This is my new favorite chill spot! I truly love it! Its got great seating for picnics, a fun popup dining place with some incredible options (that bento box was so good and that bbq place also really good, that they have at the time of this post) ... The place also serves as a reception hall for events. There is a cool playground for kids and that just makes it amazing. You can also get greta angles of the Detroit Skyline from the bridge there! Highly recommend!

Beautiful park/beach with colorful play houses, slides, rope brides/ladders, and xylophones. Theres sand pits for the kids to play in and outdoor seating and stationary grills to use. Wish I had discovered it sooner!

My grandson had a blast. Loves playing in the sand and the equipment they have for the kids. I live taking him there

Great place to view the Detroit river. A Hidden gem!! Valade park is a very relaxing atmosphere. Weather your watching lovers hold hands walking along the Riverwalk or seeing the children play in the beach area. Something for the whole family. Also as a bonus The most authentic tasting BBQ here in the state of Michigan.

This is a beautiful place. The open air food court is awesome and the views are amazing!

Its a great new park just under two years old you can bring the kids their toy stations with in the park bathroom a sushi and barbeque restaurant and their is also a seafood truck the is around through out the week run around jog if you wish do you

It was a beautiful experience I also went to the restaurant Smokey gs barbecue which was delicious

Great Beach with extremely clean bathrooms for children. Also awesome spot to just hang out by the river on the oversized orange beach chairs they have there.

Beautiful, best place I didnt know existed. Check it out. And the bathrooms were really clean. Sand pit and play area, and little restaurant.

The bar area is really cool. Shelves have an old-time industrial look.

Awesome! Now, only if every parking lot was not block off to the people who came to enjoy Atwater Beach and left with a ticket? There was very little parking available in the surrounding area, it is as if city planners do not want anyone except those who live in the immediate area to have the opportunity to enjoy Atwater Beach. Lets close down all the parking areas, then ticket everyone who parks anywhere near Atwater Beach. My issue is this, Atwater Beach is free except when you factor in the price of the parking tickets! So, why not provide paid parking to the people who want to enjoy the Detroit river front. Dont penalize Detroiters with parking tickets for attending an area of Detroit. Charge admission up front & not slap everyone with parking tickets because available parking areas were closed off by the city!

Nice family or date spot. Area to fish. Electric scooters nearby if you want go around the area. Restaurants nearby w/outside seating.

New facility for the family that lets everyone enjoy the riverwalk even more than before. You cannot swim here, which makes the title “beach” a bit of a misnomer, but you can enjoy the views.

Detroit has come up, this is a great place to catch some sun. You can also go down and just have a piece of mind watch the water. Detroit has been home for me and now the river walk is a very special place in my heart. The beach is just the icing on the cake. Take your kids, mom, best friend, or special someone down and make some memories.

The planners did a wonderful job on the design of this park. It is perfect for kids of all ages.

Beautiful new park addition for downtown. Come spring this is going to be a really great spot to bring the family and out of town friends. Walking distance from heart of downtown and the brewery right around the corner.

Peaceful and relaxing on a beautiful day in downtown Detroit Riverwalk

We live close by, and took the our niece and nephew today, and they had a blast. Its 35 degrees and they still loved the sand and all the play houses. The musical stations were super fun for them to play and one had instructions with notes to follow along and play songs. This will be even better when its fully operational with the inside pavillion and the cozy fire boxes that will be great to hang out for adult time with a drink or a glass of wine.

Note: THIS IS NOT OPEN YET. Most of these reviews saying its great are for different areas. This is not going to be open until 2020. It does look like the design will be awesome, but the river front is currently disconnected and this is completely under construction still.

Relaxing spot to walk, play and compose music! Lodge with games and nice views allowed us to enjoy time spent at beach without being in crisp weather the whole time.

Nice place to take the kids

I will like this place to bring children to play in the sand. Unfortunately, there is no water for the beach or to cool off with. You can get food.

In the 1st stage of progress. Nestled between The Aretha Franklin Theatre (Chene Park ) and Atwater. Going to be wonderful.

Everyone please stop rating this park until it is open. Furthermore, don’t post the opening date unless you have reliable information; you are causing people to drive all the way downtown to stare at a park through a chain link fence.

This will be an awesome addition to Detroits waterfront once its complete.

This is in no way a beach.

The boat ride, and food, was great, however, getting there with all the construction, was very bad. Should of had more signs out as to where the Diamond Jack was parked, and where the parking was.

Not finished yet, but appears promising
