Lovely visit to the scarab club to see the Marie Woo exhibit. Very inspiring!
Great atmosphere. The Scarab Club has many levels of intrigue. The host local and upcoming artists and showcase talent on many levels. Great art, beats and on special occasions there is good eats. The second floor really detail artists that have graced the doors of The Scarab. The rafters are full of history. Check it out for yourself.
Loved every moment. Very nice place for art
Really nice gallery to view art and even do and showcase your own very nice staff as well
As a wedding photographer I can highly recommend this venue if youre looking for something out of the ordinary. The garden is beautiful and full of history, while the inside is a beautiful gallery and a very unique space, one of our favorite venues for intimate weddings.
The Scarab Club is a must-see building in Detroit. There is always beautiful art inside, and it rotates frequently. But the building itself is also art... youll have to visit to understand! The employees and members are very kind and welcoming. Check it out!
Beautiful gallery with an amazing history and warm atmosphere
Really cool artists studio. Saw a Blues concert here and it was incredibly cool and a great atmosphere due to the intimate set up
Awesome art gallery with professional and fun staff!!! Historical building that has alot of cool features. Looking where to book your next event? Well look no further!!
Nice and friendly. Enjoyed!
I really loved the show that I attended here. Interesting space with great art.
Nice place to visit. Would definitely go back to view the entire gallery.
Historic Scarab Club is a hidden Gem located behind the DIA open to the public and members. Attended concert with French Composer, Nicolas Bacri discussing his works performed by singers, pianist and strings. Wonderful informative evening. Memorable with so much impresive talent together.
Artists club founded in 1907. Unique historic building with multiple galleries, classes, music events. Has artist studios on the third floor. A must visit!
A great, and historic place. Just the venerable vibrations in the building make it worth a visit.
Prestige gallery in the heart of Detroit. I absolutely love this place.
A hidden Detroit gem. Beautiful space.
Art. Artist club and event venue in a beautiful old building hidden in plain sight. Consider yourself lucky if you get in. A real Detroit bucket list destination. I do wish that they could have a tiny speakeasy inside, but that is only because I am not artistic enough to get in as an artist.
Went to a free event there which was neat. its always intrigued me, always wondered what its like on the inside. i think they hold free art shows from time to time, so its worth seeing if they are if youre heading to the DIA and want to stop in there first.im not really familiar with its history or purpose but id love to know more. the garden and exterior are so cool too
A wonderful gallery and performance space, but its an old building and difficult to get around if you have mobility issues. Mens room on the second floor up a l-o-n-g flight of steps. Steps at every entrance. Good things happen here ... but think twice if youre gimpy.
Its a unique place to visit to most influence artworks at.
Great art gallery to stop by in the area. The art gallery is on the main floor and then the traditional Scarab club is upstairs. Beautiful building with nice and unique art. The display of art was mostly modern art when I visited. I thought it would have been cool if the garden had been open to visitors, but maybe its only for special occasions.
If there is anything like an public atelier in Detroit this is it. It is a bit of a secret source for fine art in Midtown. Their are musical quartets, life drawing classes, and regular exhibitions (both juried and group). Parking is along the parallel streets or in the lot for the DIA. They have membership opporunities but are warm to all visitors. A historical gathering place for Artist through Detroits history.
Nice place to dream about the creative intentions that is wanting to come alive.
This is one of the most beautiful hidden Detroit gems! I have had the privilege of attending dances here over the last 5 years and every single time I go, I receive so many compliments on the pictures I post! They are more than willing to work with different groups to plan private parties and events and are fairly reasonable with their charges. I look forward to returning here soon! The only issue is that if you visit during the day or when the DIA has an event going on, parking can get tricky. Plan ahead!
Great place for any event
Interesting place. Went there for a wedding. Had to move venue inside due to rain. Food was good. Staff did a nice job.
Wonderful small non-profit gallery that supports local artists. Lots of history in this place. Check it the signatures on the rafters on the second floor.
Always wanted to see the inside of this place. It was old, creaky and the staff were friendly. Very interesting upstairs with signatures of some famous people among the beams.
Excellent drum circle at the concert of colors!
An amazing piece of art history with such unique touches. The signatures of previous artists and the dates that they stayed here, gave me the chills! I cant wait to bring my artist son here for a tour!!!
They showcase some really interesting pieces. There was no charge for entry when I stopped by, on my way back to the car after visiting the DIA, they do have a suggested donations of $5. The place is beautiful and is conveniently located between the DIA and the Michigan Science Center. Some of the artwork is not for small children, as it is definitely meant for adults so please be aware of it if you want to bring children.
Great historic spot in the D
Fantastic art exhibition and a beautiful garden
Wow, what a place! The history of the place is incredible! We saw Shakespreare in Detroit there a few times, and it was amazing. :-) they have their own parking, so you dont even have to pay for that.Very nice place, great for theatric events. You should definitely get on their mailing list to see the events.
Has open studio time and great pieces
From 2020
Nothing very exciting but dont go in expecting it to be a lavish art gallery or anything
A Detroit must see experience. The lounge on the second floor has woodwork like a temple and lighting to boot. Look out for open studio days.
One of the coziest galleries in the city. Head to to the second floor and see how many artists signatures you can identify on the beams in the ceiling.
Good food
This often overlooked time capsule has seen more than a few great American artists pass through its doors, and the wood speaks their names. The hallowed halls are beautiful in their own right, with several gorgeous stained glass windows and wall to wall craftsmanship. The main gallery is hit or miss with its curations.
Beautiful example of old Detroit in its hay day. Intimate gallery with beautiful pieces of art
Very friendly staff. Loved exploring this old boys club and seeing the signatures on the rafters. Looked like a gorgeous garden.
Nice place
Wonderful place to gain artistic experience and meet local artists
Theres not enough here to draw me into full participation. I havent been included in an exhibition in over a year, despite my on-going response to their Calls for Work. Nevertheless, im glad theyre always there, and I like their membership policies.
I have had a few of my photographs hang in their gallery for their annual photographic exhibition. Very neat place.
Very Well kept building...
Supporting artists and the arts in Detroit since 1907.
