We had our wedding here 10-15-20. David the owner is very passionate about what he does. You can tell its sort of new to him. Luckily our coordinators with Something Blue were able to manage everything. David was going to be hiring a venue manager which should help things. There is no formal contract. We toured the venue a year before we booked. In that time he increased the price but did honor the rate at which we booked at. He also allowed for our two dogs to stay on site for a fee. We got Davids preferred vendor info for the caterer and the rentals. (both actually turned out to be nightmares). When we arrived the day before the wedding to check in, David had already made several drastic changes to the inside of the house. The detached garage where my coordinators and vendors were supposed to be able to store their stuff, eat and work out of was now unusable. The upstairs bedrooms had also been redesigned (without warning) and the bedroom my maid of honor had to stay in was now hockey themed. the open living room in the attached suite was now walled off from the suite. The spare bedroom in the suite was now boxing themed. This left me scrambling to figure out the flow of things and where our guests were going to stay. I wish I had been notified. We also had numerous issues with the rental company and the order that they got was not the order we submitted and agreed on at the 2nd walkthrough (luckily my coordinators were able to sort it out). The day of there was a large black snake present at the gazebo. Luckily my scream scared him off. There were several large ant hills also at the ceremony site which needed removing and a few large spider webs. Also mosquitos (pests that for the price of the venue should be tended to) There were a few LARGE dead spiders in a couple of the bathrooms showers and spider webs in the ceilings (for the hefty cleaning fee this should have been checked before we arrived). David did deal with these issues quickly when approached. The night of the wedding the upstairs ac acted up and is was way too hot for my guests to stay up there. In the house rules you are also asked to strip the beds and place all linens in the kitchen (which we did but again with the hefty cleaning fee....) The venue really doesnt look like how it was when we got married anymore. There a multiple scenic areas for photos which our photographers with uptown selfies got many wonderful shots. David did accommodate a slightly later check out due to the ac malfunction and he did come over immediately to fix it. We paid to add the swan boat. My coordinators set up all table and chairs and décor. Our caterer with Corwins catering was able to bring his mobile kitchen and the site worked out perfectly for them. Davids responsiveness waivers. I could ask three questions in an email and get answers to only one. Again I dont think its intentional. It also not fully handicap accessible. One of our guests uses a motorized wheelchair and they had to bring the portable ramps to get in and out of the house. There is also a fee if you want to keep the lights/fountain on overnight and in the middle of my ceremony the neighbor decided to start blasting heavy metal music. (we were extremely respectable with the noise and our event ended basically at 9p). I wanted a private venue that our wedding party could stay at with us that my 2 elderly dogs could be at with our own private entrance and suite and this met our needs perfectly.

I toured this beautiful property and met the amazing owners! I could NOT stop telling everyone I know about how awesome this mansion is. It seriously has EVERYTHING you could dream of for a wedding or vacation home with a large group! It took my breath away every corner we turned. I highly recommend this mansion for any style wedding! The owners were so polite and so creative! I cant wait to see how far they go with their ideas and accommodations I have worked in a lot of wedding venues and toured a lot of wedding venues and never have I seen a place so awesome that not only has a bridal suite but a GROOM suite too! I promise you will have the time of your life staying here and celebrating with your closest friends and family!

We were planning to have our wedding here prior to COVID-19 unfolding. No formal contract was issued and Owner is not returning any of our payments, citing the contract, website, and that no other vendors or companies are issuing refunds during this time.A few weeks back soon after March 13th when the travel bans first came into effect, we reached out to David regarding the situation and the significant impacts to our guests, beyond our control. He told us he was fine still holding events despite the governmental and CDC recommendations and instead of following these, he was requiring his events to sign waivers. He told us that he would make those dates open on his website and if someone else booked the property for our dates, then we could have our full refund. We followed up the next week and he had not even opened the dates. After the stay at home orders were issued, I followed up but he did not return my initial communication.Throughout the process he would mention that his costs are a great deal compared to other venues--our strong recommendation is to fact check those statements. Most other venues amenities include much more than just permission to be on their property, i.e. chairs, tables, linens, dance floor, covered areas, etc., while his amenities have an extra cost to utilize and are only recreational. Make sure you look into how expensive renting a tent is as a back up plan should weather be an issue. Nothing is included with the significant venue fee besides a hefty deposit, which you will not get back should there ever be a crisis situation. Please get everything in writing. Also, the Owner asked if he could send me information on other wedding vendors, I accepted; however, he gave out my personal cell phone number without my permission. If we could pick less than 1 star we would. Please be wary and save yourself the extra stress. We feel that he operates unethically and that we were taken advantage of.UPDATE: Furthermore, our google review to try to save others the same heartache was removed. This is not right and another example of unethical business practice. To not allow prospects access to all reviews is dishonest and only emphasizes the need to warn others to stay away.
