A nice place to hangout.
Its really cool to see and learn about the history of it
Lighthouse is awesome although fenced in and lawn not manicured in the slightest. Cant walk up to the fence to get close enough for photos even. The picnic tables are out in the flooded water, you cant read the info signs, the trails you see here on the map are BOTH GONE, and theres a desperate attempt at a makeshift gravel trail (nice and wide) that leads PAST (not up to) the lighthouse, AND RIGHT TO THE WATERS EDGE! It is beautiful. BUT TURN BACK AND GO THE SAME ROUTE TO RETURN. The stingy golf course barricaded the end of the trail around the lake. You CANNOT get through. Lots of cool bugs, flowers, and NOT a lot of ivy - very cleaned out trails. Excellent views the entire way! Lots of runners, bikers, dog walkers, and young adults! Not many kids - no bathrooms way out there. No water either. Be prepared.
Really enjoy the relaxing walk out to the lighthouse. Its not magnificent because it is smaller and it is gated off but it is a truly beautiful art deco lighthouse (which is a rare style). There is free parking. No picnic tables. A light walking trail. We let the kids jump in and swim in the little lake area nearby and they had lots of fun.
One of the nicest areas on Belle Isle. A natural meadow area with a great walking path on east/NE end of the island. A great place to watch the sunrise over Lake St Clair in August and September.
Neat little hike out to here. Keep going past to the water for a great place to relax and watch barges go by.
Interesting place, scenic spot on a wintery day
Not much to see and the trail is a bit overgrown. Would say its just ok.
Not well taken care of. Not a great trail either.
Very scenic walk, beautiful
This lighthouse started my love of Michigan lighthouses. Ive visited many, but this remains a favorite since my childhood and before it was gated. Just spotted in the 2011 movie Kill the Irishman, and was a little more than surprised as this true crime movie is set in Ohio. Well, maybe they were on vacation.
Historical ...impressive carvings..
Simple but intriguing and charming. The walk to the lighthouse and across the lagoon is one of the more underrated charms of Belle Isle. Beautiful view of lake St. Clair from there too!!
All gated up and covered in graffiti. Sad sight.
Mellow hike with views of Detroit River and Lake St Claire.
A jewel of Detroit
Finest lighthouse on Belle Isle.
AMAZING marble lighthouse.
Haunted
Did not know that a lighthouse was on Belle Isle!!
Good surrounding
It is what it is
Its a light house like no other in Detroit
