Nice spot in the city to go back to nature for a short hike. We use it to help the kids adjust to hiking with a weighted pack. Good for Mom and Dad after a lazy winter as well. Only downsides are the mosquitos in season, not the best maintained trail (which could be a good thing for some hikers) and the limited parking could be an issue.
Its not that great
Gem of a park within the city limits of Des Moines! Decent trails to hike and forage.
Love to go on nature walks as a family here.
This preserve has a trail that takes you through dense forest. Its been in better shape. My family and I walk they often. There is a small parking lot that is in kinda of a sketchy neighborhood. We have fun exploring with our kids.
This hidden gem has much potential, but the trails need serious work, trash in the parking lot and illegal atv tresspassers need the publics help to stop and clean up. Check out American Hiking Society this spring for National Trails Day in June to lend a hand!
Ive grown up here all my life and my parents still live here and 32 years and its still beautiful all around
Made our Sunday even better
Nice park with approximately mile long hiking trail. Parking area at the end of E 36th St. Lots of wildlife, hiking and geocaching.
