The fishing here is always fun..so many places to toss in a line and pull out something you never knew was in there. Me and my buddy pulled out a few rock bass today.. cant wait for trout season! The only reason for 3 stars is because nobody obeys the rules and that can be super annoying for fishing in the summer.. people constantly jumping off the dam and park police are doing nothing about it.. families are bringing their young kids in parts of the waterfall area that have been known to take lives...I guess nobody really cares anymore, the coronavirus has did a number on the brains of some individuals...
Some really great trails start here or go through here.
Absolutely beautiful....A miniature Niagara Falls
The dam itself is so serene and worth the drive. The trails need better signage and markings
Our visit was on Labor Day weekend and parking near the Dam was as always... limited. Parking about half a mile from the dam along the narrow road was available, but hiking down the hill to the Dam and on the return to the car was steep and in traffic. The area around the Dam was quite crowded, but the trail along the Patuxent River was picturesque and a pleasant hike. Horses, bicycles, kayaking, canoeing, and hiking are all available. A special area for unloading and loading paddle type boats is available.
Peaceful and relaxing with a nice view.
Very nice place. Peaceful and not crowded. Great for canoes and boards. Take insect repellent like OFF and use it. There are a lot of bugs around. Otherwise a great place to spend afternoons.
Has places to swim and fish. Can do some canoeing or paddle board. A few trails to explore. Only problem is the lack of parking. Not alot of spaces to park. Lots of sun and shade.
Great place to take kids
Absolutely Ridiculous Parking... Even though theres all kinds of room where parking could be made available, there are only about 15 total parking spots where you can legally park. The gravel parking lot is barricaded off and the rest of the road is lined with no less than 100 Towing Zone signs spaced about 20 feet apart on both shoulders.
Great water and beautiful area. There is some debris from verious floods but great with some sand and some rock shores.
Pleasant all around pleasant.
Quiet and beautiful. Lovely place to launch kayaks.
The area just below the dam is fantastic. The chip bags, broken bottles, empty cans, old tire, food containers, busted folding chair, old clothes, and 1 little pink jelly slipper really spruced that area up. For real, it looks like the perfect place to dump a body...or score some smack...or score some smack while dumping a body. Highly recommend visiting!
Great place to go for a walk.
This place is assume
Can bike, hike, run and swim near the dam. Can fish under dam but cant swim within a few hundred feet of dam. Can also sup and kayak on other side of dam so lots to do at Daniels area but limited parking lot do dont go during prime hours.
Crowd place lot of park police patrolling making sure law was enforce. It was too distracted for me.
Great spot for a hike or a dip
The dam is really nice but the parking is unbearably limited. Have handicap tags and could not find a place to park legally
Greatest Chinese food
Honestly terrible parking but a great spot none the less
Pretty area with moderate ability hiking trails.
Family places
Not enough parking spaces
Very busy area, no swimming allowed near the dam but plenty of people swim there
Fishing, swimming, ruins
