My dog absolutely loves this place. Most of the time the people are really friendly and the dogs are well behaved and social. My dog likes to play a little rough but it seems that all the people there really understand that and most of the time are all for it!! Its a huge space to her your good run around in and theres even stone shade to sit and watch all the dogs play. Overall....Ive never had a bad experience there.
Max and me love going to this dog park. All of his friends come here. So for the park yes it is mostly sand, however compared to other dog parks this one is very clean, all pet parents are responsible and not only pick up after their own dog but also help keep it clean. While this dog park does have a water fountain in the park it is currently off because of the pandemic. Last year they had them on until late fall. The dogs are all over excited to see their friends and all of the parents are doing a great job of handling the extra energy their pups have.
Wow! I’m visiting Denver from Wisconsin and wanted to let my pup have a dog park day while my friends went to explore downtown. What an amazing experience! This dog park was in a great location and had the most friendly dogs and people! The regulars at the park took time to talk to me and interact with my puppy winni and were extremely welcoming! They bring jugs of water to share and one woman even brought rags for dog slobber because one of her good boys is a drooler ️. I would highly recommend going here and I hope I am in the area again to go back!
One of the better of the dog parks in the metro area! Cleanliness gets a plus. The dogs are fun and the people are super cool!
Lots of different types of dogs and the owners are nice and attentive as well. Nice area with lots of space for inside the city and there is a great walking area around. I brought my pups from MO and they had a blast.
Huge fenced in off leash park. I think the biggest in Denver metro aside from cherry creek. Very well taken care of and clean. Not always poop bags though so bring yours!
Lots of space to run.Ground is sand versus dirt.Several covered benches.
My sweet baby always has a great time theyre playing with friends.
Chill place to take the doggo. Always lots of dogs here especially during yappy hour. Sand makes for easier cleanup and drainage, but Id caution against wearing sandals...
Nice park. Owners could clean up after their pups more.
Awesome placeFriendly peoplePlayful dogs
Not much of a dog park as its more of a pit of sand. Theres a couple big groups of people that come walk the perimeter with their dogs and they dont usually watch over them. If your dog doesnt mind that then its fine. No grass
Great dog park!! Lots of room, very good condition!!!
Love all the different dogs having fun
Great place to take your dog!
Great place for the dogs to run and play
Puppies first off leash park enjoyed it.
No water for dogs and some poop left behind.
Big and open. Very spacious
Absolute favorite dog park around the city due to the size! Perfect for dogs who want to run around on their own or be social
Its open its clean well-managed
Very large dog park and almost always full of other dogs for your pup to play with. The only hard part is that they dont allow children under 12 inside. Which I understand but makes it difficult. Also its almost all sand and dirt so when its wet there are large puddles and some dogs get really muddy. Otherwise great park!
Great open space with some shaded areas.
Theres definitely more dogs than children.people are walking their dogs and spending more time with them instead of their kids. Which is sad these days they love their pets more than they love their.
Sand and gravel, could use some more trees or maybe some grass areas. Most folks pick up their dog poop and there are always tennis balls from the courts next door. There is a water fountain which works most of the time in the spring/summer. Some hyper dogs there probably from the apartments nearby. I have never had a problem with any of the dogs or people there.
This park is so much fun! We always meet friendly owners and dogs here. Its a really big park too, I would say its definitely longer than one football field. Its also sand so even if its rained recently, the dogs dont get all muddy. Everyone does a good job at keeping the poo picked up too.
Beautiful park. It was huge and had enough space for pups and owners. It was not a good fit for me yorkie. I didnt see any small dogs and they didnt have a small dog area. Looks nice for big dogs. What a terrific dog park for this area in Denver! Its huge and has a little bit of everything. There are patches of grass as well as semi mature trees that provide shade in the summer months.
One of my favorite Denver dog parks. Its large (for a city dog park), well maintained, popular, but with enough room to get some space if you need it. Running water during the warmer months, plenty of parking, in a nice neighborhood, some shady spots, and also near some nice parks and walking paths. The only thing I wish they had was some extra benches sprinkled about.
Great park except some owners don’t keep a close eye on their dogs...
Dogs seem to b having a great time running around. Plenty of room for them to exercise safely!
My girls love this place. Lots of fun sand. Take a towel to make sure they dont track it back home.
Its nice big n wide for big dogs to run...little dogs have fun too.
My dog seems to enjoy this dog park. It’s conveniently located and there are always other dogs to play with which is good for a social dog like mine. However, since it’s more crowded and gets a lot of traffic you will be dealing with many different types of dog/owner personalities so keep that in mind. Most people are cool, some aren’t (some crazy lady yelled really loudly for my dog to stop barking once after it barked just a couple of times excitedly - it’s a dog park! If you want quiet go to the park). So yes, I’ve probably had the most negative experiences with other dog owners and dogs here but I know it’s because this is a highly trafficked dog park. Still we’ve had more positive experiences than negative overall. It’s also not the most aesthetically pleasing dog park, just sand, but it is big. This isnt my favorite dog park but my dog likes playing here, there’s always dogs here, and it is conveniently located.
Great open size dog park for that area. Did love the multiple entrances to the park.Plenty of street parking.Does have water fountains. The only reason Im not giving it a 5 would be for not have a separate area for smaller dogs and larger dogs like other parks.Overall great park, will visit again.
Awesome place to bring your dog, all the people are super nice, and the doggos are even nicer!
Back in 2013/2014 this park didn’t have the best reviews. It has improved quite a bit in the last year. My new dog enjoys this one more than Lowry because of the grass, trees and regulars that she has gotten to know.People frequently bring water for the dishes and pick up after other dogs when some owners are lazy or miss it. Pay it forward :)
Absolutely love this park!My pup and I usually go twice a day - he’s always happy and worn out. It’s important for humans to keep in mind it’s a DOG park. Normal dog behavior can be unsettling at first and sometimes it’s hard to gauge the line between having fun and being testy. Pay attention to your pup, if you’re concerned at all, withdraw to the other end of the park (it’s certainly big enough). Yes, sometimes dogs scuffle and humans have to intervene and yes, there are a rare few that could use a more “in-tune” human to realize their pup isn’t well suited to the park but on the whole - this park is a great place to spend an hour. This is a community park and the regulars all put some time and energy into helping maintain the grounds and keeping it a fun place to be. Sure, there’s the occasional random poop that got missed but, again, the regulars try to keep their poop karma in good standing (miss a poo, pick up another one even if it’s not your dogs). The regulars also help keep an eye on the pups...I’ve intervened a few times when pups I didn’t know were getting a little too excited. We keep an eye on our dogs and help keep an eye out for yours as well. The park does have rules about children under 12 (with good reason), food in the park, and intact pups. Children under 12 are small enough to be frightened by, intimidated by and more prone to accidental injury - they have no place in a park where dogs as tall as the child (or dramatically outweighing the child are running free). Food needs to be kept out... you really want 5+ food motivated dogs pestering you? Intact pups... well hormones and pheromones are NEVER a good mix.If you don’t want your pup to get rolled in the dirt, humped, nipped, barked at or if you can’t stand to see your fur baby with the occasional scab no dog park is going to be right for you. Dogs play rougher than most people imagine and it’s OK for the odd flesh wound to happen.Your pup will tell you if they are having fun or if they want to go snuggle on the couch instead. It’s important to remember you are at the park for your dog - the dog park is not for humans (it’s in the name). If you’re trying to socialize your dog (or have smaller dogs), try to come before 9AM (during the warmer months) or after 6PM. That’s when most of the well socialized regulars are at the park. Otherwise it’s the after work/weekend warriors that bring their pent up dogs to the park - high energy, more potential for conflict. You’re gonna have a bad time.If you come to the park knowing it’s for your dog (not you), keeping in mind it’s a community park (we all pitch in - picking up poop and bringing water when the fountains are off), and keeping an eye on the pups - this park really can’t be beat!
Its a giant sand box so our pup was very dirty after playing here. Be cautious of sand temps on hot days.
I don’t love sand, nor do my dogs. I don’t really understand why Denver insists on covering all the dog parks in sand. Why not reuse fallen trees? Make your own mulch! It’s a good way to recycle your dead and fallen trees and allows any standing water to not make mud.
Awesome dog park. Its really big and there are always tons of dogs here so its a great place to socialize your dog. With how big it is I think they should add some kind of equipment for the dogs. Im not sure what that would be but maybe stuff for the dogs to play with or climb on and what not, that would make this place perfect.
This is a great place to let my dog run freely!
Another commenter said that he was upset that people at this park spend more time with their pets than their children. Yes, that is true. But it doesn’t mean we ignore our children. They need exercise as much as the three dogs I “own” and love. (I mean who rescued who, amirite? Plus I would say while my dogs are my best friends and soulmates whom I couldn’t possibly “own,” and I of course do not “own” any of my children, I have SOLD several children (sometimes they ugly!) Look, I walk my children three times a day. We all take a chance to enjoy this park for playing fetch or just having a chance for them to wrestle with other children. Obviously I prefer to walk my dogs here, but if I leave the children alone in the house for too long they try to break out of their cages. Pro-Tip: some of the other kids around here are pretty big, so make sure you have a them in a strong harness with a strong leash. If they have learned to talk, please make sure that you discourage their use of swear-words and minimize their contact with park attendants, “helpful” strangers, or police officers park or attempts to persuade other — I have caught my oldest son MULTIPLE TIMES in the middle of pleading to some rando that he dial 911 so that he can “be freed.” His muzzle garbles his words pretty effectively and he usually lays down quietly after a few shocks from the stun collar. It is a HUGE ANNOYANCE though because it means I have to calm the strange down and convince him to come with me back to the compound so that I can show him why I am “not a sadistic lunatic,” then I have to find my bat or a crowbar, clean up the mess on the floor, and dump the body somewhere out by Limon. At least when my dogs talk only I can hear them. ️
This park is unique in that it is all sand, but I think it makes it more clean up friendly. They also have water bowls put, we always go grab a $1.00 gallon of water from the grocery store before we go to keep the dogs hydrated. It can get busy here but people are pretty good about keeping an eye on their dogs and I have yet to run into an unfriendly dog or dog owner!
My dog (medium size) was attacked by another dog after being there for less than 2 minutes. The other dog was biting down on my dogs neck, while the owner watched and encouraged the behavior (“yeah! Get her!” Thinking it was appropriate play). I was trying to separate the dogs but the dog had such a hold on my dogs neck that if I pulled them off I was worried it’d cause more harm. Eventually, the owner came over to leash their dog but did not leave the park. We were forced to leave and the aggressive dog stayed to play. Please, if your dog has aggressive tendencies do not bring them to a dog park or if you do please watch carefully and remove them if they are behaving dangerously.
A very favorite place for my dog. Pleasant group of people with their dogs. Usually things go well and everyone gets along. Plenty of street parking and some parking lot parking.
It is simple but it works lots of dog and space.
Busy even on a cold day
Love this dog park. Its big, few muddy spots, and attracts mostly friendly people and playful pups. Theres not a lot of shade so keep that in mind for warmer days. They have plenty of trash bins for your pups poo and theres ample street parking.
Very fun and LOTS of space. My dog could run and run and she had so much fun! Highly recommend. Wear shoes that are okay to get dirty. The whole place is sand but dogs like to dig so its perfect.
A huge park for the dogs to run in. Can get a bit crazy with how many dogs show up, But theres normally plenty of space. There is water near one of the gates, but its easy to miss. The ground is sand/dirt, so easier on the Paws then the gravel at some other parks in the area.Plenty of easy parking and there tennis courts next door.
Great location, open space. Never a problem. I always recommend to bring water too share
Dont know what Id do without this dog park. Most visitors there are nice but there are always a few, usually the weekenders, who dont pick up or watch their dogs. Still, its a much needed facility in this dog-crazy area.
Lots of room for dogs to run around. Mostly sand, and a few shade trees
Love this place! It is huge and amazingly clean. There is alot of dogs and people during the sunny days. Younger kids are not allowed so keep that in mind.
I love how big this park is! Lots of space to run, and a good walk for me. Easy to access with 3 entries. Lots of parking. And also has a water fountain for dogs. Has sand, some vegetation, and trees good for shade.
Large open park with plenty of room for dogs to run, also very clean. Great place to take your dogs.
Nice big dog park! As anywhere some of the owners could be more intelligent, but you cant blame the park for that. Im very glad to have a dog park close by
Great place to take your dog.
This is such a nice big dog park. It gets very muddy after a rain or when the snow is melting so be prepared to make it a bath day! Theres usually a lot of dogs here, so great for socializing, but its big enough to get away from them if your dog is a little more timid. One negative about this place is Ive seen a lot of fights and dogs with high prey drive being unsupervised. Since the place is so big there are a lot of irresponsible owners not watching their dogs at all. So just be careful!
I always stop here when I can. I really like the wide open space thats all fenced off. Being an off leash park, its nice to let the pups run full speed and not have to worry about traffic or the dog running off.
Great park with nice people and very social dogs. The only think keeping it as 5 star is that there is no water source.
Good size park that is fairly well maintained. It’s mostly dirt but has grassy areas, trees, and benches. Multiple doggy bag stands and a water fountain for people and pets. Gets pretty busy during peak times so o tend to go earlier or later.
If this is the one at Monaco and Monteview it’s excellent. We call it the “beach” perfect sand. Our greyhound likes it best. The other dogs are compatible. After rain the sand is even better.
Great dog park with plenty of space and plenty of people. Everyone there is always so friendly and their is plenty of water bowls for all the dogs. The ground is sand that makes it easy to pick up droppings as well as fun and safe for your dogs to run, play and tumble all over.
One of the best dog parks Ive been to. Its large, all sand, no mud, easy parking, reasonably clean.Just remember to bring your own bags.
Dogs love it here. Great to mingle with dog lovers
Nice size space. Lots of barking dogs
Big sand filled area for the dogs to interact.
My dogs love this place. I wish there was more shade. Its basically just gravel/sand with a few benches and a few spots with trees. It gets way too hot for the dogs feet in the summer and way too muddy in the winter. But all in all its a good place.
Smurf had a blast. Please fix your water fountains.
This is my go to place on that side of town . The park is typically pretty clean and most people are decent dog owners and I haven’t witnessed too many issues . Place is super spacious and your dog can get space to run and not feel crowded, even on a busy day
Plenty of space to run and play! Doggo had a blast!
Huge area, great for all kinds of dogs, my little dog has never had a problem here. It can get muddy when it rains or snows so best to visit on a nice day.
This is a great larger off-leash park. Its pretty long so they have plenty of space and theres ample opportunity to find an area where your dog feels comfortable.Theres a number of trails to access on foot and decent parking if youre coming from further out.
So I have mixed feelings about this it is a great place for dogs but the sand has become so gross we no longer go there. We enjoyed it for years but the amount of pet waste mixed in with sand is unhealthy. I am not sure why people can not clean up after their dogs, it is not difficult. With only a few fenced in dog parks it is a shame that people do not appreciate it and maintain it.
Its an amazing place to bring your dogs and have them socialize with other dogs! I sure do bring my dog often here so he can play around and have fun! I would recommend.
Great park! Huge and not owners take responsibility for their dogs.
Great Park I wish water were a bit more accessible and the dog owners will be responsible and pick up after their dog leavings
Lots of well behaved dogs with lots of space, and nice people. The city takes good care of it
This was an all sand dog park. My little dogs had a hard time maneuvering around. Ok for big dogs but little dogs struggle
This is by far the biggest and best dog park I have found in Denver. We have been taking our little goldendoodle puppy here to get used to other dogs and learn how to play. I can say I’m completely blown away by how clean and responsible this dog park is. George gets excited and can’t wait to get out of the car when we pull up!
Its just a big sand lot. Nice open space for your dog to run. Make sure to bring water after October because the city turns the water so the pipes wont freeze.
Big. Large area. sandy so you can go there and not worry about mud all over your dogVery friendly folk
Nice and big. Always lots of dogs. The parking lot is small, but there is lots of street parking. Always friendly
Great dog park, but do wish it had grass instead of sand. It is really gross.
Always a good group of dogs and dog people.
Ive been going to Stapleton Dog Park for 6 years. For me its one of the more Friendlier dog parks in Denver area.
