This was a wonderful surprise. The trail maps and knowledgeable staff were so helpful in planning our experience. The Center has a beautiful view of the River from the raised, covered porch. This is the perfect spot for lunch.
It was the first time we visited this particular trail, lots of bikes on the trail as well as walkers. All were courteous and well mannered. Trails are pretty wide compared to other trails we hiked. We will visit often.
What a surprise when we parked the car. The setting is all around delightful. The stilted architecture is current and elegant, surrounded by vast green lawn that faces the Susquehanna River. It is also a perfect vantage point for viewing the Veterans Memorial Bridge. The center provides an excellent source of information for accesses to the river as well as bike trails in Lancaster County. It also offers facilities for events such as exhibitions and weddings. The parking lot, though a substantial size, could be overrun especially in the summer during popular boating and biking season. There is one boat launcher and 2 docked paddle boat access points, including one which is wheelchair accessible. And I should count also the one undocked access point right under the bridge. The center marks the southern end of the Northwest Lancaster County River Trail, currently my favorite trail. The one negative I should point out is that it can be confusing to get to the trailhead. There is an overflow parking area and restricted access road that can potentially mislead. The key is to go across the traffic light to where the murals are and head left until the Y intersection where youd have to cross twice in order to get to the trail. Aside from that, this place is perfectly situated and planned out.
Beautiful place to picnic! There are picnic tables and benches, by the water which is nice. There is a boat dock, which we did not use but it looked like there was plenty of space to load and unload, and the parking spaces were large enough for trailers and there was also ample parking and an overflow lot. I was told there is a museum that goes over the history but I did not attend yet, I will update when I go back! There are also trails I did not get to hike but it is a beautiful area and I will be returning for the trails as well. This review is not as thorough as I like but I wanted to share the info I knew because this is a beautiful place to visit.
Great spot to start a hike from Columbia to Marietta and beyond! Also just a nice spot to sit and watch the river
Beautiful & well-kept. Restrooms are always clean and cool. We appreciate all of you who make this place possible. Thank you!
Very pleasant and helpful staff. Great selection of information.
Beautiful new building with lots of helpful info on the trail and surrounding areas. Plus, bathrooms and veranda overlooking the river.
Need to take a break on your bicycle? The visitor center here IS the place.
It used to be nice now its dirty no one has been cleaning there! Its dirty and stinks has dead dragon flys every where and when u step on it it crunches eewww
Amazing space and a gateway to the river and NW Rivertrail!
Very well maintained, clean rest rooms, scenic bike trail.
Great trail to ride bikes or walk. Lots of stuff to see.
Very serene beautiful place I love riding the trails and I love the views absolutely 100% beautiful
What an unexpected jewel. Very nice and so lovely overlooking the river. Well kept secret that needs to be shared....
Absolutely stunning. Great view. Attended a party but will come back when nicer just to take pictures of the view.
This is a good place to park and use the trail north along the river. Nice parking area, easily accessible from route 30.
My husband and I were looking for the visitor center And found this. It is very open, has displays about the Susquehanna River information about the area, A very nice covered deck with few picnic tables and rocking chairs overlooking the Susquehanna River, lovely grounds, clean restroom, helpful information people.
Clean, well layed out nice boat ramps.
A beautiful area, great friendly and helpful people,no drama here!!
Had the deck rented out for a birthday party. Great spot for a party just need to make sure guests dont park in trailer parking. Also, expect people who think they dont need to follow the private event sign, youll need to tell them to leave the deck.
Beautiful park and information center. Learned the history of the ferries, bridges and some other historical facts. We spent our time taking pictures. There is a boat launch and canoe/kayak rental.
The view is lovely and theres plenty of seating!
Love the views of the river and bridge. The building has an outdoor covered deck with chairs and theres a little walking trail.
Simply beautiful
Awesome trails and scenery
Knowledgeable, friendly staff. Will definitively return.
Great view, and great accessibility to restrooms. Overall an awesome place to go for relaxation.
Great place to visit. Not only does it have a great view of the Susquehanna river but inside the crossing is a great informational place. Plenty of information of what to do nearby plus there is so much rich history usually on display. Outside is a wonderfully covered huge front porch overlooking the Susquehanna river.
Very nice and well kept!
Nice flat trail
Lots of space on the trails for bikes and a lot of nice scenery to pass by. Plenty of benches and rest areas. Easy enough for first time bikers and long enough for more advanced riders. Had a nice time during our visit!
The lady at the front desk was very helpful and gave a lot of great information on the Facility and the River trails. I definitely recommend checking this place out!
Great facility. Hope it can be maintained. A step in the right direction for the Columbia community and River towns. Can rent kayaks near there from a private vendor. Public boat ramp available.
This is an amazing place to think and explore.
Outstanding !! Hope and her staff are amazing!! My husband and I just got married here 2 weeks ago and it was absolutely perfect! We had small weather issues ( hall and down poor rain). All the staff helped save all of my decor and table clothes and even helped my bridesmaids set everything back up after the big storm! Needless to say the sun did come back and and it was all still outside and absolutely beautiful! The place was perfect we had a small buffet style wedding about 38 guest ! Thank you ladies again for all your help! Will refer all friends and family here for any event!
A beautiful spot on the Susquehanna River. The building is lovely, clean, inviting and open to anyone. Loved the art exhibit.
Stopped by to see the ice on the river. Weather was warm enough to get out, didnt go it the building.
This place was great. Very clean bathroom. Very clean inside and out. They take great care of the building. The deck overlooking the river provides fantastic views of the river.
We enjoyed our time together relaxing and talking so beautiful
Were having our wedding here, and they have been incredibly helpful.
Love the little museum inside and the views of the river and nice park
Great place to access the trail head. Plenty of parking, boat/kayak launch, kayak rentals and guided tours. Easy to find.
Only place you can get a full view of the bridge crossing the Susquehanna River. Cool bridge.
Nice bridge view and center with large covered picnic area. (Extra parking lots across the tracks for non-boaters). Drop a line in the river at the bridge, or roll a high-chair bike up the trail (paved). Hike up to Breezeyview Overlook (good view), if the trail is too flat for you. Rockys BBQ cant be beat afterward. Try the nearby Turkey Hill trail, too (gravel).
Love just sitting and watching the water
Awesome place to sit and relax... and such a perfect start and end to a great ride on an awesome trail!
Nice customers service
One of my favorite places to go for sunsets
Excellent place to bike, trails, walk, kids activities
The Visitor Center is a hidden gem along the rail trail, which snakes along the Susquehanna River. The Visitors Center is a beautiful setting anytime of day, we were there around sunset. Interesting historical facts, photos and information. Front desk person was knowledgeable and helpful. We are considering having a family event here, you can reserve the center for private events. Ample parking.
Beautiful, Shady, paved, Scenic Trail
Very nice building with info desk and a place to see the exhibition of the five bridges that have crossed the Susquehanna at this point over the last 150+ years. Rather interesting information. One could spend up to an hour here looking at this mini-museum but not much more. The river itself is fascinating to watch too and one shouldnt be in so much of a hurry that they miss this beautiful natural gift to our area.
Very nice my parents would be proud
One of the most nifty running trails I’ve run in PA.
Very beautiful place and the staff was super helpful and friendly.
Workers are well informed. Fantastic facilities and programs.
Great place to sit and watch the water. My favorite bridge. Its peaceful and good view.
Great place to access the river trail.
Beautiful building with public restrooms! Great view of the Susquehanna River.
Beautiful setting and facility with great views of Susquehanna and bike trailhead. Also boat launches!
Great space for a celebration, a rest, or a flush toilet
Visited on a tour of the Underground Railroad. Beautiful area, also a nice really along the river for hiking and biking, plan going back, to bike to Bainbridge this week.
Beautiful relaxing place
Very nice, very clean quiet place in evening to just sit and enjoy the view of the view.
We came here as out of state tourists and got slammed with a $25 fine for parking in the trailer parking lot when there was NO regular parking available. We were literally there for 10 minutes and I saw a cop walk up to our car from the other side of the park. When my husband went to investigate, they had just written the ticket. The cop said if we wanted to dispute it we needed to talk to the chief at the local police station. When my husband went in to talk to the chief he found out that he was conveniently out of town for the next week. We were told if we didnt pay the fine it would increase then there would be a warrant out for our arrest...for a $25 fine! This whole thing is a scheme to line the pockets of someone in this town. Also to the town- if you want people to enjoy your park, you need to add more regular parking. There were 5-6 other cars also parked in this area and I assume they were also ticketed...a few even had PA license plates. We even went on a weekday when it wasnt even very crowded. We actually came to the park to enjoy a nice stroll with our two daughters after visiting the Turkey Hill experience and would up giving the police station our last $25 in cash.
Great time painting pumpkins with my grandson :-)
Beautiful visitors centerIt has a small museum and maps of trails you can take. Very helpful personnel, too.
Very informative young lady that helped me out a bit. We’re getting to know the area! Thank you!
Beautiful facility and building! I love the view of the Susquehanna River, the history displays, outdoor porch, and all the good info. about the area!! The trail is wonderful and enjoy the food cart off Furnace Road.
Great place for local info and to start your biking or hiking trip. There is even a place to rent kayaks to go out on the river.
Beautiful trail along the Susquehanna. History surrounds you. Accessible.
Beautiful trail along the river, through woods and cornfields! Our favorite bicycle trail.
Nice place for a pit stop. Some historical information and clean restrooms. Good spot to take in river. Also plenty of parking.
Beautiful location beside the Susquehanna river.
Good location to get on the paved bike path.
Great facility with views of the bridge, boat ramps and access to the bike trail.
This is a great place for families to enjoy beautiful weather. With the boat ramp and walking/biking trails, there is something for everyone.
We had a great experience here. I took my kids on a bike ride and we stopped in here to check stuff out. There was a very informative and kind volunteer working there. It was a great pit stop on our ride. We started north on the trail and rode down to here for our turn around point.
Peaceful place nice walking trail
Great trail!
Keep up the good work!
Very nice place to relax, they have benches, artwork on the walls, a restroom, snacks for sale, a place out of the rain or sun. Plus lots of information on trails to hike and history of the area. Not the easiest place to find, but worth it if you can.
Enjoyable area, clean and friendly people, lovely view
Simple place with interesting info about the Susquehanna Rivers history. Nice benches outside. Stopped to use the restroom while biking, and ended up perusing their info displays.
Excellent venue for lunch meeting! Catered food from Rockys BBQ good too!
Loads of information about the area trails, and the trails on both sides of the Susquehanna river, the building is clean, and normally used as an information center, and rest stop, plenty of parking, and a wonderful view of the river and the bridge, there is also a boat launch ramp on site.
Great place for hikers and boaters
