Beautiful park. Great place to walk, take photos, take a picnic and take the kids to play. I hope the water area will be open next summer for the kids to play in. I used to hang out here by the water when I was a teenager. That was 40 years ago. Lots has changed at the park since then. Will go back to the park with my grandkids.

This is a lovely park but its not fully accessible yet. It has a very nice playground and some walking trails but the small beach has been closed due to COVID-19. In addition, one of the entrances is blocked due to construction of an event center. This park will be a really nice place to visit once the renovations are complete. Its best feature is the flowing water from a river that runs down and over some big natural rocks. It also has the remnants of an old mill and town on the property.

This is a beautiful park. When I was a kid it was closed to the public and had to be reserved for events to gain access. This is now open to the public and is free to visit (pay to swim during the summer)There is a very clean playground right next to a large covered pavilion complete with public bathrooms that are well maintained.Perfect location to take pictures with the family and in the summer there is a small beach to swim at. Professional photo shoots must be planed ahead time with the management staff. They are quite pickey as the park is now maintained by the county. The foundation for the old Mill is there as well as a path that leads under a man made waterfall as seen in the photos. You will get a bit wet.CAUTION!! Be careful when near the old Mill and near the water ways. There is not a proper fence to keep small children from falling into the flowing water. This area is far away from the playground but if you choose to explore the Mill keep an eye on your children as there is a drowning hazard. There are clearly posted signs in these areas. There is a paved walking trail here that is about 1.5 miles long.General parking area is quite small however, if you schedule an event here there is a large amount of parking in the back.I love to take my 4 year old daughter here to play. The park so far is generally not too crowded and I usually run it to more more than two other families at the playground at one time.Would rate 5 stars but I havent attended an event here yet, and they built a new building on the property that I have yet to visit.I also have not yet brought my family here to swim so I cannot comment on that experience.

Went today because the website and gates said open. However, we were chased down by a girl on a golf cart and told we werent supposed to be there. There were NO signs to say that we shouldnt. We were in a common area, not even on a trail or on the beach. There was a hand of people there, period. They should close off sections or just be closed altogether instead of tracking people down. Its an insult.

A lovely park with an excellent mile+ walking trail, a beautiful swimming area, a baseballs/sports field, numerous pavilions with grills for family get-togethers, and a great playground for ages 4 and up. There is also a beautiful river with waterfalls and some really cute and well-maintained old buildings to see. They are (currently in 2019) working to improve the park, and although I don’t personally approve of the pointlessly blinking and gaudy light-polluting sign they have placed out near 138, they’re doing a good job of it and the staff are very friendly.

A lovely old mill property located along Big Haynes Creek providing swimming and other recreational activities. However, the plethora of signage throughout the property detracts significantly from the pastoral beauty throughout. There is a swimming area requiring a fee but only allows three 2-hour sessions through the day, apparently because the mandatory lifeguard requires a 45-minute break frequently. So many areas are “off limits” as evidenced by the signage as to prevent even the Most casual walker from fully enjoying the park to the point where one can’t simply put ones toes in the meandering creek without fear of being ejected. Additionally, if you come with more than one friend, the staff may determine you are holding an organized event and take some action. I can only assume this is a monetary decision since taking pictures must be approved among other activity.Bottom line is this could be a lovely place, but government overreach May impede any fun you were hoping to have.

Beautiful park, perfect place to go swim and play in the sand with my grandchildren. So thankful there is finally something to do near home. However,my only complaint is there are 2-3 lifeguards on the beach at a time but, they continously all have to take breaks at the exact same time!!The breaks are 45 min.long each time, and everyone has to be out of the water. This is VERY aggravating, why in the world they cant switch out instead of shutting down everyones day continously.

You can swim in the area that they have roped off at the beach. There is a pavillon with several picnic tables under it and the are a few covered single picnic tables. There are a few waterfalls & Lots of shade. It used to be a iold mill & the stones still stand where the old mikl stood. The park is set up to resemble the old mill town.

Yall ready need to start taking card as soon as possible or at least update your website to say CASH ONLY. Your entrance sign is confusing on where to park (two roads on the left next to sign), parking is extremely limited so if you drive a truck, good luck getting in or out (the road is extremely narrow), you have to walk all the way down a large hill just to get to the general store to pay to swim. They also only take cash and cant break a 20$ bill forcing me to leave twice and come back after looping around the area 2 times just to get cash back from a gas station that only allows me to use their ATM and then break the bills into exactly 6$ just so I can come back to their limited parking and find out that there are no spots back. Once I finally got parked, I come back to swim and get told that there is a 45 minute no swimming break. I had to go through all of that, wasted 45 minutes of going back and forth to get cash and figure out that I cant swim once I get back. I understand that life guards needs breaks especially in this horrid heat but this is honestly ridiculous. This is a beautiful gem to be at and I love the atmosphere here but I had to go on a miniature wild goose chase just for 12$ exact because I live in Walton county. I shouldnt have to do this, especially when my knees already hurt... Sorry.Maybe try a card swiper on your phones?{Update} - Parking did slowly clear out and it was also labor day weekend (combined with reserved parking) so parking is understandably hard to find. They also opened up additional parking which helped. Still a bit narrow none the less but just a bit limited. The life guards are extremely friendly and reasonable on their rules. The beach is nice and warm while the sand itself is a bit grainy. It was also not too busy while the water was nice and cold for a hot, humid day. There is a nice pavalion to use with many fans and tables under it to cool you off while you relax. There is a 45 minute break every 2 hours which kind of sucks but is reasonable for safety and health of swimmers and life guards. Food and drinks are allowed on the beach (though Id watch out for glass and cans. They are sometimes left out). Dogs are also allowed from what I can tell. The bathrooms, wash station, and general store/main building are nice with vintage design, decorations, and decor. Makes it feel very comforting to be there. I know its a smaller, growing park but having a concessions stand or snack/drink set up in the general store would be a lovely idea. Same with maybe having a changing area for those who change at the park.TL:DR it was an amazing experience being here, just needs some adjustments made to the park itself along with its operations.

Apparently you cant take photos without paying 50.00 per hour to use the park according to the golf cart patrol. We were there about 30/45 minutes and was taking random posed photos ( Im not a professional ) and they stalked us the whole time. Then told me it was 50.00 an hours for photo shoots. The only sign that was posted said PROM pictures were 50.00 a session and prearutherzation was required. When I asked where it was posted about any photos she said our new website will be up September 1st and it will be on there. Well Im visiting from Alabama today not September 1st how was we to know. She said well Ive been lenient enough letting you take photos its time for yall to leave. WOW! Wont visit again and wont recommend it as a place to visit or of interest. CART patrol rude!

The beach area is closed because the kids are back in school. that is unfortunate not everyone is lifes have childern and for some it would be a good getaway while they are in school. Went for a relaxing moment and wanted to sit on the beach and read had no intentions on swimming and wasnt dressed for swimming. The signs are very contradictory. Once the very condescending staff member informed us that they were signs, that we had not noticed . 1 signs says swim at your own risk, another sign said no beach access if a lifeguard is not on duty and the other one says no swimming if no lifeguard is on duty.

First impressions were great. It’s a nice little area, but if your a rebellious person when it comes to lake water don’t go, it’s not like factory shoals. They wouldn’t allow anyone to walk on the beach across from the main area. Everyone was very nice and it’s a good relaxing place. It is $4 per adult and $2 per children and babies are free, however, this rule only applies to those who reside in Rockdale, if you do not then the price is higher, I witnessed many people leaving because of this. They seemed to have at least 3 life guards on duty that would rotate between the stand and being in the water. You do have to follow their Facebook page to make sure that there are no events if you plan on being there all day. Certain events they will close the area at certain times, full day, or half day. We weren’t allowed to bring coolers, food, or drinks to the beach area, by a lot of people didn’t listen to that rule. My over all experience was great, and it’s a wonderful area for small children to play.

Im sure that the park is nice but I was asked to leave shortly after arriving on 12.26.18! Santa brought me a new camera and I heard that there are some nice spots inside of the park to get pictures, specifically old buildings. When I arrived at the park and started walking a guy approached me, on a golf cart. He explained that I could not take pictures inside of the park unless I paid a $50 photography fee!!!Thats right, a county park (paid for by taxpayers) doesnt allow photography unless you complete an application (its on their website) and pay a fee!!!I explained that I am not a professional and was only taking personal photos and he told me that I must abide by the rules or leave the park!I see how this scam works; you demand a $50 fee and if I refuse (not illegal), you tell me to leave, if I refuse to leave (illegal) you call the Sheriffs Office and I am arrested for criminal trespass...wow! Silly games and greedy government entity!Absolutely ridiculous!!! This park was paid for with tax money...where does the $50 fee go? Who is profiting from this fee?I am not a professional photographer and I was alone so it was not a photo-shoot, it was simply a guy and his camera trying to enjoy a PUBLIC park...oh well, I will not return if this is how Rockdale County manages their parks!Photographers beware!

I love this park except for the fact that there is no way of knowing if there is a party renting it out unless you call first. I went today with 3 kids and there was a family reunion renting out the entire place. I was told to come back at 1:45 and then at 1:45 I was told to come back at 3:30. Then they would be open from 3:30 to 5:45 but open all day tomorrow (monday ; which they are normally closed on). The was no signage saying the park was closed. Nothing on the website, nothing on Facebook. They waited until we unloaded my pregnant self, 3 kids, a cooler, and our bags and walked all the way to the beach before telling us it was rented out. There has got to be better communication. Im pretty upset with the way things went down today and I saw at least 3 other families experiencing the same thing.

Nice family environment but inconvenient for those who have never been.1) the number listed to the beach goes to a person vm of the marketing manger. Therefore when we called to get information, to no avail.2) They don’t accept cards (but how would you know if there is no one to speak with at phone number listed).3) They sent us to gas station to use their ATM which was not in service.4) we drive back to 3 miles to another gas station only to drive back to find out the life guards go on break every 2 hours for 45 minsTherefore it was a complete waste of time. We will try to come back another time now that we know what to expect.

We will not even bother anymore. Especially after learning you have to pay 50$ to take pictures. Seriously? Are they trying to put the COST in Costley Mill? If you want a fun man made beach, go to hurricane shoals beach in Maysville. It has waterfalls and beautiful picturesque surroundings, a man made beach, and even a natural waterslide all FOR FREE, and if youre just trying to swim, try Lenora Park in Snellville, as they have slides, a lazy river, a pool, and toddler swimming area that was only 30$ for a family of 4 for non-gwinnett residents.
