu was good.
Great food, good wine. Beautiful view.
Good truffle pizza. Fantastic views. Good wine selection.
This place was great, the views are amazing and the food was wonderful. We started with some wine and then the garlic knots which included warm marinara. I could have ate everyone of them myself they were so good. We did the wine tasting and it includes 7 choices. We frank much more than that and I felt like the staff really took care of us. We ended up eating Pizza and spending a good amount of time here. I will be back next time I visit San Diego. This was my favorite winery we went to on the tour. I find winerys so relaxing and peaceful. This one did not disappoint.
Cordiano winery is located in eastern Escondido on a hilltop with expansive views of the Escondido Valley. Its a great place to bring a date on a Summer (October is still Summer in Escondido) evening to eat pizza, drink decent wine and take in the sunset. The winery is family run and for me the entire experience is the warmth of the family and beautiful views. I can sit here for hours. The winery is a short distance from the San Diego Safari Park. Spend the day there and end your perfect day at Cordiano.
Incredible place to spend time with the family and taste great food and wine. Totally recommended!!
Great location and views. Good for lunch dinner and events. The pizza is really good the prices are great. I did not try any of the wines but the people I was with liked the selection. They have heaters in the winter and blankets, if you ask for them. It gets windy so be prepared for that. My eleven year old also liked the food and running around playing bocce ball.
Best view of the day and a must be place to catch the sunset. We came here to celebrate our valentines and it didnt disappoint. We bought a bottle of primitivo to enjoy with our pizza and charcuterie plate. Only downside was you had to get up from your table to order your food and drinks and Id highly suggest putting more lighting out. Once the sun went down we had no light. Maybe hang some lights(tables on the right) or even individual lighting on the tables would be a nice addition. The parking lot was also dark and I was worried about stumbling.
We did a pre-wedding tasting event here and the Cordiano team did a wonderful job executing it! We had 60 people and they figured out a tasting/glass ticket system that allowed everything to run super smoothly. The views are absolutely beautiful and the pizza is super yummy! Great for tasting with your someone special or hosting events!
Nice place. Kid & pet friendly. Food and wine was delicious.
One of the best views Ive seen...
One of the best winery with amazing views. I went with my wife and daughter. We all had a amazing time. Watching the sunset from thr is priceless. The wine and food are also good. One con is the wait time for food and the line for ordering moves very slow. Reserve if your going on a holiday esp during the sunset time.
Food is very good although a little pricey.... but the setting is beautiful and we always have fun here
The food is constantly fresh and delightful, cashiers hands over excellent service. I love how clean it is and mood. Will come back again.
Love it. Wine was tasty, food was great, staff was extremely safe and helpful, and the views are to die for! We will come back many times!
Great food. Decent wine. But all the good seats are reserved but left empty. Been here for two hours and all the prime seats have been empty and everyone is gathered close to the bar. Reservation process needs to be changed
Great views, great food, and of course great wine. The service was quick and great.
Love this place, good vibe, live music, unreal view, wine on top
Good wine and friendly staff. Best part is gorgeous view! Unfortunately, the bathroom turns me off! Whether accurate or not, I think it’s a reflection of the cleanliness of the kitchen. And the bathroom’s mess suggests there’s a dirty kitchen prepping my pizza. :/ Also, need more heat lamps. Watched two tables walk out because they were cold. A little investment in these basic things goes a long way.
these guys. Great place for client and executive meetings.
Sunset views are spectacular. Bread sticks and pizzas are to die for. Syrah is pretty good. Definitely would return.
Great view. Horribly crowded. We waited 45 min for a table and then an hour for pizza. PIZZA. The wine is all blah. The view is great but I would suggest going middle of the day on a weekday.
The food and wine are really good. First time. Great experience. Lovely view.
Food was okay, had a pizza and lasagna. Lasagna wasn’t too cheesy. The seating is outdated and paper plates are not what we expected. The bathrooms are not well kept. And we truly believe the view is the only nice part. Wine was okay.
Amazing and gorgeous Winery with well tended vineyards. Beautiful photo opportunities. Loved the experience and made several new friends. Thanks Cordiano!!!
Very very nice place for food and wine!
One of the first in the valley, one of the best. The view is unmatched and the pizza is delicious
Beauriful view, excellent wine, delicious pizza.
Amazing food and wine, perfect for our Anniversary!
Cordiano Winery is one of the nicest places to eat outdoors (in nice weather) in San Diego County. Youll feel like youve made a little excursion to Tuscany. The truffle pizza is terrific.
Most amazing view in the Bernardo / Escondido Valley !! Lots of spaces to enjoy, relax, dine, play bocce ball. Lots of wine varietals to go with pizza and pasta.
Wonderful drinking wine and watching the sun go down
Such a lovely place to be!
The view is absolutely beautiful for a great sunset it cant be beat. Food is fantastic! Wine, wine & wine!!!! Also beer and sodas. They are unique in they have a FULL Italian menu! Very friendly staff. They have a large building (window around all sides to have terrific views) that is available for large get togethers, full catering available and a great party planner to make all arrangements. We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary there and it was fantastic!
This is my second trip to Cordiano Winery. The winding road leads up to the winery atop of a mountaintop. There are forever views from dining tables outside where you can order their wine at reasonable prices along with great homemade pizzas. Great place to go with groups of people. We were there with all of our east coast relatives relaxing after a wedding the night before.
Love this place. Family friendly great wine and pizza. Must see place.
Worst dining experience ever. I took my parents to your winery for my mom’s birthday and from the beginning it was an unbelievable disappointment. There was no heat in the event room (it was moved indoors due to the weather), and for some reason we had to ask for them to bring out heaters. No one offered up front. We tried to order small salads to start and were told they were “out of small salads but we could get large ones.” How is that even possible to be out of salad but you can get the larger size no problem? The girl just told us we could try but it “would take a really really long time because she knows how they work.” When the two large salads came out, it appeared to be straight out of a bag, like the kind you buy from a grocery store, so I’m not sure how they can be out of small salads. My dad tried ordering lasagna but was told they ran out the day before and didn’t make any more that day.The rest of the meal was a joke and never got any better. They brought my parents’ pasta out and it looked like it was noodles straight out of a box of barilla noodles with canned sauce that no one even attempted to make look homemade. My mom’s pasta came out first. The table was so small we had to bring over a chair to put it on until we were finished with our two large salads (same type as the small by the way, but a larger size and served with chicken; apparently adding chicken saves time in making a salad). We were sitting by the door and the wedding party kept going in and out. Because we were all still eating our salads we asked them to leave the lid for my mom’s dish to keep it warm. The guy just said no and walked off. My mom’s pasta was cold by the time she started eating it. Then dad’s pasta came out, again, equally disappointing and straight from a box at the grocery store. Then my parents finished their meals and my husband’s and my pizzas came out. Yes, a good 20 minutes after my parents got their food. I’m not joking that they were done eating when we were served. They cleared my dad’s plate when the dropped off our food. The pizza was actually pretty good, but not enough to make up for the rest of the evening. Won’t be going back. Happy birthday, Mom.
Very nice.
I love Gordian always have a good time.
Great music, food n wine and the VIEW at sunset.
Good food, wine tasting was a bit stingy, and as mentioned there were tables reserved that were empty the whole time we were there. Reservations need more thought.
Very enjoyable spot to meet up with friends. Views are excellent from the patio, and staff was extremely friendly and attentive. As the sun went down and the wind picked up they brought out heater unasked and made everyone comfortable. Pizza was excellent, as were the breadsticks. Wines were OK, although the reds seems rather young and would be better bought and laid back for a bit.
Great place for food, drink, view, and special times
Nice location
Fantastic! Black truffle pizza was awesome. Sunset is also very nice.
Had a great time! Great food and wine! And a beautiful sunset view.
Amazing wine, views, and pizza
The wine is very good. I bought a bottle of the pinot grigio. They have tastings you can do. Their pizzas are delicious. You can not go wrong with their menu. I wish they had lite plates (cheese fruit, ect) but thats not a deal breaker. Finally the view. It is breathtaking. My god what an optical treat. I know I will be back.
I joined this winery last summer! It took almost 2 weeks for them to return my phone calls. It took almost 3 months to get my wine, which was sent to the wrong address sitting outside in the sun. I have since quit my membership. I just realized they charged my card again. Now, I am still waiting for a call back, it’s been 10 days to no avail have I been contacted. I have written several emails, no response! Please do not sigh up for this wine club, they will screw you!!!!!
STAFF ARE RUDE!!! FOOD IS TERRIBLE AND OVERPRICED. CAN PASTA ITS BETTER!!!LOW QUALITY INGREDIENTS, DO NOT GO HERE, YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED :(
Great wine, pizza, and staff.
This is not what I thought of when I was told that there is some really cool parts of Escondido. Thats all my friend said at the time. Then one day at work I was dispatched to Highland Valley Road and areas I was unfamiliar with. I was in awe of the views on top of the mountains and equally impressed (If not more impressed) with how the people out here live and what they have going on. The land, the homes and how everything is built with efficiency and practicality. The vineyards are used to relax and enjoy each others company. The wine tastings are fun and relaxed, overall a great time. The individuals who operate these have struck gold and they must know it too because they employ great, cheerful and friendly attitudes. I think this is the real Escondido; the hidden valley. With mountains of scenery, peace, serenity and wine from the acres of grape vines that are sprawled out in plain view. The perfect getaway from where ever you call home. All visitors mind your manners and be courteous, please. And thank you
Off the beaten path is a secret hilltop destination for wine, pizza and romantic sunsets.
Had a great time at this winery. Sat on balcony overlooking the magnificent view of the mountains. Our timing was great cause we were there to watch the sunset. Food and wine amazing
Nice staff and good food. We struggled to find wines that we liked. The whites were not good and gave up after 2. The reds were a tough sell until the end. I hope they can improve because it’s a great spot and super convenient, absolutely love supporting locals, however oyyy. We regretted getting the full tasting and would have preferred to cut free after 4.
Overall Id rate this place 3 1/2 stars. Great ambiance and gorgeous view. The wine is so so but the food alone gets 5 stars. Prices are also a bit too high
Delicious pizza. and very kind and friendly owners.for chilly nights, a seat pad is needed. they do provided portable heaters.the laminated menus needs regular washing.
Pros: Amazing views; friendly, intelligent staff, and good tasting wine.Cons: Absurdly overpriced pizza.Additional comments on the pizza... for the price youd expect top of the line pizza, but it was just okay a little greasy and the toppings were nothing special in terms of quality.Again, I dont mind spending top dollar on pizza because I LOVE pizza, but we just expected more for the $18 price tag for a 12 inch.
Very scenic winery with a beautiful view over the valley. Very much enjoyed the black truffle pizza, thought it was a good thin crust. Wines were tasty, not the best Ive ever had, but enjoyable. Great space to enjoy with friends or as a couple.
Great gluten-free pizza! The wine is exceptionally good! On the weekends the entertainment is just so relaxing. I love coming down here just to relax and unwind.
Great views, food and wine.
The new menu is impressive. The view is unforgettable. Wine is very good, although pricey (like all the San Diego wineries).A great place to kick back and spend an afternoon.
Great views and pizza. Wine is decent.
One of the best wineries in town. Beautiful scenery and views, great wine, and great food. Their pizzas are particularly good but Ive heard good things about the pasta as well. Very friendly owners, too. Dog friendly!
Great place to take my beautiful wife on a date, after almost 16 years of marriage. She loved it. Thanks Cordiano.
