Very scenic spot. Great for taking pictures or videos!

Just discovered this place very recently! I love taking my motorcycle up to the lookout point after sun down to see our city’s beautiful skyline! It’s a unique spot to show your friends and family.

Clean quiet park. Fabulous view of down town Des Moines.

I found quite a few places to park while driving around the park last week. Each is its open entrance to enjoy the natural features of that area. There were a few nice shelters and one in particular near the overlook appeared very new. It would give whoever is using it a unique view of the Des Moines skyline. Im from Missouri but grew up in Iowa. This was my first drive through the park since it was recommended for a great photo of a sunrise. There rain took away that chance but Im glad I found the park.

Clean. Safe. Great Space To Grill. Clean Restroom. Shady and the grass was cut short.

Great view of downtown! Picnic tables for sitting outside for a meal. Several off road parking spots for stopping. Beautiful park to visit!

Very beautiful and peaceful place to enjoy the outdoors. ..the lookout also gives a great view of downtown. A good friend showed me this spot and its a fav now.

Beautiful Park. Great night to find a picnic table and eat your take out! Several tables at the new overlook area (great addition) w a view of the city. Seen several people walking or riding bikes on the path; up that hill!

Looks like the park is starting to clean up really nice. New overlook of downtown and what looks to be a new lake they are digging out.

Beautiful place! Only downside is there were people walking with there pants down almost. I dont know how with belts on?

I like this park Its right across from where I work. I go there and sit and eat lunch sometimes. I like what theyre doing to it and that new look out that they have. The city skyline is beautiful. They also built that new shelter out there. I would give it five stars if they had playground equipment for the kids.

EMC Overlook, within the park, has a wonderful view of downtown. Theres a 1 way driveway that goes thru the park. Definitely a unique place to take out of town friends and family! Check it out!

I live this tiny little beach and area. Its nice, with actual toilets and easy access to the water. Tourists dont come here because you have to go through an industrial area. Great family place.

I like the history and overlook. Jus didnt feel comfortable to walk around.

Decent little inner city park. They recently finished the construction of the deck which is actually really cool.

Beautiful but lots of moss in water and to many snags but loved watching people get mad about losing ther tackle because of snags lol LMAO great day lol

Have grown up loving this beautiful Park that overlooks the Des Moines Skyline. With the recent Renovations and additions this park will continue to be a place that generations to come will be able to enjoy

Great lookout of the city and Capitol

The new lookout is amazing and what a great spot to fly a drone.

New overlook is cool, but watch out for the lane new divider.

A nice park, and it will be nicer once all the construction is done. As a note, the front entrance is closed, not sure how long it will take for the construction. This park is also a good example of an oak savanna.

Three stars for the number of times I had to push a baby in a stroller on the street. Nice views of the city and nice location near the bike path and River.

Normally this is a very nice park 2 sit & have a picnic or 1 if the best places 2 take a photo over looking down town Des Moines @ night! At the moment there is alot of road construction going on & roads are blocked on 5he north side. So visiting right now isnt the best time. But you can still use the south end of the park for picnics or whatever you like.

MacRae park is a hilly park overlooking downtown Des Moines. A new lookout of the city and new roads will/do provide a smooth and scenic experience away from the business of downtown. Grab a snack and watch the sunset over Des Moines from MacRae park.

Great viewpoint

Great views overlooking downtown. Steep hills for running. Great old trees. Undergoing some repairs on 2019 to become even better.

The new air conditioned enclosed shelter are beautiful. The new photo opt & scenic ober view of Des Moines sky line, make sure and bring your camara

Walker Shelter is wonderful for a not too large of a gathering (40 ish). So easy working with DM Park & Rec and their on-site staff. Beautiful setting. Very clean facility. THANK YOU.

Very cool tennis court, good sized building for parties and very nice outside deck with tables and chairs. Plus nice staff when he had to call to lock up.

I would have to agree sou to fun place to visit to get out and just walk around and have some fun

I have enjoy this park for forty years now. Great improvements too.

The bottom half is still under construction. The top half is a great place to park and stretch your lets.

Currently under construction. The playground is a bit out dated currently. But the shelter is amazing.

We loved the view.

Walked up to the downtown overlook at night. Its under construction right now but we still were able to walk up and hang out for a second. Fantastic view of downtown Des Moines especially at night, and the fact there wasnt anyone else there made it more special.

Beautiful views and large trees. Most of the area is well manicured and the bugs are minimal. Plenty of shade and an incredible view of downtown at the top.

Was here for bridal shower. The place has no signs, so I had no idea which building was what. Very unimpressed.

Impressed with the shelter house. Very nice, plenty of tables & chairs. Very nice, air conditioning worked very well. Easy access.

This is an amazing park with a very cool water fountain area for the kids to run around and play in during the summer heat.

Great time at National Night Out. Good food, friends, and neighbors. Police, firemen, EMTs. Good Music. Weather great.

Love the park, beautiful place to over look the city, have a family get together, go fishing, even ice skating, or play some ice hockey.

Great pictures of the skyline. Just look up their hours before you go as there arent any signs posted.

This is a beautiful Park every so often will take our kids here to eat lunch and run around in the park hate that they took down the playgrounds but other than that great Park and the seats quite uncomfortable especially if youre pregnant
