Was a pleasure to ride here. Came down with my mother in law for a pleasure show and went to ride later on in the year in a barrel race hosted by GTBRA. Grounds are immaculate and well-maintained. There is a stigma with our sport that Im sure people think of when they hear that a massive barrel race is being held at GIHP, but I hope we were good guests and that we can do many more events here in the future. Only negative thing I will say is that for an event where the winnings are strictly monetary, the tie-out fee is a little high, but I understand it is most likely an expensive facility to maintain. Would probably get more entries with a lesser tie-out fee.

At this horse park the Georgia Quarter Horse Association (GQHA) held the Stars & Stripes show June 28 - 30th and the Big A show July 2 -7th. The shows are AQHA, NSBA, and GQHA approved. Both shows are AQHA top 10 shows. All I can say is congratulations to the Georgia International Horse Park, the GQHA, the families, trainers, participants and their horses, as well as all the suppliers and vendors for making this event a success.Spirit, strength, fortitude, courage, endurance, a determination to succeed and a no surrender attitude; pick one or pick them all and it will surely describe what is necessary to see an event like this through from beginning to end.

I give reviews based on cleanliness, customer service, advertising, time spent waiting in a location, friendliness and it matters if your reading my review has or is helping you make your decision. So please click like, these are non paid reviews and your likes let me know I’ve helped someone and should I continue reviewing various locations. Please Click like Happy Birthday Month to me and Family! We decided one outing was going to be the Bill Pickett Rodeo! Actually my dear friend from Rochester advised this was number one on her list!Website stated rain or shine alrighty then!My son is here from Korea this is going to be nice. He’s a true cowboy! Hat, Boots, music and all. Since this is a large event we were all cowboys and cowgirls excited and dressed head to toe to match the event! Two SUV’s full of family members and when we arrived it began to rain heavily! But tickets were paid for boots, hats and the such, we are going in rain or shine!Parking was par father course! A long ways from the entrance. Check. Part of the way was concrete, part was sandy and gravel! Eeek I was not the only one who wore sandals no problem right dry your feet. Question why is it the way from the parking location to the arena was mixed with gravel and sand? Hmmm not a good idea.Check. Get to the ticket booth, several people inside No problem customer service was okay. As we waited for the autos to be parked we noticed groups of people who mind you know the system!!!They walk up and wait for the ticket booth to get busy and Security oh my words! Security she was literally behind the building on the phone texting or reading what ever she was doing her head stayed bowed down as I stood there counting ten, eleven, all the way to 30 people rushing passes the ticket booth and the Security! Now I thinking about all the money we paid for out tickets and these people are walking in in droves! Then I hear someone from the ticket booth shout we are Sold Out! The rest of our party arrives and we walk and we walk and we walk. Only to be told to go to the other side. So again we walk and walk more muddy and sandy puddles with people and children walking on the wrong side and others standing in the path pushing those who need to get by further out into those muddy sandy puddles. We are now asking where are the guides? Where are the police they should have to keep people and things in place? This place is great in size and we only see 1 police officer! People are wall to wall! One person in the group could not get her walker down the walk way! There were zero seats the spaces were one could have sat people were saying that’s me Friends seat that’s someone’s seat. No seat when we paid all that money for the group. Not one person could sit or stand to see the Rodeo!Food was so expensive but who wanted fight the crowds along with the muddy puddles. This was a awful event due to lack of security, police, ticket booth awareness and most of all Arena Planning. Should be better access to the arena without all the sandy, muddy places. People will always try to sneak in events so when you charge a entry fee ? Make certain your paying customers get what they paid for! Post police officers who will Not be on their phones who will do the job! Spend the funds needed to make walking and parking easier for your customers to come into your location. Food looked and smelled great! They needed a larger number of vendors to accommodate for the amount of people lines were too long and wait time for food was the same! All and all this was horrible because of the things listed above. With those things corrected this would be a nice place for an event.

I really liked how easy it was to find the right barn and parking for my horse. The signs were labeled nicely. What I didnt like was how bloody expensive everything was I mean were talking about 4 dollar waters and 5 dollar hot dogs. Crazy. Absolutely crazy. Not to mention we had no idea when we were up bc they couldnt get the time straight and the arena was so Dusty not hosed off once.

I own motorhome and didnt know there were full hook ups available for RV use. You can rent a spot for $25 per night, any night unless there is a scheduled event at the park and then its whatever is available. 50A, water and sewage and some spot dont have sewage however, you can still dump at a dump station. Camping is on gravel lots and its quiet. Not in walking distance to any stores or businesses.

I really enjoyed this place. I went to ride the 96 Olympic Mountain Bike Trails. I found them to be pretty challenging but after talking with some other bikers learned they have been changed from the Olympic course which was much more challenging. There are horse trails, hiking trails and a trail near a lake that I think visitors can paddle on. Also a golf course and a hotel but I can speak about those as I did not go to that part of the venue.

On Oct 27, 2018, the Georgia International Horse Park hosted the Atlanta Spartan Sprint Weekend. The course had many elevation changes and a stream that we had to wade through. This venue was tough and challenging, making me question why I like to do this for fun. But it was all worth it at the end and a step closer to completing my 2018 Trifecta.

I had an incredible experience here some years ago as I hiked to it from a bus stop for a Spartan Race. Camping outside the event on a hammock, I met cool locals who brought me coffee without even asking. Racing this event was so much fun and you really could not tell how diverse the terrain was from outside the event. Such a cool experience and Id do it again if Spartan Race ever returns to this location.
