First time to the Dallas location this weekend. Super small and congested venue. I wouldn’t recommend the food. The chip trio guacamole was weird, slimy, green goo and the chips were so salty. Just drink the house down. Staff was super cool and friendly..which is what I really appreciate FW location is SO much better though. Step up your game Dallas!
The comedy show was AWESOME! The only downside is making sure your servers dont forget the customers food.
2 drink policy is ridiculous, the food and drinks are overpriced and horrible. Why dont they charge more for the ticket instead and give more money to the artist?
They have 3 locations but I’ve never been to the Arlington one but this location is great has plenty of room for some good ole amateur comedy we have a blast every time we go they have a two item minimum but you’ll want a drink or two maybe a snack I had the bbq brisket sliders and it’s not bad at all don’t forget to fill out the little papers on the table to get free tickets.
Nice club in a great location! Easy parking, lots of good food around. I wish the club would organize the crowd a bit more once they get inside. After standing in line outside, you then must stand in line INSIDE. This isn’t a problem, however, until latecomers come in and (due to the small space) cut and push in line of the people already waiting a half hour. This could be remedied with a physical divider and bouncers directing people what to do. It kind of ruins the experience when you have to fight with rude people before a good show.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve gone a few times :) it’s not a bad place to go because at the end of the show you’ll have some great moments of laughter. However, the food is bad, the drinks are not great - mostly because they “seem” pre-made in batches to accommodate the crowd. Plus there’s a 2 item of drinks/food combo per person. If they improved the quality I’d be okei with it. Will I go again? Yes, they do bring in some funny headliners. Will I complain about the quality of food -yep! Great seat prices though! Worth the VIP seating if you want a good seat before the crowd come suddenly through the door, but really, it’s not a large venue so any seat probably isn’t too bad :)
Had a great time here. The comedian was pretty funny and there were snacks and food wait staff
They will not honor their own birthday package they have advised for my wife’s birthday. They told me it was a “special event” and they couldn’t and wouldn’t honor this package. On the advertisement it does not state anything about special events.
Great place for a date night or bring your friends! I always enjoy a comedy night. Each time instructions were verbally told in a very informative way, comedy shows must seat and get all situated which is common sense so if you show up a few minutes before the show that’s on you! :) always a great time. Will always go back!
Didn’t care too much for the management. Acts were just ok. Been to much better.
Went to the show last night Rene was awesome ! This is not our first time there just the first time we are Disgusted by the way we were treated !!! We did encounter what I can only think was discrimination !! My table would whisper something An the door guy would tell us something, we would laugh an clap an he made it a point to walk over An tell us something when the table next to us was loud An shouting at the comedian but nothing was said !! Complained to management not even an apology !! Im just in shock this is how they treat people when my table spent well over $300 we went to celebrate a birthday party there will not go back !!!
Management was rude, and very short tempered. Will not be coming back to this establishment again. You can clearly see that this has been going on for a while as other reviews state the same thing. Very unprofessional. Just look at past reviews and all have the same thing in common a terrible manager.
Seats are incredibly uncomfortable and the show began late by 45 minutes to an hour. The staff did nothing to inform the crowd of the delay. There were several opportunities to communicate this information including the front check-in, using the stage, or even having the servers informing the tables. We arrived shortly after the doors opened, and ended up sitting in a halfway dark room, facing an empty stage for an hour and half, not getting up to move in fear of losing our spots or the show starting. The menu isn’t extensive when it comes to snack options, pretty much chips and dip, nachos, 2 different kind of sliders, hummus, and cheesecake. Bottled beer is almost the price of the mixed drinks. While this is a great location and venue however, a lot can be done to elevate customer relations and experience.
Great place. Cool environment. Great service. Generous pours. Easy street parking. Dont bother to pay hotel rates. Tons of meters. Funny show amazing host lady.
I love this place. Ive seen a lot of great comedians here over the years.
My husband and I came out tonight to Hyenas for the first time. We purchased tickets weeks ago and when we arrived, (as suggested by the club at 6:30pm) we were forced to stay outside because we did not buy preferred tickets. Furthermore, they said if we paid an extra $20, would could buy preferred tickets and go in. I dont appreciate being treated this way and I will not be back
Had a great time. Bought tickets online paid an extra couple of bucks to be seated first and got right up front. Pretty much the definition of what a comedy club is supposed to be.
Had a blast!
This place has the “Worst” customer service I’ve ever experienced. The waitress was rude and the manager was even more rude. We had VIP tickets and was threatened to leave over a discrepancy with the waitress who was very rude to our table. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone at all. The drinks and food are over priced and not good st all. This places a 2 items minimum person person inside the venue. Let’s not forget the 15% gratuity shameful. The comedians were awesome but the service was truly awful.
Loved Pauly Shore...sat right in front of stage!!
The worst customer service in 2020. Bought general admission tickets and upon arrival, the line were split from general admin to preferred tickets..doors opened at 6:30p .. preferred member went in 1st as they should and they did not let general admission tickets in the building AT ALL..THE GUY AT THE FRONT KEPT coming outside asking new comers in the line if they were preferred..then came back outside and said for an additional $20 you can buy preferred tickets. ITS BAD ENOUGH THAT THE SHOW WAS DOUBLE BOOKED AND TWO SHOWS WERE COMBINED INTO ONE SHOW. Its 6:50p and we are still not in the building. I NEED TO BE REIMBURSED FOR MY TICKETS . I ARRIVED AT 6:00 AND ITS NOW 6:55 AND IM STILL OUTSIDE!!!!
If I could give this place zero stars I would. I recently visited the location on Mocking bird in Dallas,Tx the manager was HORRIBLE. Very rude and short with people and so was the bartender we asked for prices of drinks and she didn’t want to tell us. Both were rude I WOULDNT RECOMMEND.
Really had a fun time & enjoyed most of the comedians I saw. Please find an alternative way to clear people once youve checked IDs. Drawing on peoples skin with a Sharpie permanent marker is not a good way to go about it.
Overall, we had a decent time at Hyenas Comedy Nightclub. The show started on time. We bought tix via Group on - so Im sure that played a factor on the seating options. The back seating layout is horrible. The seats are not staggered. You will have a hard time viewing the stage because the person sitting in front of you basically blocks your view.I guess thats why there are two tvs in the back. =P
This is a small place but it is a good place has a bar up front where you can have a beer or drink before they let you in in to where the comedians perform. Its a small venue but its nice place to go relax and have some laughs with all the crazy things they comedians say when they are performing. They do give some free tickets from time to time but there is a 2 drink minimum when your doing that. The time I was there the comedians were really good.
Hyena Comedy Club is located on the second floor of an open air mall. The comedy club was great. Nice ambiance. Good drinks.
First time here very tight seating OMG . Here to see Country Wayne who is so funny so really didnt mind seats . Small tables and a menu of things to eat while watching the show . Hope to come back and see other shows soon .. Thanks for a great evening.
Came here awhile back with my sister & parents to see some stand ups. They were pretty funny. It’s small but not to bad . Wasn’t crowded
Fun night out and good service
I’m a cyclist doing my best to help the environment every day on my commute. I had stopped at the Dart Mockingbird Station and had to use the bathroom very urgently. I went inside and asked if could use their restroom as it was urgent and they refused me, I even offered to pay the five bucks but they kicked me out the door. Thanks for helping another human being
Excellent place to do something different. Food is not so tasty but drinks are cheap. Make sure to order a couple drinks at a time, they take forever!
Pro tip: raise your ticket prices and pay your waitstaff more rather then compel your customers to buy something they dont want.
I’ve been here twice now and can say it’s the perfect date night out or ladies night etc. comedians will always vary but overall they know what they’re doing here!
First time at this place, had a great overall experience. Clean, staff was great, and well organized seating for a sold out show. Was concerned about the two drink minimum because I dont drink alcohol. Ordered two Cokes for 7 bucks, thats cool with me, thats how these clubs make money. Will definitely be back.
I told myself I wasn’t going to write a review on here but after several months I’m still fuming over our experience here. My husband and I came here for a date night. At the time I was pregnant, so I couldn’t drink but we both love stand up comedy. When we got there, we waited for about an hour while standing. This sucked since I was pregnant. My husband purchased a cocktail and a bottle of water at the bar while we waited. Finally we went inside the venue and were told that we each had to purchase two items. Since we had already purchased two items at the bar, we were ok with ordering another drink and bottle of water inside. In the middle of the show, our waitress asked us if we wanted anything else and we declined. She insisted that we each had to purchase one more item. We told her we ordered two other items out in the lobby but apparently that does not count towards the two item minimum per person. It has to be purchased inside the venue. We did not want to order food because we had just eaten before the show. They were trying to force us to buy something we didn’t want and were not intending on consuming...what a waste. Other folks at our table said they were planning on buying a third round of drinks and offered to put it towards our minimum. We told the waitress this and she came back with a security guard who told us we had to leave! Once in the lobby, we asked to speak to a manager and they said we could not. Our choices were to leave or they would call the police! Not wishing for conflict, we ended up leaving. Although in retrospect, we should have let them call the police because we did nothing wrong. We have not returned since nor will we ever. A shame since we love stand up comedy so much.
I came there to support a friend that works there and was performing. It was my first time visiting and have never been so rudely treated and spoken to by one of the staffers (Jacob- the manager) that works there. I hope this is not how they regularly treat there patrons. Very disappointed. Do better and working on customer service. Let’s just hope Jacob was just having a bad day and that he is not always so rude when speaking to customers and managing the establishment.
Unfortunately we were unable to attend a show here... I received an email with complimentary tickets. I called the number provided and gave the access code to reserve my tickets. The representative stated I just needed to tell the people at the door my first and last name...My group of 10 showed up 10 minutes before showtime and we were turned away. The host said the show was sold out for everyone, even if you had a reservation ...Of course this raised many questions, How do you sale tickets that are already reserved? Why didnt the reps say you will need to be present one hour before showtime? Where on the reservations does it say this? Anyhow, we enjoyed our night elsewhere and wont be doing this again, very bad for business and poor communication on their part.
Excellent, they had D.Edwards constant comical laughter
I Had a great time with my wife. We got a seat right up front. The comics (Michael Suarez and Chris Kid Reid) had us laughing the entire time. As did their opener... Sorry I cant remember his name. The service was very prompt and better than I received at most higher end restaraunts. Food was alright. Only major draw back was venue size. It was a tight fit. Overall a great place to go and get some laughs. Id particularly like to see Michael next time he comes to Dallas.
Had my birthday celebration here with some friends and my man and we had a blast!!
Great place to catch a show
Getting a good comedian makes all the difference in the world, which is subjective, so this review is based on the facility, staff and food and beverage only. The lobby/bar area is terrible, maybe 4 tables with a few chairs each. So if you are wanting to sit and relax with some drinks before the show, get there very early or go somewhere else. The drinks are overpriced anyway, as mentioned in other reviews, and there is a 2 drink minimum inside the venue, which any drinks you get outside in the bar area before the show dont count towards, so whats the point? Overpriced, uncomfortable seating, dont count towards the minimum and expensive?! No thanks. The food is not anything to brag about either, pretty sure its all frozen and microwavable food. The staff was all very friendly though, we have no complaints about anyone who was working, so thats worth an extra star instead of just 1. The tables are small, chairs are cramped to, so focus on the show, hopefully you very a good one (we did), get drinks and food somewhere else before hand and maybe youll forget about all the negatives and have a good time.
Comedians are always great. The later show is always the best. You cant not laugh at a comedy club. Their food is not good and over-priced but this is how they make most of their money. Their drinks are good however.
The comedians they had last night were great but I would never recommend this place to anyone because of the poor Customer service the show started at 8 PM we ordered drinks it took 20 minutes to get those we ordered food at 8:10pm and never received it we were told by our waitstaff that they “ran out of food” i’ll never go back to this place ever again ! for comedy I’ll stick to the improv In Addison or Arlington Tx.
Nice place. It was clean, with good view/sound. Staff was nice and fast drink service. Also, its in a mall so theres plenty of food/drink options before or after a show.
Had a blast. Not something I usually do but will do again.
Comedy is great! Drinks suck!!!!! I ordered a Mai Tai and my friend ordered a Daiquiri-neither drink contained any alcohol! We did inform our server and she returned with a lie from management that our drinks do have double shots. My advice would be to order beer or a straight shot- no mixed drinks because you will be cheated!!!!
Received free tickets to a show and saw Quin Dahle, hilarious guy! Loved this place and will return! Great comedy shows!
I tend to always win tickets to shows. I have been several times and only once had a boring comedian. All other times the shows have been fun. Great location, good service and the prices for the drinks and food are good. The only issue is the seating. The tables are REALLY small and the seats become uncomfortable however if you are having fun this will only be a fraction of your opinion when you attend a show.
Tickets and drinks were affordable.Seating was a bit tight but wait staff was decent. Lucked out and had good comedians. Will definitely try again.
My wife and I went to hyenas last night 8-13-2014, or at least we tried to for my wifes Birthday. We noticed the Dallas Police leaving as we went up the stairs. This was our first clue something might be wrong. As we walked near the front door we could not even make it 20 from the front door as there was so much cigarette smoke and other overwhelming throat choking clouds in the air and the walkway, we could not breath. The overwhelming stench was really really bad. We are very disappointing that Hyenas allows this kind of activity at their comedy club. Hyenas will not get any upscale patrons and in this economy businesses need the patrons right now more than ever. My wife had trouble breathing at work the next day due to this exposure. If you are a heavy smoker that doesnt mind smelling like an ashtray then Hyenas is for you. If you enjoy a nice clean well looked after comedy club, Hyenas is not for you or us. Sorry Hyenas we can not come back when so many other places need the business and are trying very hard to keep their patrons. The under cover TV show Mystery Diners should do their next undercover story on your club.
2 drink minimum. Its hit or miss with the comedy but its usually a decent to pleasurable night. They serve bar food which is also decent.
If I could give zero stars I would. It was a terrible experience from the start. I have been one other time and had a okay experience. I signed up for free tickets so I took a friend out for her birthday. When I called to set up my tickets the guy on the phone was rude when I asked questions regarding the way the tickets worked He acted like I was bothering him by asking questions. ***RED FLAG***My group arrived early as suggested by the man on the phone. No bartender for 30 min. when she finally arrived we ordered a couple of drink due to the fact that my husband and I remembered getting service inside was slim to none. While entering my husband asked if we could have a specific table and the manager says how about.... NO! To us simple explanation would have sufficed... after this the two drink minimum became a problem. I heard the staff say things about my group that should NEVER be said about a customer. NEVER in all of my years of working with the public have I encountered worse service from an establishment. I did not come across a single pleasant worker in the building! Everyone acted like they didnt want to be there. If you do not enjoy your job find somewhere else to work! I would NEVER suggest this place to ANYONE. Comics please find another place to do your show! And potential paying customers dont waist your time or money in an establishment that would be willing to get into a physical altercation with paying customers. *Side note THE FOOD AND DRINKS ARE TERRIBLE!* you couldnt pay me to come back!
We planned a company outing to the Dallas Hyenas this past Saturday night on July 15th. They took great care of our group, made sure it all went smoothly for us and the owner was amazing when I spoke with him as well! Thank you!
Hyenas is a great place to take friends or a date! Ive been about 5 times and I will be back for more laughs! The food isnt the greatest but it doesnt matter, the people here make up for it! I laughed so hard at one point there was no sound coming out. Check it out!
Seriously better than clubbing in Dallas!
Fun place to bring friends. Sign up for their mailing list and get free tickets sent to you pretty often. Love that Thursdays are free
Reasonably price food and drinks ..get there early guarentee a seat not standing great location for other activities..dart access
I have cancer and I have been constantly crying and needing cheering up. My boyfriend which is a saint has scoliosis. The comedian called him a hunchback as he was walking out. He loves me so much he just shaved his head to make me feel better. Im so ashamed of this place. I could not imagine this place not calling and making a personal apology. I will be following up. To say the least I couldnt imagine more pain brought on by this place.
Easy and free parking right across the street, good mixed drinks and a chill atmosphere. Chris Porter was an excellent comedian as well.
As I was waiting in a slow moving line to get in, a very normal man came in and with a clear need to use the restroom. The man at the counter was very rude about saying no.... Then these guys were not even funny. Better to stay at home watching netflix than these rude waste of talents....
Drove down from OKC for a sold out Doug Benson matinee show. Was a bit worried because the club has a stipulation about if a show is sold out and you dontt arrive 30 minutes prior to showtime, they can sell your tickets. Never heard of this before. Naturally, this got us a bit panicked as we ran into Dallas traffic and then had a bit of trouble finding the club but we made it with 15 minutes to spare.Seemed like a pretty nice place. It was clean, with good view/sound. Staff was nice and fast drink service. Also, its in a mall so theres plenty of food/drink options before or after a show.
Nice place but even after purchasing tickets they make u buy at least two items per person...
The show was actually really funny but the guy that works there kept telling us we were loud when we where actually laughing at the comedian. we where as loud as the crowd and everyone, the guy came to our group kept saying what we did wrong. we were visiting from fort worth and the one there is actually better. we never have this problem.
We somehow always get free ticks! Make sure and sign up on their email list and you can too! When you go to free comedy you have to expect a couple hits and misses. Overall the experience has been positive and the staff is always attentive.
Comedy is great. But the service is really slow. 2 drinks required but are waitress didnt come back till the show was Almost over even though we told her with 1st round to go ahead & repeat order.
Great time! Awesome staff
Gratuity included on bar tabs.Signed up & got free tickets and had a great time. $4.75 drafts - wife and I drank like fish and got out of there for under $50.Great time.
Me and my friend wanted to attend a comedy club for the first time. Id seen Chris Franjola on Chelsea Lately and was happy that he was preforming in Dallas. For starters, seating is terrible. Were seated shoulder to shoulder, and sharing a table with one other group. Then security sucked because they allowed one woman to walk on stage, and two other women to consistently heckle the performers. My personal opinion, two-item minimum per person purchase should be scrubbed because the food, drinks, and service was horrible. The comedians was good but the everything else is the main reason I say avoid this place. All-in-all, your money will be better spent somewhere else.
We always laugh and have a good time. After all, laughter is great medicine!
No where on the website nor via booking was I told about the asinine, archaic sleeves required for men policy. (Every guy in attendance had on worn tshirts; its not a classy place.) I was let into the venue wearing a tank & then berated by the GM, Raymond. After putting on a jacket, was told by him its common sense that guys dont wear tanks. All of this happening at the front bar. Ive never felt so belittled or discriminated against. As a gay male, having to lesson to an attempted dress etiquette lesson was humiliating and the GMs tone was clear what he thought of lesser men. His tone and handling of the situation is what the review is about; the policy itself is stupid but at their discretion. They should post it, if theyre going to enforce it. Awful culture; I do not recommend supporting this type of attitude.
Had a really fun time here. The waitstaff was friendly, the restrooms were clean, and drinks were good.
I feel like the staff at the front was very unorganized it almost seemed like this was there first time opening. Not the best experience. I found that the wait staff was rude and slow. The tables that we sat at were meant for 2 people but for some reason they were set up for 4 people. Was not happy about having to share such a tiny table with 2 strangers. The comedians really kept you laughing the entire time which was great . I think the actual workers need to step it up.
Came for a rare night out with my husband. Called in advance to make reservations and the manager offered our tickets free because he is retired military. However, the bait and switch came once we walked through the door. Our seats were not free and there was an upgrade charge for preferred seating which means you have a small table pushed flush with the stage.Drink prices were outrageous and they waited until the last minute to seat. Our preferred table was against the stage with four chairs. The waitress told us we had to allow two strangers to sit shoulder-to-shoulder with us. They corralled us into this place like cattle. It was not comfortable at all.Luckily our babysitter called us just as the rude waitress was taking our order and bailed us out of what was the absolute WORST comedy club experience weve ever had...and we have been to many comedy clubs across the nation.I am disappointed with this place and will not return. Id rather go back to the Funny Bone in Baton Rouge or Bossier City than this place.
It was our 1st time last friday and it was amazing and i went back the following friday and it was better i dont know me and my husband loves this place its going to be our new hangout for date night
Funny, great experience every time. Not too fond of the two item per person minimum but considering that they give away free tickets all the time. Its not a bad deal at all.
Racists. If youre white youll enjoy your time there
Great place for a date night. Overall its clean, the parking is easy, and the comedians are normally pretty good as well.
The 2 drink minimum is a great idea to keep the price of the ticket either free or very inexpensive night out. People complain about it but the comedians are always good and for $20 its a great night out.
Do you want free drinks but not wanna pay for them??? Well youve come to the right place. Order a bunch of drinks at a table, leave before the show is over and make the person at your table pay for them! Nobody ask questions when you leave, and when the other people at the table leave, they have to pay for the whole bill, no questions asked. Even if you slept through the whole show and didnt order any drinks!
This place just plain sucks!!! Theres a 2 drink minimum, which is ridiculous, as a soda is $3.00. Drinks and food are over priced and service was horrible. To add insult to injury, we all discovered that we had been over charged. When we asked he manager about it, he informed us it was a suggested gratuity... Suggested gratuity that I have no choice not to pay?? Sounds more like ripping off customers.....I will not return, and will make sure everyone knows they are a ripoff!!
Awesome place for a Friday or saturday hot date, funny comedians and great drinks!
My favorite place to see live comedy. Saw Jake Sharon here. He was fantastic! Jake is also good at karate. Youll get that if you see his show.
Theres never a bad comedian! They are all very professional and talented + Thursdays are free
The food was not good. It tasted like it was microwaved. The drinks are just okay. It was extremely and uncomfortably cold during the show. The comedians were very good though.
A group of us (6) attended the comedy show Aug 4, 2017. Thank God for the opening acts as the headliner (Dante) was beyond terrible. His entire show consisted of screaming/yelling/rambling. I think he said 3 funny things the entire time as we tried to figure out what he was on!!?? I am sure they have some good acts/comedians but whatever you do....dont pay to see this guy! Waste of time and money!
They have ALWAYS been funny. Ive been 6 times including 2 bday parties, one of which we were kicked out for being obnoxiously loud (we got off the party bus hammered, went back 40 mins later more hammered) but they were super nice about it and it was still an awesome time. Props you guys!
I think our experience is the perfect reminder to always check for reviews online before you buy tickets somewhere. The review from Michelle Jeffers is a very reasonable and adequate one of this comedy club. If we had we would have known about the 2 item minimum in the showroom and not bought our overpriced, water-down drinks from the bar. The waitstaff was very rude and aggressive while the manager decided in lieu of having a civil conversation with us, to intimidate by 52 wife about the situation. Overall, the entire night was not the Valentines Day treat we had hoped for and we will not be going back to this establishment. Sorry, up and coming comics, we will only frequent quality clubs like the Dallas Comedy House and the Addison Improv from here on.
This place made me feel like cattle in a herd. The seating was tight and cramped. The food was lackluster. The drinks are overpriced. I do not think I will go here again.
Saw Johnny Sanchez on Saturday. Awesome show! His 3 openers were hilarious!
Dont waste your time! I tried to attend a 10:30 show however I left in disgust after the man at the door assaulted me! Myself & a group of friends had a table reserved A member of our party was is the establishment & I poked my head in to ask if we all (our whole party) had to be present to be seated. As I did this the man at the front door rudely told me to go to the end of the line. I told him that was fine & tried to explain that I wasnt cutting line just asking a quick question. As I turned around to walk away and make my way back through the crowd of people at the door. The door man opened the other door and purposely slammed it into my back. I turned around & told him to watch out & he said move then I explained that I was trying to get back through the crowd at which time he shoved the door into me again pushing me into others that were crowded around. I left the establishment horrified after being treated this way. I complained the next day and have still gotten no response! I will never set foot in this establishment or spend a dollar of my money to support it! I have never been so disrespected in my life & I plan to share my experience with anyone who will listen. People need to stay away from this establishment so long as this behavior is allowed to take place there! Such a shame!
Havent performed here yet but i will.
