Historic Detroit church. Parking is tough for handicapped. Use underground city parking. Phone ahead to be sure you can see inside.

I attended this church for many years, through many precious moments of my life, before I moved out of state. And I miss it so much sometimes it just hurts. This is a place where God is definitely present at all times, and you can really feel it. It is sacred. A well cared for building with love and respect for all. I really miss the Ingalls family, too. But thankful the old Anglican traditions are preserved.

Mariners Church of Detroit is a stalwart of tradition, but without the brow beating. Entering the foyer, you are elevated from the hustle and bustle of the street, and once the organ starts and the choir sings you are transported to another dimension altogether. Mariners Church is an independent, non-denominational house of worship, which uses the 1928 Book of Common Prayer.

Beautiful and fascinating historic church right in the heart of Detroit, at the foot of the Renaissance Center and facing Hart Plaza. Easy parking in underground garage (entrance in median of Jefferson Ave.). Sermons tend to be scholarly; politics avoided. Diverse congregation, friendly inclusive atmosphere. World-class organ by D.F. Pilzecker of Toledo, OH. Two highly skilled organists and excellent small professional choral ensemble. Music is traditional Anglican, European and American liturgical standards, traditional hymnal; no pablum, all meat and potatoes. Highly recommended.

This is a terrific bus stop. I needed to get to Windsor and the tunnel bus took me there for $5.

The moment I walked into the church for the first time, over 30 years ago, I sensed the presence of God. It has been my spiritual home ever since.
