After all these years loving in the Chicago suburbs, this is the first time visiting Ping Tom Memorial park. This is a beautiful park with a gorgeous view of the Chicago skyline. The park is well maintained and landscaped. Lots of constructions when we visited but the view of Chicago skyline didnt disappoint. Not very crowded but that could be just Covid-19 and later in the evening and it was certainly cold. The bride adds a very interesting for ground element to photographing Willis Tower and the rest of the Chicago sky scrapers. All in all worth a quick short day or evening trip to hang out and a must see Chicago landmark.
I had no idea this small treasure existed. Its right on the river, its quiet, out of the way, hidden. I came here for Poetic Platforms and had a ball. If your hosting an event like I went to or want a quiet little place to stroll or chill out this is the place. Also, there is a pagoda, columns, and tons of murals in the Chinese style(Its in Chinarown).
Almost always busy, but its very beautiful. The wonderful murals under the bridge and the great view make it nearly magical. Beware though, there are many photographers and people filming things there, so if youre looking to be incognito youre better off going someplace else.
This is one of those hidden gems in Chicagos Chinatown. I visited this area at night and enjoyed the spectacular view of the city skyline. It is an ideal place to bring your take-out food from one of the Chinese restaurants and have a picnic while enjoying the view. Or you can idly walk joh through the pathway. This place also offers a great backdrop for photoshoots.
A hidden gem in an urban environment. This park has lots of little spaces to explore. The surrounding community utilizes this park which is nice to see. There is an updated mural and the Chicago River is nearby. The train does course through this park which makes for an interesting collective of sights and sounds. The entire ensemble is somewhat unexpected but very thoughtfully done.
This park is underrated located right next to Chicago’s China Town it’s worth checking out during a day trip into the city it’s a nice place to eat a to go meal or just read a book.
Nice small park, great aesthetics and nice sounds of the boats in the water, the quacks of the ducks and the chirps of the birds... also a nice sound of cars passing by.. no actual horns but just them going by.I hear the kids playing and the adults just enjoying the sunlight.the only con is the train that passes by but overall. its pleasant
One of my most favorite parks in Chicago and often a rest stop on my bicycle rides throughout the city. Great playground for kids, secluded spots for meditation, water taxi landing, Divvy bike station and lots of space to sit down and enjoy the traffic on the Chicago River. The only drawback that I have experienced is the ground level railroad track that can shut down access for a significant period of time.
Great park, mostly quiet. Good spot to take some photos of the river and downtown cityscape.
Its a awesome park. Its clean colorful and full of life. I love to go into chinatown. I never seen so many ducks. They were big and not shy to come up to you and let them pet or feed them. Its also very quiet and not real busy. A great place to have a picnic.
Ive been coming here since I was a kid - at least fifty years now. Its still wonderful. In fact, it might be better than its every been. One of my favorite things to do in Chicago - one of my favorite things to do in ANY city. Just a world class conservatory.Go. Look at my photos and realize that they dont convey even a fraction of the awesome beauty here, they dont convey the wonderful fragrances or the warm humid calm. Go - youll not regret it.
A true hidden gem in Chicago. The views of the skyline from the south is enough said, however theres so much more. Riverwalk, nice pathway, quiet park, stunning mural, option to kayak too! Great place for a relaxing afternoon.
Its a very nice area that you can enjoy with your family during summer. Special when its evening you can appreciate an excellent view of the city the lights of the buildings are so beautiful.
Its a quiet and relaxing place but city noises (traffic, train whistles, boats racing) are not far away. Its a beautiful and very urban park. You can get some food from Chinatown and eat it by the river front.
This charming park is Rich in both History and design. It’s cozily nestled between the river and the renowned China Town Area of Chicago! It’s accessible by water Taxi which is a great experience in itself. The plants, trees, sculptures, and flowers inside of this park, reflect the rich Heritage that is potent in this part of town. In the summer you will find festivals and performances complete with spectacles that could only be delivered by this community! Enjoy!
Ping Tom is a very beautiful park. Plenty of places to sit along the Chicago River. Eat lunch, fish or a calming stroll all things to do at this beautiful Park. There used to be water taxi pickup as well as kayak rentals along the river. Due to covid those activities have been halted. Still a beautiful part nonetheless
Incredible park south of the city with gorgeous views. Great place to eat Chinatown takeout!
Nice urban park on the near south side of Chicago. Great views of downtown and the old railroad Bridge. Some quiet places to just sit and watch the water or nature.
A little smaller than Id like but beautiful park right on the river minutes away from Chinatown. Also has a river taxi location
Very Historic Park.i hope NO ONE DARES DISRESPECT THIS MONUMENT.....
Really cool park. Fun place for a picnic or to bring kids.
A nice place to have a picnic. Chinese restaurants are nearby. Only downside is the noise of trains passing by.
Nice park hidden inside Chinatown. Right along the river so you can take the water taxi. Theyve added a bathroom and kayak rental too! There is a divvy bike station at the entrance. But be careful of the train as you need to cross train track to enter the park. On the east side of the park there is a softball field and Louie Fieldhouse which houses the swimming pool.
Beautiful walk by the river. Very peaceful and lovely scenery with all the flowers.
A peaceful experience that brings back life to you and brings you in a state of mind that can only be achieved by relaxing and enjoy the small stuff that lie within the park, aside from the children playing or the boats passing by due to the river or the occasional train, aside from all that the park is peaceful and brings out the natural part of the place, it is also great for catching some natural pictures but mainly add a urban background to most photos. Definitely the epitome of a stroll in the park.
I like being by water and the Chicago South Branch River has alot. Theres a Canoe/Kayak Pier there I dont think they rent there, youll have to go to River Walk ( Down Town ). Park is Quite quiet ( had to do that ! ) lolol Some times theres Dragon Boat Races.
Love the train that passes next to the park.
Beautiful, relaxing park. Wonderful murals and street musicians. Wish the garbage was better collected, but we are in the middle of a pandemic after all!
A peaceful and thought invoking place. Loved it, I dont do 5s, thats reserved for heaven.
While this park is clean and picturesque, it lists a boat/canoe launch that is inoperable and sunken. They either need to fix it or update the website. Also, there is very limited parking and the boat launch is some ways into the park, having to trek quite a way with your equipment
This is my favorite park in the city. It’s really clean and there’s bathrooms available in the REI boathouse. Neat walking trail and the park is located next to some really awesome bridges. You can catch the water taxi here too! A must visit!
Gorgeous unique views of the city. Such a beautiful place of combined industrialism and nature.
We had a good time there. I love going there because you have a great view of the skyline. I like taking pictures with family with the skyline. Also they have some art.
Peaceful serene walking park by the river, weather permitting, mostly well maintained, ... :)
Excellent place for recreational activity and taking photos of Chicagos beautiful skyline.
Beautiful tranquil park with a beautiful landscape!
Lovely park just a hop away from China town. Great little area to relax, picnic, kayak, and watch river boats pass.Visitors, PLEASE pick up your garbage!!!!This park would be gorgeous if folks would simply throw trash into provided cans, and not the grass!!!
Such a beautiful and peaceful park with a stunning view. I love it
Beautiful and relaxing park! Big enough for a nice walk after enjoying the restaurant in Chinatown!
Probably the best smallish park in Chicago. Wish the people who visit it took better care of it. The trash bear the entrance can be a bummer sometimes.
I like the grassed area that one could picnic or walk through with the picturesque riverside & water traffic to appreciate. Theres a shelter if you need protection from the rain but no seating under the shelter. I like that this founding Chinese man is remembered in the form of a parkThis is also where you can catch the yellow water taxi to downtown Chicago for $6 one way or $10 for day. This 35min trip takes in the various skyscrapers along the way as it goes to town, calling in at Union Station and one other place for passengers.
Lovely park. Maybe COVID has impacted the park because they do not have staff cleaning at all. The park was overflown with garbage but putting that aside this park has a view and great spots for a picnic.
Nice little park to ride bikes, scooters, skate and/or bring your kids for the child playground. Next to the river so very scenic. Just a bit tucked away by the apartment/condo complexes, monitored by bike cops so pretty safe too.
Very nice place for walking or picnic.
Drove in from Arlington Heights to this park in Chinatown for the first time. It’s a beautiful park with of course a Chinese theme for it’s architecture. We came here for the Dragon Boat Festival. What’s beautiful about this park is that it serves as a needed urban oasis in this part of Chicago. It’s situated along the Chicago River which made the Dragon Boat race possible and it was exciting to watch mind you. This part of Chicago is one of the older neighborhoods in it’s history. What I love is you can still view the old buildings along the river, bridges and lifts that reminds you of Chicago’s industry nearly a century ago still preserved as if you’re in 1928 as opposed to 2018. Another cool thing is one can grab a water taxi from the park to different stops in downtown, Michigan Ave included and back again if you like. A definite must do if you visit this wonderful urban oasis. For parking, you can use parking apps like SpotHero or one can park at the main Chinatown parking lot on Cermak and Wentworth and simply walk to the park. If you go that route, I recommend dining there and getting your ticket validated so you’re not paying so much. Besides if you’re in Chinatown, might as well dine there as well. So many choices!
A lovely and beautiful park, even though it is not huge. It was closed to the railroad so that sometimes it was overly noisy. Otherwise, this park is a fantastic place for hanging out, relaxing, and just forgetting everything. Also, there was a playground for the kid and a small Chinese architecture temple alike by the river. Visitors should carefully watch the foot as there were animal feces all around the park somewhere.
A quiet oasis along the river with plenty of space to sprawl out for an afternoon picnic and a nap.
A place to relax and enjoy nature! Also for great photos!
VISIT THIS PARK! A fantastic use of “spare” land to make a great public park. There’s the lovely pagoda, a jungle gym for the kids, landscaped grounds, and benches where you can sit and watch the goings-on along the river. Chinatown and Chicago could use more parks like this one.
First date here, very cute! Nice park, sat by the water :>
A beautiful location and perfect weather.
One of my favorite Chicago Park District parks. It feels like an oasis along the river.
Ping Tom China Town no this ga toy more Vietnamese and Thai oriented by Argyle! Banh mi
What a great location for multiple activities through the Chicago Park District! This location has a gym, a pool, exercise room and various classes. In addition, a beautiful garden outside and a view of the city!
Its beautiful, besides the old abandoned building that was set up right on front of the water, and how creepy the water had sure bubbles coming from down below.
Good views! Calm place to take a walk or eat some rolled ice cream!!
Amazing park, with great views and landmarks.
I love this place. Its quiet for the most part and a great place for a snooze after a feed in Chinatown. There is (or at least was) a ferry that took you up to the loop. Things get a little exciting sometimes when the railway bridge is raised. I mostly came by bicycle. Water fountains.
Great park to hang out and perhaps even bring a date. Being in China Town its a must see park. With a great skyline view you cant wrong here. Go to China Town and buy yourself a smoothie from joy yee noodle and then come for a walk. Best time to come is around sunset for its really shows the beauty of this place.
Unique park with great river and downtown views
Nice place to sit along the river and take professional photos. Also of course so cool to catch the water taxi from too. You are seriously a lucky person to get parking nearby though.
Great Park on the river! Plenty of open space and shade. Pre-COVID kayak rentals and water taxi.
9/13/2020 The boat launch wasnt set up. That was a little annoying but we still found a good spot to drop in. It isnt a long walk from where you unload your boat at the entrance of the park.
Great place to see Chicago skyline with some Chinese vibe!
Such a scenic view, especially at night
I love this park. I have spent hours out here just relaxing the day away. The river is nice and its too far away from the mall so i always pick up something to eat on my way in and have a nice little picnic here. Always worth the trip down here, theres a play ground and kayaking and the parks just gotten bigger and bigger.
Very peaceful park overlooking the river nice place to take a short walk or just sit and take in the atmosphere.
Had a great experience at the memorial park
One of the most underrated parks in the city- Ping Tom is located in China town. Accessible by red line or water taxi, it’s about 2 miles from the loop. Grab some Chinese take out and enjoy the skyline view.
Easy access to Water Taxi if you want to go down town.
This park is great, you can sit by the river and have a picnic.
I love this little hidden park. Theres water, lots of space and its nice and quiet.
This place is a gem. Ive drove past it for years and never knew this park was back in the cut.
Beautiful place to take photographs and just walk around. Very peaceful as well.
Beautiful park with an awesome view of the south loop. Right next to china town too so you can grab some bomb food right down the street. Easy access from the highway as well. And theres parking right down the street under the L.
Beautiful park by chicago river on the south side china town.good for walking. The building structures are cool. The tree stars are for stacks of trash piled up. Also it was the july 4th weekend. Other than that it was nice.
I came to the Park for an REI river adventure. The park was adequate, but nothing special. The availability of river access and REI watercraft make for a fine bonus to the park.
I went for a shoot at this place! Amazing skyline views. And yes its a silent place to spend some time away from the city.
Beautiful quiet great views. Good picnic date spot.
Such a beautiful place
Pretty! Nice park to walk around, sit, and hang out.
Pleasant except for train noises. On the water. Good picnic spot.
Must visit location if your in Chinatown. Its so peaceful and quiet and the scenery is lovely.
An awesome park right near downtown and on the river. Its a pretty quiet park with a lot of space to walk and just take in the views. The views are better than I expected and its great to be on the river right near some good food in Chinatown. If youve never visited I highly recommend it.
The park is so relaxing and has lots of places to sit and watch the river.
The absolute best place to get photos done
Absolutely destination location if you are visiting Chicago! Take the Water Taxi from downtown and youll enjoy the experience.
Great park. Impressive design. And you can get there by ferry!
Children’s park. great variety of views. close to good eats. short easy hikes. kayaking. water taxi. close to cta transportation. great landscaping. it’s pretty close to being a perfect park. just sayin.
Beautifull park, not well maintenance, full trash can not a good sight.
Neat place great views of sky line it was a very clear day just a quick walk from China Town It is right on the river lots of trains and boats also the REI boat house is there I will return when weather warms saw some meganzers diving for fish!!
I loved it and its so beautiful
Great place to relax.
This is one of Chinatowns hidden gems. It is a beautiful park where you can see the city by the riverbanks. There is a nice playground for children and also traditional Chinese arches. There is a small path further up from the main entrance but this is definitely worth seeing if you are in the neighborhood. Hopefully I can catch some fish there next time!
Love this park. Been coming here since I was 10 years old
So much fun and very good price
Very nice place
Recently expanded and great area for a picnic.
Such a nice park! Nice walking paths and right next to the river. Also a play set for kids. Only one entrance though.
Very nice well kept park. Awesome place for a picnic.
