The Millennium Concept experience is a great introduction to many things in Chicago. I have previously seen The Lyric Operas snippets of upcoming shows and tonight watched the Broadway upcoming season. The chairs are comfortable, sound carries well and the big screen is easily seen. We did find that the overhang isnt enough to prevent being rained on, but overall a great venue with extraordinary FREE events
This outdoor theater has it all. State of the Art acoustics, ample seating (both seats and lawn), a large stage with a huge video screen, stereo equipment and video staffed experienced associates. Convenient location. Restrooms adjacent to the stage. Handicapped accessible. Most concerts are free and well attended. There is a wide variety of entertainment.Impressive framed stage of huge steel rolled curved ribbons. They reflect soft, colored lighting against the daylight into evening, dramatically against a beautiful Chicago skyline. The night we attended, during the Chicago Jazz Festival, featured Chicagos own mix by musician Ramsey Lewis. World renowned, this was sadly his last home concert before retiring. At 86, his performance was very well received by grateful Chicago fans. It was a special night.
As a frequent visitor to Chicago, and the downtown area in particular I am drawn to this pavilion by its uniquely stunning design. The architecture is very eye-catching and during the warmer months its a great place to catch a group of performers rehearsing for a performance free of charge. Its also centrally located in Millennium park giving one easy access to other installations just a stones throw away.
Seems like they could use a bit more creativity in naming a place like this.Otherwise we were greatly pleased with our experience during a weekday afternoon for the free summer concerts. There were a few food and drink vendors open and I would imagine there are more during the weekend. Overall, a well maintained and chill place to hang out and listen to some tunes at.
A beautiful public pavilion in the heart of Millennium Park. During the summer, there are frequently free concerts, movie screenings, and other community events. It’s a great place to spend a summer evening. You can bring a picnic and sit on the grass behind the fixed seating area. Definitely a great place for folks of all ages to enjoy.
Beautiful time in the city. We walked around the Bean, and so much was going on. A live band under the shadow of the Bean, a concert in the Pavilion and street vendors everywhere. Stopped at the Starbucks on Michigan ave... and perfect weather on top of it. Chicago is so gorgeous at night and the reflection of the city in the sculptures were just breathtaking.
Many free concerts. GREAT sound system. Then they have this huge 4 panel Led screen. Lawn and pavilion seating. Tuesdays in the summer is movie night which I highly recommend. Bring a sandwich and something to drink. It has become very popular the last few years and gets packed.
We had a wonderful night bringing a picnic to a Chopin concert in August. Even though my children were unruly the sound from the stage was really good so I could hear the music. Was crowded but we arrived early to lay down a rug. I would have preferred to sit near the back had I realised as families tend to congregate there so the kids can play.
Great city green space and entertainment venue, with unique acoustics. Home of the famous Chicago Blues Festival, among others.
Absolutely stunning venue! I was lucky to be in the right place at the right time to catch a fabulous concert!
Great public pavillion in the millennium park with many free concerts and events across the seasons. Truly family oriented summer program between June til early September covering from classic concert, movie, chorus, etc...
Amazing venue for summer concerts. I liked people made piknicks here during the concert :)
This place is sweet they have all sorts of free concerts here. If you’re lucky they’ll have someone you actually know. They had YO Yo ma play the other day can you believe that’s actually his name?!?
So many great free events here! We love to go to the classical concerts (grant park music festival). The sound system means anywhere on the grass you can hear the concert perfectly. Really nice music quality during the concerts. The space has easily accessible restrooms and the grant park parking garage is right there.
The best place in Chicago. I am listening great music thete, watching movies, meeting with friends, seating and reading. never boring! never dissapointed! and 99% with free entry!
Very interesting architecturally designed try to make a visit while the orchestra are practicing and youll enjoy a free show.
This amphitheater was pretty cool. I was here on a random weekday and I like how its just in the park. During the day I visited there was open rehearsal for the orchestra, which you could sit down and watch or stroll through the park listening to the music. The theater was well kept and they do have restrooms here.
Not been for a concert/performance but a beautiful piece of architecture!
Open mic night would rock! The stadium and atmosphere is super cool and the jazz festival being free was cool. I want a free event im interested in. I dont like jazz music. Open mic night would have been awesome!
Wow, what a unique performance venue. This out door venue will leave you breathless with its amazing views of the city. Worth it to see in the day and again at night for a completely different feel.
Great place to hear quality music. Definitely visiting again.
Open air concert hall with a modern architecture used for concert and movies in the park.Great place to have a picknick with friends on the lawn while listening to classical music or a band.
So many reasons to love it here, including the city views surrounding the pavilion and the great variety of free activities. If youre in Chicago in the summer you MUST stop by for a free movie in the park. What a cool experience! Love that there are regular seats and a large grassy area to lay down a blanket and chill for a movie or concert.
Really cool spot off of the park to listen to live music and get out of the hustle and bustle of Michigan Avenue. We were surprised by the free concert the other day and it was fantastic. Clean restrooms, shady seats, and FREE concerts.
Absolutely amazing site, I was there in August during the Chicago Jazz Festival and the site in the night is great, lot of people, food and great music with perfect acoustic. And during the day its a great place to see, with architecture similar as Guggenheim museum in Bilbao.
Jay Pritzker Pavilion is one of the most popular places in Chicago. It is located into the Millennium Park on the south side of Randolph Street, in The Loop area.It is a place for free cultural performances, like Film Events (in summer) and all type of Music Festivals (Gospel, Jazz, Blues, Mariachi and World Music, Philharmonic).
Gorgeous pavillion. Seeing a concert here is a Chicago vacation must do. Definitely look up the performance schedule online. Most of the performances here are free, too. Definitely a must-see.
Great venue in Millennium Park .. Terrific sound system. Concert was free courtesy summer music program sooner by CTA
Attended Gospelfest. Beautiful night, beautiful venue. Disappointed in sound quality for the last group way too loud and therefore distorted. Overall still great!
Love Frank Ghery’s beautiful and functional architecture, which lends fantastic clarity to the music played on stage at the pavilion in Millennium Park.We only spent lunchtime here listening to rehearsal of the symphony playing the same evening, but it was delightful. Kudos the the performers!TIP—> if it is a sunny day, it feels much toastier here than in the rest of the open air spaces in Chicago. Perhaps the metal of the sculptural top reflects the sun rays right to the guests? At any rate, there is not a lot of shade mid-day, so bring a hat, sunglasses, parasol, or other shade implements.TIDBIT—> Pritzker family owns Hyatt Hotels.
Very beautiful pavilion, but all of it was closed off to protect the grass. Never they less, I️ enjoyed the scenery and atmosphere it brought. I️ will definitely love to come in the summer, or during an event to enjoy the full effect of this area
Great venue! I love all the free summer activities/concerts Chicago offers us! #summertimeCHI
Best place for open air concerts in the seating area or in the lawn area with a blanket or chairs! With the back drop of the Chicago skyline and the beautiful lakefront just steps away, what more can you want?
Bery nice place to visit in Chicago. I went to a concert. It was amazing.
This place is awesome. You can base whether or not you decide to visit this place on my opinion
This is fantastic place for concerts.Situeted in beautiful Milleniim parkSound is overperfect no matter if you sittig on the grass or on seat.
During each summer every Saturday there is FREE Summer workouts in Millennium park from 7am till 11am. From 7am till 7:45am there is Pilates, from 8am till 8:45am there is Yoga, from 9am till 9:45am there is Power Training, and from 10am till 10:45am there is Zumba class. There is simply nothing better than exercising for free during the summer in Milenium park downtown Chicago. Absolutely LOVE IT!!!
Cool place I found while wandering back to my hotel. There was a free orchestra concert going on so I stopped and enjoyed a bit. The yard was packed with people enjoying dinners and wine and cheese and all sorts of activities. Very nice venue.
Beautiful place that fits into its surroundings.
Love the free entertainment... One of the best places to visit in Chicago... No other place like it. Best place to go in summer. Always full of free entertainment for the whole family.. Must visit if ever in Chicago..
In this time of summer season, Jay Pritzker Pavilion has alot of events, most of them are free, they have shows, movies, concerts !! Feel free to google more information about the events, very clean space, very big, YES IT HAS RESTROOMS.. :)
Great place. My son and I had great time with his lady Kaveen. The Jazz concert was wonderful.
Got a love this place...chicago blues fest
Beautiful architectural building. Hosts amazing live performances including the Chicago jazz festival. Acoustics are very good for an outdoor stage. The backdrop of skyscrapers provides for a unique experience. Also, drinks and food are available for purchase.
Beautiful night great acoustics great music. Love free music in Chicago
I look forward to Bluesfest every year and it never disappoints
From summer concerts and movies this a great event space where you can sit and relax while taking in the city views.
Went to a free concert and was very pleased. Beautiful park with an amazing fountain. Concert venue was great, sound quality was very pleasing.
Went to the Fourth Annual Mariachi Festival and it was amazing!!!! Was lucky enough to sit just a few rows from the front of the stage. The pavilion is beautiful and the acoustics are there. Can’t wait to go back next year.
A lot of these excellent industrial monuments capture the attention in ways you just have to experience to believe
I was there tonight for Summer movies in the park. Great place for concerts and festivals. Chicago really is a beautiful city.
This park is so beautiful that I visit it every time I go to visit my aunt.
This building is so eye-catching, because of its size, design, gorgeous curves, and fascinating metal skin. Its quite uplifting just to see it, being able to catch a concert there would be totally amazing - we didnt, sadly... But our hotel was nearby, and we did get to walk past almost every day we were in Chicago. If youre visiting and not staying downtown, do make sure to check this one out! If you can get performance tickets there, jump on them!
Amazing free events and you can bring in your own food and drink
This is a beautiful space, especially when the weather is pleasant. On concert nights, it can get especially crowded (31,000 or more this evening for Yo-Yo Ma), but its delightful. Id strongly suggest taking an open heart and know that everyone else is here for the same reason. You are welcome to bring an extensive picnic, though there are a number of great food and drink stands. Overall, it is usually a wonderful family evening.
Beautiful place to visit loved the music
Some great views while seeing a summer movie on their big screen
This was a beautiful evening of seeing Robert Plant & the SSS. He still has a beautiful voice. Concert was great. We shared a bottle of wine in the shade before the show. Venue was super nice/clean. We had great seats, right in front of the sound board. The only bad thing was - SUPER hot that day. They did have cooling stations and EMTs standing by.
The Sons of Kemet, live at the Pritzger Pavilion - oh the glory, a Joyful Noise!
Jay Pritzker Pavilion is located in the north end of Millennium Park. The massive structure is impossible to miss with its impressive architectural features. They have several performances here including the Jazz Fest and a classical music series. The sound is state of the art too. Youll notice a lattice system over the top of the pavilion with speakers. Those speakers are strategically placed to mimic the acoustics of an indoor concert hall. So really you get the best of both worlds...state of the art acoustics in a beautiful outdoor environment! I would also recommend coming at sundown for a picnic in the grass. For more information about the pavilion and other Chicago attractions, feel free to check out VibesLocal.com. Maybe youll something new about the city!
An absolutely amazing experience! Beautiful! I cant wait to visit again!
A MUST for anyone looking to get a taste of what Chicago has to offer. From the beautiful architecture that catches the eye, to the wonderful acoustics in the wide open air. During the summer, it is a haven for concerts, festivals, shows, and more. Customers can buy tickets to be in the first gew rows, then its basically first-come-first-serve. Apart from the seats, listeners can have a seat in the large open grass area just beyond the furthest seats. Accompanied with speakers (and wifi), it makes sure everyone can experience the magic of the Pavilion.
Great music, free seats, expansive lawn for picnics, gorgeous setting, nothing better!
Gorgeous venue for a concert. Free concerts are regularly held here in summer and the families gather right in the heart of the city to enjoy.
Scenic outdoor music venue with stadium seating or lawn space. Easily reached by public transportation. Many free concerts in summer. Adjacent to other Millenium Park attractions and Michigan Avenue.
One of the many reasons to love this city!
Incredible amphitheater and great place for a picnic. Super clean too.
Always enjoyable, great sound, fantastic ambiance. The night I attended was absolutely enjoyable with artists giving their best for the audience in a tribute to Donny Hathaway. The lead act, Soulful Quartet, was likewise fun. Please, more shows like this!!
Even if you are not here for an outdoor concert on a lovely summer evening this is still a nice place to come and hang out and bring the kids, with plenty of nice green grass to cool you down even on the hottest summer day
I love the uses of this park. Love free things like exercise. Clean, great for families and picnics. Bathroom facilities are decent. Convenient parking garage nearby.
People doing yoga and Zumba. That was fun
Unbelievable, I really really want to attend opera in here
Wonderful concert venue for Grant Park Symphony
Great outdoor music hall. Keep off the grass. Very green.
Well it is spectacular the first time you see it, but I wouldnt make a special trip just to see it again. Fortunately it is not alone. There are a whole cluster of such at the park so it is worth enjoying if your hotel is nearby. Also there are free concerts of quality, but I am just reviewing the edifice.
My first visit was one of true amusement! I was able to sit and listen as an orchestra practiced for an upcoming performance.
The best sound you can get in an outdoor setting. Plus now they have a fantastic screen for projecting video so you can see the stage from anywhere. THE place to be in the summer. I love this place. Along with music, they also show movies. All kinds of music too. Im also glad they moved bluesfest and jazz fest here.
Fantastic outdoor venue to listen to music. The Grant Park Orchestra was wonderful today. Highly recommend.
This beautiful, architecturally significant pavilion has a large auditorium-like seating area and a well-manicured lawn to sit on if youd like to recline or maybe have a picnic! The sound system is amazing. There really isnt a bad seat in the house....you can hear the wonderful entertainment no matter where you choose to sit. We are very lucky in Chicago to have this world-class venue, and its free to visit! Just plan extra time to get through security and check the website first if you plan to bring alcohol - some shows dont allow it.
Being a designer, I admire the architecture and design. Its huge and a good structure. Stroll around the pavilion wouldnt hurt if you are at millennium park.
What a great auditorium and free summer concerts to boot. We saw Jupiter and Okwess last night. A real treat, great music and we didnt have to sit on the grass. There was food and drinks available. Bathrooms could do with a good hose down.
Saw a show here, such a beautiful pavilion. The location itself feels like a piece of art.
All the Gardens and the Acoustics!!!!With the SKYLINE BEHIND YOU!!!IVE NEVER PAID 2 SEEE A CONCERT HERE!!! THERE IS ANOTHER VENUE DIRECTLY UNDER IT!!!... U CAN ACCESS IT FROM LOWER COLUMBUS!!!! MOSTLY CLASSICAL MUSIC!!! WE GOT FREE PASSSES FROM THE LIBRARY 2 SEE. CLASSICAL MUSIC THERE!!! NO PICTURES NOW .... :(
One of the few places you can bring in your own food and alcohol and enjoy a free show!
Great pavilion for concerts and outdoor activities!!
Great location to take in a show. Great view of the stage from most seats, convenient drink stands and restrooms, and helpful staff for locating seating
Notable building by great architect, Frank Gehry. Really enjoyed seeing that.
Beautiful architecture! You get the prettiest views at night
Awesome free orchestra this weekend.
A great venue for the Chicago Blues Festival! My husband and I visit almost every year!
Family always has a great time!
This place is a very relaxing place. You probably have one of the best views in the city. Its a great place to take your mind off of things!
What I love about this pavilion is that u just go there and there is something. I happen to land on a night where musicians were rehearsing
This is an absolutely stunning venue! Lots of open seating, easily accessible, and just steps away from The Bean. The city hosts lots of amazing FREE events here including the annual Chicago Jazz festival.
This a stunning venue to watch any show. Chicago hosts the most free cultural events in just about the world and the Jay Pritzker Pavilion is home to many of them. Even as a Chicago native everytime I come I have a beautiful time.
